Mae identifies as a woman.  If Varric is heterosexual, he is no less heterosexual if attracted to Mae.

Anyway, part of the reason why I'm a little iffy with Varric as a love interest is that I think it makes more sense if he's written as straight and if there's that in mind, it doesn't neatly fit into the whole 2/4/2 thing. Nonetheless, if he's written as bisexual, I'd be surprised.

I can't remember, but I took it as two dudes having a go at each other like how some guys joke around. I know some guys who do that for shits and giggles and they're pretty comfortable in their heterosexuality.

While I do think he is straight, really those "points" should be taken carefully. Some posters used much of the same points to argue about Anders as well. Yes, I know that it worked for Cass, but we still shouldn't look for patterns where there is likely none.

I don't think a closeness with a cousin-in-law is a sign of being bisexual at all, even if she's transwoman or not. And that's still pretty much like his sister. Ew.

That's an unsettling train of thought, to be honest. Odd place for you to jump to for a reasoning for any potential bisexuality from Varric. You might need to do some soul-searching here.

I just couldn't think of a scenario where Varric took an interest in another male character closest would be transexual I think maybe my message got mixed up in that comment so I apologize if I offended.

Also found out Mae identifies as a woman so I guess that's back to square one... Still think Varric is straight though. Vivi will be bi as my vote

There's one point where he told my male SnarkHawke that he was "too high maintenence" for him.  But it was likely just joking around, as it was while commenting on Hawke's relationship with Merrill.

I'm just hoping for bisexual Vivienne with Human and Kossith/Qunari preferences; bisexual Varric with Elf and Dwarf preference.

I can see her digging on Kossith/Qunari politically as power and intimidation. :3
But I can still see her with a surface dwarf if s/he is successful enough so I could see her also going Human or Dwarf for preferences.
Thus I'd want Solas to swing both ways still for Kossith/Qunari and Elves.

I'm seriously hoping for one of those! >.<
But if they end up saying it's Blackwall then I'm happy for the Blackwall fans

 

My suspicion is that if Vivienne is one of the two remaining LIs, she will be bi, but gated for human and dwarf only.  As they are the most "socially acceptable" races.  Elves are too "low-class" and qunari are "heathen savages"

I think just because he acts like a bro doesn't mean he can't bi bisexual. Actually, there was no real difference in the conversations with mHawke and fHawke. He's always been sassy and hilarious and sarcastic, no matter which gender you played. I just think it's a prejudice to assume people who are like a bro can't be into men as well.

So, thinking about the LI tropes and all that, and how lesbian always get at least a rogue LI, and straight women always get at least a warrior LI and (I'm betting on it) straight guys always get at least a mague LI, and more specifically, thinking about how much I'm not into warriors for LI, at least a priori, I've realized I tend to find mages very appealing (I don't know why, the fantasy? the mistery? the power?), even if it might only be in theory, because in practice I usually pick Fenris over Anders (though could Kaidan count as mage?  ). and how in theory too I'm not very into elfs, but then in practice, I always pick the elf (I don't know why either, and I can't even come up with an hypothetical reason for it   ) Unsurprisingly, my favourites for LI in DAI are Dorian and Solas.

 

So I'm curious, do you happen to have any patterns when it comes to LIs? I mean not only about the silly thing with races and classes, but any other thing.

No matter. I'm really curious who the last two are and how **** will seriously go down once they're revealed. "Think of the mayhem! Mayhem!" October never seemed so far away until now and I'm just itching to see something for the character creation thingy.

I know, I know, what I said was jumping to conclusions too fast. But if Varric does play out to be bisexual, it'll be interesting to see how the writers work that into the story.
