Lol my post last night was just to note how DA:I will be the first Bioware game were we will have 3 options for a lesbian romance IF Vivienne is a LI lol but I don't mind starting a canon topic lol
My Canon
Origins- Female Human Warrior- Romanced Leliana (Hardened)
II- Female Mage Hawke- Romanced Isabela (Frienship path)
Inquisition- Female Human- Romanced Sera
I still don't know what class I'll be in Inquisition, I'll also romance Josephine and hopefully Vivienne is other play throughs, I also want to romance Sera as a female qunari.

I never found Aveline ugly, just incredibly incompetent & corrupt.
You forgot nosy and judgmental.

I never found Aveline ugly, just incredibly incompetent & corrupt.
Never corrupt. But sometimes so unfriendly and harsh that I considered her spiteful. The scene of giving her the shield sticks in my mind -- I really did not like her then.
However, I have to admit that I absolutely loved the banter between her and Aveline. Some of those innuendos were golden. Best in the direct challenge of The Long Road. "You like splitting hair but wish somebody would split yours." -- "We both place others above ourselves. I just happen to do it clothed."
Not to forget in act III: "Did he arl your eamon?"
Something I found noteworthy is that Isabella, at the point where she has lost all self-respect at the beginning of act III, speaks actually quite highly of Aveline. Much more than I would.
Other than that, I loved most of the banter between Merril/Isabella/Varric, in any combination.

I get the incompetent part how some people could see it that way but how is she corrupt?

Oh, no, she's very corrupt. Some of the things Hawke can do are absolutely criminal, and Aveline will not only let Hawke get away with it but actively assist in it.
Regardless of any rivalry points that may accumulate, the fact that she aids Hawke in various criminal activities is a mark of corruption.

I dunno. Characters usually go along with most questionable stuff the PC is doing (very few exceptions, like abusing the ashes of Andraste). I mean, you can use blood magic all you like, and nobody will give a damn.
Oh, and Merril is just great for using powerful blood magic to slaughter her own clan. So I don't read too much into that.

Then I guess the last part is more POV rather than actually being all around corrupt.
I myself suck at mercilessly going around and lopping peoples heads off.
The judgement in Avelines eyes when you do... (*shivers*)

She really is corrupt, is the same person who does nothing after hearing about 1 of her guards raping an elf but then attempts to punish the victims brothers when they get tired of being ignored & take things into their own hands

I dunno, I wouldn't put it as corrupt, but more as a flawed system.

This.
Especially while knowing if a templar was doing something similar to Bethany she would be first in line to help Hawke gut him.

I don't think Isabela was ever actually cruel to Aveline. Isabela teased Aveline yeah but Aveline always gave as good as she got. Anders on the other hand made some vile remarks to Aveline, there really needed to be an option to punch Anders for some of his comments towards Aveline and Merrill.

I've said it before; besides Hawke, Varric and Isabela are the glue that held that group together.
Same, Varric always found a way to diffuse the tension especially during battles ("how many did you get Hawke?"), had Hawke's back ( showed concern about Hawke's LI), and was a cool cat.
I found Isabella to be a trouble maker, had I finished DA2 on a second playthrough I would likely had gone along with her quite dodgy wit.

She's even more of a hypocrite. In Magistrate's Orders, she's a fan of executing Kelder on the spot, not arresting him, because of what he allegedly did to Lia and the other elven girls. Which is exactly what the elves she wants to punish were accused of doing - vigilante justice against a human criminal who will escape punishment because of the corruption in Kirkwall.

Also hides a blood mage & an abomination, seems that she was perfectly happy with Hawke/companions breaking the law even if she personally witnessed it

Stopping us isn't in most character's job descriptions.
Aveline's job is literally to stop Hawke from doing a good portion of the stuff Hawke can do.

I don't really hold that against her character. Hawke can watch Anders lose control of Vengeance and kill an innocent young girl in front of their eyes, and instead of killing him there and then or calling the templars the strongest way they can react is telling him to go away.
It's just yet another bout of character stupidity brought about by Anders survival and freedom being vital to the climax.

Why are we talking about Aveline, a non-romancable character in DA2, in a DAI romance thread?

As I played DiploHawke, I think I may have missed out on her corruption. Or not cared. Hawke having the guard captain in her pocket seemed to be something the world acknowledges in its passive-aggressive way.

Off topic yes. But off topic =! bashing.
ANYWAY
On to Inquisition. I do wonder how we can get away with being a complete douchecanoe and which LIs react badly to it. Cassandra's pretty much a given...
