A lot of people are saying that they make female characters and then assign them as love interests, but isn't the fact that female characters tend to overwhelmingly be pretty humans a bigger issue than the romance system, to begin with?  

 

I agree, I'm a little shocked I didnt notice before. As the bioware rep wrote, they probably do design the characters then decide who the romance options are... but when just about all the important female characters they write are human anyways its not like theres room for diversity.

Maybe you'll get lucky and Vivienne won't be an LI.

They have no emotion or passion anymore. They can't even feign emotions or passions. If all of the feelings are one sided then that's not a relationship.

You can go on a date without it being a relationship.

And I'm of the opinion you can have a relationship where one person doesn't love the other, or nether of them are in love.

Relationships where people aren't in love are called friendships. Friendships that involve sex or some physical intimacy but no romantic feelings can happen too, but I seriously doubt a tranquil would be capable of sex. they definitely would have no desire for it. So again, I don't see how a romantic relationship could work with a tranquil.

sadly she is likely the only option (unless they dont add another straight LI for males at all)

 

although I actaully do like Vivs description so far, I'm more sad about josephine, non companion LIs... I dunno I just dont think id get the same attachment with an NPC that isnt tagging along with me all game, I found the non companion Romances in ME3 to be on the weak side for that reason.

 

Viv seems fabulous! But a female dwarf would have been great (Sigrun ftw) and they could have done soooo much with a Quinari

It's nice that my limited selection is balanced by an ability to actually like women.

And I'm sure that applies in real life between real people who have a real spectrum of emotions and feelings, but tranquil people do not.

sigrun was easily the best part of that game... the only other reason to play it was to go back to a time when I didnt want to decapitate Anders

If we could get any LI like Sigrun I could die a happy woman. She was easily my favorite thing about DAA and so far my favorite character of the series. I love her to pieces and still squeel out her name excitedly every time I go to recruit her. While I would love for her to be an LI I know thats impossible so I'll settle for a dwarf (or any race really but I REALLY prefer it be a dwarf) LI like her. She was a character who hit all the right notes for me and will be one of those characters I still love years later

I'm not saying it's impossible, but I have a difficult time imagining a reason why a tranquil would want to be in a romantic relationship that doesn't come across as exploitative.

I honestly can't think of anything worse in the realm of a relationship than having someone you loved and knew deeply turned into an unfeeling husk, I think death would be kinder. But hey maybe that's just me.

But I must admit I liked quite a lot all the DAA companions, beside Justice and Oghren. not because I didn't like Oghren, but he lost all his character. he...regressed in a bad way in DAA. I was as much deluded by his character as much as I was happy to see him at the start of the expansion.

 

i would sell a piece of soul for a romance with Nathaniel. I squeaked like a demented fangirl in DA2 when he appear.

I agree about Oghren.  Why bother to bring him back if you can't develop him as a character.  There should have been some option to help him stop drinking quite so much, and be a more well rounded character.  Instead almost every moment we get with him is him so drunk he nearly passes out, or flirting with someone who would rather kill him then sleep with him. Wasted potential!
