I think Solas should be a koi, because they always seem so thoughtful and contemplative. (There is a lovely picture of one here, which I'm not going to hotlink because it belongs to someone and is for sale.)
As for Varric, it's not strictly a fish, but I think he should be one of these adorable little guys:

I think it's something from the TV show Buffy , like a casual remark "Oh it's the apocalypse again" "Must be tuesday"
Then it got used by some characters in DA because David gaider is a fan of Buffy?

I love getting smoked salmon then frying in and drowning it in soy sauce and stuffing it into rice balls the best way to eat salmon ever
I should be used to them now though my grandmother throws jokes like that around left and right but I'm sure the BSN will help to properly educate me on this type of humor especially in the romance threads
Doesn't... Tilapia make you sick, though? I mean, I wouldn't know- I only know by way of second hand information that if you eat quite a bit of it, it causes stomach upsets...

I'm in a landlocked area and a small town so any kind of fresh fish (from a store) is out of the question

The fishing is not that good anymore we've got a lot of those Japanese carp hanging around in our river so we mostly get them and you can't really eat them and our lake as far as I know only has bluegill I love fish I just like the expensive stuff I can never have hmm must be why I pegged Iron Bull for a lobster then I'm projecting >>

I just made myself hungry with that and I'm all out of sushi rice too 
So is mine my grandmother is very touchy even when I tell her to stop she doesn't, she's a lewd, touchy, crazy lady but she's family. Easy to get back at her though since she hates having her face touched so I just start poking her cheeks and she stops for an hour at least

I'd recommend something light like rice and sauce depending on the fish/follower you are devouring oh and a glass of fine wine to sip on of course.
I love whoever brought up the Fishquisition, we needed some light heartedness here badly.
I'm also in a landlocked area but we have plenty of lakes but I wouldn't trust the fish that come out of them, plenty of good sea food restaurants nearby that claim their stuff is fresh.
