We on Russian Bioware Community Forum use this... thing, to show all companions, advisors and their LI-not LI status
I know it's just a coincidence that so far all LIs have created "L", eh, structure? whatever
But even so, I think it would be hilarious if the next two LIs were Vivienne and Solas
Cuz, funny coincidence is funny
Spoiler
Damn, Cassandra is sexy ![]()

I feel kind of odd. The person I'm gravitating toward is Josephine, despite not being attracted to her and finding her face more interesting than beautiful.

I must admit, as an 18-Year Old, I would find it very uncomfortable to have my Character romance someone who is twice as old as I am. I would rather leave the LI's Ages undefined by the official Canon - that makes Things easier to relate to.
I think that works for some characters, like Sera or Dorian, since we don't know much about their backgrounds yet. But once we get to know characters, it's hard not to get a ballpark estimate of their ages. Cassandra, Cullen, and Varric are all characters who we know about and have history with, so we pretty much can piece it together.
The same might happen with the new characters. If the mention that something happened "ten years ago", then suddenly we can narrow their age range.
A character like Fenris is easier to keep ambiguous, especially since he's an amnesiac.

Josephine doesn't do much for me because I don't know much about her. Cullen has dibs on my saarabas so Varric can continue to ask what is it with him and mages, Iron Bull because he's qunari, and an interesting one at that. Cassandra, maybe at a later date because she's a major player in the world, and that's just what I have set out of the confirmed. Josephine doesn't seem to have many ties to familiar characters or factions that I'm aware of. I'm going to do it sooner or later, I just don't know when yet.

You are very right - but, I don't know, it's a psychological Thing. As long as I don't have Confirmation, I can still headcanon something. I'll simply use the LI's of my Playtroughs as Examples, as well as my Player Characters.
In DA:O I was easily able to create a somewhat young looking Dwarf (he was actually really cuddly, which I say as a straight male), so I placed him around the 20 Year Mark in my Head. He romanced Leliana, who had a rather lively History, but could still be placed in the "comfortable" Zone of the younger Half of her Twenties - especially given the old Engines Lack of Options to define aged Faces between "perfect Skin" and "geriatric".
My female Elf also looked very young and romanced Alistair who acted more like a Teenager than an adult. And also easily looked that Way. In Fact, my younger Brother looks older than he does in DA:O in my Opinion.
Cullen fell also in that Vein of "acting more like an upset Teenager", so I placed him at "definitely under 20 Years old".
In DA2 we had the Passing of Time, but that was very easily ignorable, since nothing of the Characters really changed. My Hawkes (one Female, one Male) looked generically 20ish trough the whole Ordeal, while both Fenris and Merrill looked decidedly younger - might be a Side Effect of the Elf Redesign in DA2, which I liked.
Now, in DA:I we have Cassandra, who we I can decidedly NOT Place in the "comfortable" Age Zone anymore, being at least something around her Mid-Thirties, possibly much older. That actually is a Reason that makes her completely and utterly unappealing to me. Now I hope the Companions and LIs with less Information and not so "old looking Faces" (talking about Blackwall and iron Bull there) will not have a confirmed Age, simply since I think the Companions - except Cole, who's Look I also like, despite him being child-minded - will be in the same Age Range if they get confirmed Ages. Which will certainly put me off.
Side Note: There is an Exception and that's Varric. He's apparently listed as "that awesome" in my Head, that his probably rather old Age doesn't play a Role.

Oh, my, gawd. I am so frustrated. I keep wanting to become a part of the conversation in this thread, but everytime I look away, 10 more pages are added to it. And when I finally manage to get through the first five, 20 more are added to THAT. I cannot keep up.
A lot of what you missed was fish.

I get the feeling that Cassandra being older is why she is so interesting to many people and I'm personally happy that for once, the straight male player character isn't stuck with a woman that look and act like a "teenager" (or young adult).

Be warned, I did not want to rant and stuff. Just explain myself and the Train of Thoughts I have about "revealing specific Ages". After all, some People may like older LIs and some People may like younger Ones. I am one of the latter.

Why would you prefer a younger LI? What about a woman possibly in her 30s or so is that unappealing to you?

Because I am 18 Years old and thus quite young myself. At the Moment I find Women around my Age to be more appealing - I could talk long about detailed Prefereances, but that would be unnecessary and displaced I think. It's really about "looking and acting like being around 20".

For me, ages and how old the characters appear to be vs. how old they are is something I run into IRL.
I've been consistently pegged as around half my age ever since hitting my 30s, and before then it was at least 5 years younger than I actually am, so I kind of gravitate toward characters like Merrill who are probably older than they look. But then I'm short and my style of dress is I guess more "teenager" than "adult"? Heck if I know what it is, other than genetics.
At least I've hit the age where it's more of a blessing now than a curse. ![]()
But getting more on topic, I'd agree that Josephine and Sera look the youngest to me, whereas the others are more... weathered, which gives them an older, rugged look to some extent. Cassandra doesn't look all that old to me, though? I'd peg her at mid-30s at most... which isn't old to me, darn it. *waves my cane around* ![]()

Usually, yes. But I feel that it's less true in this franchise.

It's the eyes. So green and marbled. It contrast with her dark skin. She's beautiful.

I'm more of someone who's attracted to personalities over age/gender/appearances.
Me too. Why does their ages matter so much? They didn't seem that important to people in origins?

I don't even get what "looking and acting like being around 20" means. Do all people act the same at 20?
You can't even imagine your older self to prefer women around the same hypothetical age?

Yea, you're right. It's mostly something I noticed in Kotor, Jade Empire, TOR and Mass Effect.
We don't know the age of any of the LI.
People in here have made some pretty good calculations or predictions.

I think Alistair is the only one in DA where we actually know his birth date. It's not something Bioware feels the need to spell out.
I guess the LIs will tend to be older in this game because the PC is likely to be older. Particularly compared to the Warden
