I was thinking last night about what's been brought up on this thread and others before, specifically which companions/NPCs we wish we could have romanced. Personally, for Origins I'd have loved a (non-physical, obviously) romance with Shale if she was up for it, and also Sten. For Awakening, I'd have liked Velanna, Sigrun, and Nathaniel, and may have at least tried Anders. For DA2, I admit I wouldn't have minded trying Varric since he's a good friend to Hawke and I value that.

DAI romances are not totally planned. I have a female qunari ready in my head for IB, but the Elf female and dwarf female are waiting for the reveal of the last two LI, since one was imaginated for Solas and the other for Varric. at least one of these two (if not, sadly, both) is going to romance Cullen (not very happy about it. I'm not very interested in him) or Blackwall. (not very interested in him either)

I don't really know yet who I'll romance in DAI for sure, but of the announced LI's I'm definitely planning on: #RideTheBull, Sera, Josephine, and it's likely I'll be interested enough in Dorian to try an m!Inquisitor at least once. My Inquisitors will probably be a mix of elves (I'm predictable ) and Qunari, with at least one try at dwarf and human.

I'm not sure yet what I'm going to do in DAI, still hoping for Solas for my first playthrough... If he's not, I really don't know what I'm going to do, probably Sera, because what is sure it's that I'm going to be a female mage (in the case she was race-gated I have no trouble picking the race needed). Then I might try a male PC for Dorian. Afterwards, I'll just do the rest of the romances available to women, no particular order, because not particularly interested in any of them so far. If the first male playthrough works for me, I might give it another try to see Cassandra's romance

 

edit: obviously, I'm assuming that DAI will live up to my expectations and that I'm going to make a lot of playthroughs

I'm going to play as an human mage. Not sure who he is going to romance. Likely Josephine, since Sera is not an option and I doubt I will get along with Cassandra to being with. I also will play as an female Qunari warrior that obviously, will romance the Bull. Not sure if my third one will be an elf or an dwarf.

Gosh. I've been happy with the LI's I've gotten in the Dragon Age games. Velanna would've been nice. Nathaniel could have been a really cool if you were a Cousland. All of my unrequited love comes from Mass Effect, actually.  Wrex in Mass Effect, Mordin in ME2, and Joker throughout all three games.

Semi-confirmed rumor: Maria is one of the two last LIs for Inquisition.

All of my unrequited love comes from Mass Effect, actually.  Wrex in Mass Effect, Mordin in ME2, and Joker throughout all three games.

Ha, agreed! (I dunno if you've ever played Mass Effect, but Wrex is giant lizard alien man. Physical appearance means so little to me.  ) I mean, Shale could, eventually, make for an interesting LI story. In fact, I would love to have Shale as a future follower/companion in another Dragon Age game, and, there, I'd be over the moon if she were an LI. (Her character is really interesting, and I love her story. And it's obviously not done yet. SHALE FOR NEXT DA!) That said, in DAO, I'd be uncomfortable if, immediately after she regains true control of herself, she can jump into a relationship. But, one day? Yes, please.

It seems it's not. We're back to the approval system. Your choices may affect your relationship with your companions, so I guess that applies to your LI too and maybe even to your romantic dialogue? But I think rivalmance DA2 style it's off the table

My lists would be too long, and likely dull to scroll through.  Suffice it to say I have played every Origin, romanced every DAO LI several times over, and romanced Sebastian, Fenris, and Anders with a variety of Hawkes and rivalmance/friendmance combinations.  

 

My canon DAO: 

 

Lady City Elf Rogue (named Aeoli), romanced Alistair (and broke up at endgame), did the Ultimate Sacrifice.  Imported into DA2.

 

My canon DA2:

 

Dude Hawke Mage (named Eosin), friendmanced Anders, sided with the Mages, ran off together at endgame. 

 

With DAI, I am interested and loving just about everyone, so I'm sure I'll have a ridiculous amount of playthroughs again.
