I was more referring to how some people imply that the advisor romances must be lesser than party member romances--so, even if the romance lineups were absolutely equal, perceived inequalities would still be used as the reason why not getting what they want is somehow worse than them being disappointed.
Why? I'm not sure. I guess they feel "I wanted something else" or "I was disappointed" is not bad enough.
DA's a different team then the ME, but I don't doubt that the Sera romance could eventually be drawn through a lens that might make it seem like something else. I really hope you enjoy it, regardless, if you intend on playing through it at all.
I think that advisor romances are generally perceived as long-distance relationships, so obviously most people would prefer to be close to their LIs (unless they want to cheat, but I understand it's not really an option anyway) all the time and let them be the part of their journey.
As for the problem with Traynor's romance, I think what pisses me off the most is the approach to lesbians, so very similar to how lesbians are treated in media nowadays, as a turn-on for straight men. Since the end of last year, 6 different shows that I followed used "lesbian sleeping with a man" trope, which is really damaging as it encourages dangerous homophobic myths about lesbian sexuality, that we're not "really" gay, can be "fixed" by "the right man". I've been through that myself, I've been sexually assaulted on the premise of being lesbian.
And the worst part about those shows for me is that half of them were run by gay men. People who should know better.
It's also worth to mention that according to GLAAD reports, gay men have much bigger representation that any other sexual minority group, including lesbians. And "gay man sleeping with a woman" almost never happens, if it does, it's emphasized how repulsed the man is. In other words, gay men are treated as "the real deal", their sexuality is treated with respect by our media.
Speaking of DAI again, if gay men are getting twice as much options as lesbians in this game, then it would be a sign for me that it follows the same route as movies and TV shows when it comes to those issues. And it would leave me with very low expectations about Sera's romance.
