Meh...if the last LI are straight I'm going to feel the same way I felt when I saw the Female Inquisitor trailer.

Compared to the male trailers , you can barely see the FInquisitor.

So yeah Bioware is trying , it's great.

From a marketing point of view , it's just trying to get women attention (and money) without scaring away the men customers.

Yes I feel a bit cynical about the whole thing ...

And if some people get 2 romances and other get 3...no , that's not being "fair".

Things are not equal.

I thought they did great with Traynor. :/ She was sexy and not slutty; smart but not conceited; and she had weird little quirks and flaws that made her seem real to me. I personally don't see what they did wrong with it.

I agree. She was my favorite human romance option of the trilogy.

In my opinion, "fair" is "I, as a player, am not treated as an afterthought."

It is not "I get exactly the same number of choices as everyone else" or "I am being oppressed by not getting choices I personally want."

The lack of any choice (other than do the romance or don't) in DAO for gay players wasn't fair. So long as you have some actual choice, and at least some of that is content that was specifically written with you in mind, I don't think you get to claim to be an afterthought. Anything that goes beyond that, insofar as who gets 2 or 3 or 4 or whatever number of choices, isn't really relevant--at least, not to us. That's not something we set out for ourselves as a requirement going in.

For me, fairness is equal options between gender and sexualities like in DAII. Not feeling as an afterthought isn't fairness, it's about being properly treated. If I and my demographic have only two options, but everyone, 4, I won't feel it's fair, or anything close to this meaning, even if I have the choice.  ( And I could still think I'm an afterthought depending on the situation )

But it's Okay. I think it's clear. We should never expect such thing as a requirement, even with the DA team.

There is absolutely NO NEED to use the term "gender-gated."  Why is there a need to invent jargon when there are more efficient, correct ways to express that?

I agree. I dislike the term a lot.

I think it came up as a response to DA2 content since all relationships (but Sebastian) were open to both genders, players who liked that system started using "gender-gate" as a convenient and slightly derogatory term for the DAI system, and since we learned there will be race-gating, the two became equated.

But I personally don't like the term "monosexual" because it lumps three identities (lesbian, gay, and straight (both male and female)) into one group. And really, that's not good either.

Now I have a very bad feeling that the remaining LI's will be straight  :crying:

I think it's pretty miserable that even when they have as many options as they've ever had before and we've got a new game to look forward to all some people can do is whine that other people might have more.

Is just being happy and grateful for everything we do get (at least two LI's each and the first explicitly homosexual companions in Bioware history) too much too ask? Or is the faintest notion of a difference with regards to the LI's between protagonists of different gender/sexuality the most heinous thing imaginable?

Months ago, when we all started getting information about love interests, David said that everyone would get options. He also said that they were going to be fair but this would not necessarily meet a specific fan's idea of perfectly equal.

We've known this for some time. It's been repeated for several months now.

We've had at least 50 pages of arguments about it on this thread and more on the previous one.

This is not BioWare leading us on or betraying an implied promise.

Noche first used that term in April and it quickly caught on. No one has used it in a derogatory manner.

Eh, mostly it was out of all the romances, she had the least content in the game. You couldn't even call her to say goodbye or...anything. Also the romance was triggered with almost minimal flirting of any kind. It was really really stark and bare. Add to that she doesn't even get a date out unless you have a citadel DLC, and it is pretty clear she is the LI with the least content.

I can't be fully happy if straight gamers ALWAYS get more choices. We'll never expect to get more choices than heterosexuals. We don't even dream about it. Only thing we want is to have equal options for everyone. Is it too much to ask?

And fairness isn't necessarily a great thing. Romances are designed to fit the story, and I think changing everything just achieve something arbitrary like fairness actually does a disservice to the game.

If I had a choice between the game having 2 bisexual men to romance or 2 bisexuals and one straight man, I'd pick the first one because I'm kinda a selfish jerk. And games shouldn't be designed to fit my selfish tendencies.

Meh, I'd say Jacob or Thane had the least. Or Jack or Kelly if we are only counting "Grants you the achievement" options.

I'm not going to "be happy" that I'm assured maybe half as many options as other demographics. I'm going to keep hoping some developer, Bioware eventually or someone else, will actually make equality a priority. To suggest I should be happy with consistently less is, in my opinion, ridiculous and I don't care if that opinion isn't popular.

Yup, it could very well be the inquisitor's left and right hands, we just don't know their orientation or whether they race-gating yet.

I'm just glad SOMEONES doing it XV Beggars cant be choosers, and I'd rather have less options than no options... which might or might not be the case seeing as we dont know who the last 2 are, but I digress :v

I think I can safely say both hands are, in fact, player sexual. No race gates

But, her good-bye I think was the most painful. She talked about having kids and a house and once you leave, you lose contact of each other. Then well what's done is done :/

I'm curious if the people who are in such disapproval of the options thought the same in DA:O, because your choices are the exact same + a couple of more if they float your boat.

I didn't have options in DA:O.
