I wouldnt call it ranting (which is rude) , talking about romances in the romance thread after all. Just dont really appreciate non moderators snarkily telling people where they can post about what.
Yup. That's why I'm a bit nervous about Cullen. If Varric's still wary about qunari, then it wouldn't be such a leap for Cullen to be wary, either. Really, he's at the top of my list for the known LI's who could be gated. It would then make sense for there to be another straight male LI, and a female LI--Vivienne.
I could see Cullen gated against Qunari and maybe even dwarves. Sera and humans seems like the other possibility, since she doesn't like nobles.

Ah, that's a good point! Hmm, but, remember: there were only human player characters at one point. Do you think they added Sera's romance plot after they decided to add race selection? Was there enough time to add a whole romance plot for non-humans? (No, seriously, I wanna know. What's the timeline for that sort of thing?)

Well, they had to change something after races were added, I believe. I mean, they already would have had to alter everyone to add these gates. In the past they've had relationships as blind to blood mages and races that wouldn't really make sense. They may have started everyone like that and decided gating made more sense later, after adding more races.
The one thing that makes me think Cullen or the last male are more likely, though, is that Vivienne is the likely second. Even if it's for "story reasons", I'm not sure they'd gate two females and no males, even if Iron Bull was originally planned as gated.

A human mage wouldn't really be a noble, though, so then the race gating wouldn't really be cinematic race-gating. At least, my thoughts on the matter. Sera might disagree. 
After reading his character blurb, I think he's going to be a loner and not a LI. I really hope not, for the sake of his fans, but he seems the least likely to me out of the three men remaining. He seems like an interesting guy, so I don't mind if I'm completely wrong. As I mentioned earlier, guessing the LIs and their orientation hasn't worked out for me so well up to this point. So, I'm pretty much up for anything.
See, this is exactly why I want him to be a LI- his introverted and thoughtful nature make him unique and appealling. Plus, he's not a returning character (Cullen and Varric) and he's not another gregarious warrior (Iron Bull and Blackwall)(never mind that I'd be pissed if all the male warriors were a LI to female PCs but the lone female was not).
If I may 'that' person for a moment most of the reasons I've seen for why this character or that character may be race gated to this race and that race all seem like personal reasons to me rather than story ones. If it was a matter of the character just simply would not date race X it seems a little odd to say the race gates are for story ones since it wouldn't be a story reason it would be a personal one. But I could very easily be picking apart words cause I have nothing better to do while I'm unable to do much else due to my shoulder pain at the moment.

I saw "personal" reasons as "story" reasons, as in, the reasons are part of the LI's characterization. Which is part of the story. I mean, the characters have a lot of personal issues and those are all part of the story. People have taken the "story" thing to mean a lot of things, though.
Sera's not going to be race gated, neither is Dorian. Its a gut feeling I have and my gut feelings are usually 99% right. Trust me it's a gift. Just doesn't really fit with her or his character to me, Sera comes off as the type who would judge on actions than race and just cause they said she doesn't like nobles doesn't mean she wouldn't go for a human Inquisitor, if your going to go with that you might as well say she might be gated towards a dalsih elf inquisitor since she doesn't like nature. Dorian is already an outsider so being involved with other races shouldn't be a problem for him.

I never said I was opposed to the idea. Far from it, he seems like he would be an interesting romance. My opinion about his possible LI status shouldn't be taken as a reflection of whether or not I'd romance the character.
Besides, I've heard just as much debating and arguing about Varric as well, and as Nocte pointed out, they are all pretty likely. That was just my viewpoint on it.
I'd figure it's going to be Vivienne/X male character.

Well instead of being so needlessly combative, you could just go and post your concerns in the other thread where an ACTUAL dev of the game is listening and interacting with people about their feedback. Seems way more productive to me.

Yeah don't. He just got back from GaymerX where he essentially just talked about nothing but romance, has an infected leg and is on a **** load of pain killers, so I wouldnt lol.
Also there's the fact that he probably has no idea when they're going to reveal anything new anyway.

This is totally off-topic but it's been bothering me forever (okay, not forever, but ever since you changed your avatar) - is the person in your avatar a DA:O character? One of your Warden's? I must know!

I don't know if the writers would remove the ability for one race to access an LI. Especially not after seeing how much work JE put in to make the Iron Bull available to everyone. That's why I'm thinking that the writers literally could not make all the races work from a story stand point.

For me personally just the word story to me I think of the plot around the game so I guess maybe story=personal could count for any LIs heavily tied to the plot. Just for me a personal reason doesn't really equal story but then again I could be needlessly picking apart words at the moment.

Perhaps one could ask CL if they're going to discuss the Followers at SDCC. That's vague enough to possibly get a response.
I don't mind race gating I plan to play all the races at least once- so it means different playthroughs for me. Have trouble playing as a gay character even when I roll male I play him as straight. I don't know why, not ******-phobic and I support all sexuality options in gameplay but I can never romance same sex. Tried M/M with Zevran but romance Morrigan instead, same in DA2 flirted with Isabella but went with Anders with female mage.
My best guess is that is that they added in race choice for the player character, then prioritized the romance scenes with races that were easiest to animate and also made the most sense for a story standpoint. Then they ran out of time.

So, basically you think they wont gate anyone from humans, for sure? Hmm. That's possible. They are the large majority of PCs.
Dorian gated against qunari is another possibility I remembered. Tevinter has strong conflict with them, and it's possible he has an aversion. Solas doesn't like Iron Bull, so it's possible he has some reservations towards them, as well. We're not really sure where he's from, so it's possible he also had bad experience with them at some point. He apparently knows enough about them to have a strong opinion, so maybe he used to live around them?
