There are mods in which you can have a romantic relationship with Alistair as a male Warden or with Morrigan as a female one. The person, who made the mod, made it in one day. The same was possible in Mass Effect 1. Ashley and Kaiden were both available for same sex romance with the help of mods. Also done in one day.

 

Allan Schumacher said, as far as I know, that it would take 2 months for one member of the cinematic team to make all romanceable NPCs available for each race and each gender. If that is incorrect and it could also be done in one or two days, I don't see a reason why it shouldn't be done.

 

He was specifically talking about romance scenes where the characters may be touching each other or just close and it was only about DAI. A hug between a human and a human is gonna look slightly different if it's a human and an elf but imagine an elf and a Qunari or a dwarf and a Qunari. The scenes would have to be remade for different race combos, possibly even for genders depending on what is actually happening in the scene. 

 

I think that was the work that he estimated would take two months (or something).

Might it not be easier to skip the sex scenes altogether, allude to them in party banter, and have them in situations where height may not matter quite so much?  Like seated, sitting on a hillside. or adapting certain scenes to multiple purposes?

Um idk if he was talking specifically about sex scenes as much as any kinda close interactions are gonna be different and they have so many more non romantic interaction problems like that to solve that I think it would just take two much time to do.

I believe that was the specific example discussed previously, although it does occur to me that just having different inquisitors talking to different companions is going to be MONSTROUSLY difficult to program.

I got ninjamanced once because I hardened her. I specifically avoided the flirty options and NEVER complimented her hair (the usual way to activate a f/f romance with her) but I helped her with Marj and next thing I know Zevran is asking me to break things off with her because he didn't want her feelings getting hurt. I was all... whut??

I would normally chalk stuff like that up to bugs but it seems to be in everyone's game but mine apparently  . Even when I hardened her I've never gotten ninjaed unless it was by Alistair, hmm well maybe she'll try to ninja me on my PC version haven't gotten that far yet though.

You've said that if they can't implement a romance as bisexual and for all races, it should be cut. I asked what DA:O romance you'd have cut. Now you claim that nothing should be cut and the developer saying there are resource restrictions are wrong.

This is the real problem: Fans will claim they understand that there's limited time and budget, but ultimately believe that the developers not giving them everything they want is just the devs being lazy.

So he does and he goes into allot more detail about it, I didn't know that.  I was referring to his original comment on the subject which may have been on the previous romance thread, I don't quite remember. Anyway yeah, I seem to have remembered the point he made more or less correctly.

The modder also probably didn't have to pay anyone.  How many people, counting voice actors who are going to be repeating the same line over and over again with changed pronouns, does it take to properly write, program, and animate a romance?

 

I believe that was what they said the issue was some pages ago.  They'd rather donate their manpower and budget to what they considered the most interesting stories rather than try to please everyone and only get halfway. 

 

Makes me wonder what they found so interesting about what they DID use!

I'm not all that excited about being too limited on what's interesting for me. The players bring as much to this as the storytelling quality. You could tell the greatest story ever, but players make it personal or not.

 

From an objective viewpoint, Liara might've been the best told romance of ME, but I could care less about her.

I had the same issue with Zevran as well.  We only had a one night "achievement" fling...at least that's what I was led to believe.  But for Zevran, I was the love of his life all of a sudden.

Yeah, IIRC when she talks about how pretty your hair is, responding positively or complimenting her is giving her the green light to rev up the engines and climb your loading ramp. So to speak. Like Zevran's "We'll bang okay?" only with more hair braiding.

Wait really? I thought that in order to start a romance with her you had to ask if 'fruit' was forbidden at least that's the only way I could get a romance with her when I tried. I'm starting to think my copy is bugged.

That's what I always read. The gate convo was about the hair. Maybe it is different if you actively persue her before then? Like Zev will offer sex even if you don't flirt if he likes you enough and if you wait long enough Alistair will ask YOU for sex.

 

You can activate the romances before then with enough flirting but those aforementioned gate convos are the NPCs trying to seal the deal if you haven't already.
