Cannot unsee her neck.
I was so busy focusing on Hawkes blandness that I didn't even notice until now

I wish we had been privy to more of Isabela's sordid past during the game...then we'd have had a lot more players who would've gladly handed that monster over to the Arishok.
Nope. I wouldn't have handed anyone over to the Arishok. Giving one of your own people to the enemy who just slaughtered them is just... strange, imo. I'm not going to try to defend her actions or anything but there are several characters in the DA universe who could be considered a monster moreso than her.
I am ecstatic that our romance options are not all sexual blank slates. Straight, gay and bisexual companions are back in Dragon Age. Amazing!
What has Isabela done exactly?

There's been some pain and disappointment, but many of the regular posters feel the exact same way. Including me.
Thanks for such a positive post! This place can get a little rough sometimes. With the stress of the last LIs hanging above our heads, there's been a lot of heated debates about who and why should be the last ones.
I wish you could have been here last night. Allan joined us as we took over the thread with fish puns for about 3 hours last night. It was a tension breaker that was badly needed. ![]()

Isabela once trafficked elf slaves. When she was about to get caught, to save herself from the gallows she disposed of the evidence of her crimes by tossing her "cargo" overboard, leaving them to drown.

soooo the opposite of what she told Hawke? :L
You'll always have Da2.

it's a different story. She also did what she told Hawke (I guess that precisely because she felt guilty?)

Not anymore. My one chance at being represented was removed when all 4 options were confirmed as just bisexual remember?

The freeing the slave incident came after the dumping slaves incident.

Yes, and she freed them because she felt guilty about the other time, did'nt she? That's how I remember it
Isabela and Sten are the most difficult for me to sympathize with as far as companions that did bad things. I got to know Isabela before I knew what she did and it colors my view a little more positively. It is really horrific, though. I realize it varies who people think are "the worse". A lot of people hate Anders and Cole, but I can sympathize with what they did.

Ah.
I'm all for people who change for the better and 'grow up' from experience, no matter the age. If you condemn people who have done wrong n their past, you'll find there won't be many people left afterwards. Isabela had a rough and traumatic childhood. This isn't an excuse for her past, but it helps put things into perspective. Her only way to freedom for her back then was a life of crime. If you get to know her character, you know she has many regrets.

I'm sorry to hear that. :c Truly. *hug*
There's a large difference in done wrong and murdered scores of innocent people (that you would've sold into slavery otherwise) for profit however so...yeah. That's a YMMV situation.
As it is I just don't recruit her and we both go on happily. Everyone wins.

Would it be difficult for you to ignor what DG said? I feel terribly lucky that when I'm playing I'm very capable of ignoring almost anything I want, especially if something said outside the game... I mean , I know it's true but it doesn't affect me. The only thing I care for it's what I see in the game and how I interpret it.

What are you? (realize that sounds weird, but you know what I mean)

If I think about it, it's almost kind of scaring how little I care abou how evil the companions are. I have no trouble accepting any of them, though I might not like them, but that's usually more about personality traits, like being funny, and kind with the PC or other companions, and things like that. And the thing is one could even say about me that I'm too judgmental in real life (though I think I'm making progress
) Maybe it's because none of those things are shown on screen?
Most of our companions are murderers *shrugs* But indeed, everyone has a different perspective on it, I agree.
Doh, Tango stopped being a freebie ;-;

I actually don't mind unapologetic evil companions (provided they're not stupid evil). I do love a vast majority of the SWTOR Sith companions and a lot of them have very questionable morality. Really it's stupid evil portrayed as EDGY!!! COOOL!!! that hits all my "seriously?" buttons. Even on screen.
What I'm more likely to dislike are evil brutes. (Skadge, Xalek. If I could airlock those two I'd do it without a second thought. DS Jaesa fits into that as well). And companions that do questionable crap but then whine at the PC for doing the same cause suddenly "Murder's wrong!" when they're cackling about it in conversation five minutes before that.
oh so murder's only wrong when it's against people that remind you of you? GTFO.

Not slavers however and most of them kill people who have it coming. But yeah YMMV.

Yes, it would. I mean, I can mostly ignore things but there's always a tingling of the memory there, especially when like this case it is a WoG.

I don't really know. I've used the term "sexually ambiguous".
