Never had any interest in Sigrun as a romance personally or dwarves in general really.
Personally I lived a dream romance in DA2 with Isabela, so hope for those that crave it a dwarven LI finally get to realise theirs.

Even if its not a dwarf I would love an LI whose personality was like Sigrun's. She was so fun and adorkable and enthusiastic. I want an LI like that so badly
I find it refreshing at least to read a straight guy complaining about female LIs being too conventional, instead of complaining about them not being conventional enough, I have to say
Read that Bioware?
We want our dwarven LIs!
I suspect that many of the people requesting a female non-human LI would riot if they got a giant female qunari who looked like Iron Bull. But I am cynical.

I should be so lucky!
But then, if she was interested in women, I could only imagine the cruel nickname she would get from the fandom.

Yeah, it's her personality that won me over. Same with Varric. The dwarf part was just an interesting add-on.
It would be nice to go for something that isn't a human or elf for once. Variety is the spice of life.
Gah, her choice of gifts too! Right up there with Sten. Super cute!
Isn't it implied in DA2 that the tranquil are not able to consent? The girl mage that Ser Alrik is after says something like, "Please don't make me tranquil, I'll do anything!" and he says, "That's right, once you're tranquil, you'll do anything I ask." It's basically a mage lobotomy.
Then there's the former lovers in the Gallows. He says, "Don't you know me?" and she replies, "You are apprentice Jaken. We were once in an illicit relationship." He says, "But I love you!" and she answers, "I am Ser Alrik's now. He is the only one who can command me."
People are hypocritical.
I have so much sympathy. I am still trying to figure out how to do a Cassandra romance. I pondered making a character who was a trans woman but decided any romance at that point would be duplicitous.
I feel really gutted for you and a bit for me. I'm a gay man so will only romance men as a male character but when I play a female character, I romance women, My sis is also gay and so are most of my friends so those are the relationships I can relate to as I see them every day. Cassandra not being available to women just seems wrong to me. I wanted her to be the Gina Gershon to my Jennifer Tilly. Everything I know about the way she carries herself just screams "likes the ladies" to me.It feels like a wasted opportunity, In fact, if there's a well done mod that makes a Cass/F!Inquisitor possible, I'll totally use it. The trouble is with voiced protagonists and more complex cinematics, it's getting tougher to mess around with stuff like that without making it immersion breaking.
To anyone that says having set sexualities is a good thing, I agree. Mods are for fun though and have no effect on anyone's game unless they choose to install them.
I don't think the Tranquil are very consistently handled.
Though my broad impression would be that they're more easily coerced because they lack strong drives and convictions, but that they don't lack free will.

I was disappointed by Cassandra being straight too, but I wouldn't call it wrong. Appearances can be deceiving.
On another note, I love you for referencing Bound. That movie was awesome!

I imagine the tranquil just thought the threat of not complying to Alrik was too high. We saw in Origins that they retain a sense of self preservation.

I guess "wrong" was a bit far but her being straight doesn't gel with my (admittedly limited) knowledge of who Cass is. I guess it's personal. As for Bound, I would go bi for Corky (not that she'd be interested). I f***ing love her.

That's the thing with sexual preferences: it's not connected to your personality. It's just something that's there, like your hair color. (unless you play with dyes, but you know what I mean.) If I said her being a brunette doesn't gel with what I know of her, it would sound silly, right?
I would so get all over Corky, it's not even funny. I might get lucky too since I'm female.
Violet is cool too. Put them together and the screen melts. *sigh*
...I kind of want to make a Corky-looking quizzy if possible
Not sure who for though. Either Sera or Josephine.
Don't get me wrong, I think Bioware DOES play it safe with their LIs for straight men. I think (consciously or not) they have an idea that straight guys wouldn't be into non-human LIs. Other people have noticed how in the ME games, only women have non-humanoid LIs.
Hopefully in DA4 they'll get a little more adventurous, but I have no doubt if straight males got a qunari and a dwarf LI, there's be MAYHEM (pun intended) and tons of guys complaining that Bioware was giving them the 'ugly' options.
Straight male here. I was visibly upset when I found out there would be no female Qunari romance options for my Inquisitor. There's something about a tall, buxom, pointy-eared woman with horns on her head that just feels so....right.

Tranquil are handled unrealistically, but making them realistic would make them significantly worse off than they are now. In order to function at the level they do, they probably require strict routines and scripts, because they are incapable of making emotional judgments and decisions. All judgments and all decisions are based in emotion, and a complete lack of emotion makes it extremely difficult to do these things. In the real world, real people who have no capacity for emotion (usually due to traumatic brain injury) have severe functional impairments as a result.
Imagine needing to eat but not being able to decide what you want to eat? I think that's probably a relatable experience, although not necessarily consistent. Then imagine if every decision you had to make was like that, every single day all day for the rest of your life.
Except, of course, you couldn't be bored or frustrated because those are emotions too.
I also do not see how they could have a relationship or a friendship because they do not feel any kind of love, affection, etc. The feeling is not present.
Can you link that?
Here is a youtube video of that scene with the mage turned Tranquil and her desperate lover. It is just so sad.

I see where you are coming from, but perhaps the romances will be so well crafted that you won't care what race the lady is!
