That would be an awesome twist !

The Big Bad is in fact the Warden. Oh my.

There was a "IGN rewind" video about DA:I and they actually evoked this theory ^^.

Mother of God...I think you may be onto something.  I grabbed this from the Eurogamer info dump:

  • Also: "I think the best villains are the ones you can relate to," teased Lee.

Our DA:O Warden, or Blackwall in DA:I? Because if it were my Warden, does that mean I'd be fighting her undead resurrected corpse? :P I think it would be hard for them to pull off the Warden being the bad guy due to the US thing.

And the only way to get the good ending in DA:I is to choose the sacrifice of the Warden in DA:O

I really hope this isn't the case. Although BioWare has the final say on what is canon, it would really throw the idea of the Warden having been our character out the window.

Wildlifequisition, Disneyquisition, what songs from musicals would they sing (Disney and otherwise)...

Fun can be just as endless as negativity I think.

Companions Disney songs? Woot!

I'd be grinning from ear to ear.

So much rage from the fanbase would ensue. It'd be glorious.

Wait, you want another ME3 ending fiasco? That might actually be seriously damaging to Bioware.

ME3's rage was the ending was nonsensical and had an antagonist pop up in the last five minutes.

I'm pretty sure the devs can make it so that such an ending (US being necessary for a good outcome) makes sense within the lore.

We'll see. But it strikes me as an idea from which there's nothing to gain and a lot to lose.

That theory holds no water considering in Bioware's own canon the Warden did the Ultimate Sacrifice. So no, it is very doubtful the Warden will be the Big Bad.

In this case, the people who didn't use the Keep would get a better ending than most of those who did, because the default state is an US warden...

So I don't see it happening, even if part of my certainty is a real hope it won't happen

True. I highly doubt it would.

Would be incredibly lulzy if it did though.

If the Warden is the big bad, then players who have a US warden would have no game to play, since the big bad wouldn't be around to do big bad shenanigans...

Nah then someone else does it. Just someone more incompetent and killable :P

I was not THAT serious you know^^. But... It's not like we have a lot to discuss at the moment (I mean, I could shout "Solaaaas" all day but I think It would be pretty tiresome for everyone ^_^ )

I'd be totally okay with that. The current protagonist always tends to be my favorite, so I'll happily sacrifice my warden if that means a beter ending for my inquisitor ^_^

I can totally see the final confrontation if the Warden and the Inquisitor had the same ideals.

if only I could find the "you betrayed the lore" gif that BSN did during the ME Deception shitstorm

Easy to solve: Undead Spiritbomination Warden.  They brought Shepard back from the dead 'easy' enough.  ;P

The second coming of Sheaprd was design from the ground up to be this; Shepard was never written off because s/he was always meant to be brought back.

The US Warden WAS killed off, and not some everyday death, no his soul was teared aprt to destroy the Archdemon soul, so there's simply nothing left, it's not the thing you want to write if you plan to bring the character back in a fem games (let alone at the crucial job of big bad).

Wait, this is the romance thread right? So, um, maybe we'll be able to seduce the big bad warden into giving up her evil ways.

I have to say that I can understand why people want non-humans races to have more presence, even aside from the fact that they're part of what makes fantasy settings great :P  I mean, after all, human is a privileged race, even if not all humans are, as individuals and as part of some of specific social classes and groups, but the same goes for white people, and that doesn't stop white people from being privileged. And, in terms of representation, it's never good to see a universe only or majoritarily from the perspective of the privileged. Of course we already had a lot of companion that are not humans, and in DAO we couldplay other races too, so I'm not saying underprivileged points of view are completeley absent from the story. But I do understand people wanting more of that, and I understand that it can have "political" value, even if elves, dwarves and qunaries are not real races and they don't need "representation".

The human centric focus tends to be an issue when other points of view are excluded or marginalized, including when it bleeds over into novels (like "The Masked Empire") or informative books that are supposed to be inclusive (like "World of Thedas"). It's not surprising that it's something that some players wish had been done differently for Inquisition, and the romance options. All the apparent love interests for a straight male are Andrastian humans, so it's different flavors of an Andrastian cultural and religious view with a romantic interest, instead of alternatives like dwarven, qunari, or elven. It's something that I find unfortunate.
