Blackwall is actually a little older than Solas, though.
He's from Orlais though. Them Orlasians never too old for vajayjay (and penis, if he swings for both teams). Solas also just seems like he's going to be so focused on his studies and the like, on top of being an older man; the super nerd, if you will.
Edit: On second thought... Maybe it's Cole. You know... That would be a rather weird romance arc, but I could see it working, me and my limited knowledge of writing and relationships in works of literature... Unless, of course, BioWare confirmed Cole is a no-go.
She's not a troll. Her evaluation of the representation of lesbians on TV is spot on.
I don't want a repeat of the Vivienne thread though.
She was specifically asked to explain how gay men have misrepresented lesbians in traditional media.
Yeah and the reason she was was because she linked a image that pretty much said gay men could write straight people but not lesbians. Which had to do with this game's romances.
David Gaider, despite being gay, has also written very interesting and believable straight characters and romances. So your argument doesn't stick. You don't have to be straight to make compelling straight romances, you don't have to be a woman to make compelling female characters, and so on and so forth.
Then she linked that facepalm worthy image that pretty much is a blanket statement.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOO
Just once. Just once. I want a goddamn smart male LI. That's not too much to ask. ![]()

Bioware has confirmed since a while back that Cole is not romanceable.

If that's the case, then, I stick with Blackwall and Vivienne being the final two romances because of the reasons I listed for Varric and Solas.
least YT comments ain't as bad as Rule34 where gif's of Traynor getting tied up & raped have loads of positive comments wishing real lesbians could be "cured" that way
Point taken, but in fairness, complaining about post quality on Rule34 is a bit like complaining that your mouth tastes like **** after drinking from the toilet. Whereas on YouTube, even a video of cats being cute has the mysterious potential to bring Nazi apologists, racists and other rabid troglodytes out of the woodwork.

We don't know if he's truly from Orlais though, only that he's a Warden there
The wardens recruit from everywhere and then deploy, so he could be from anywhere. He could pretty easily be from the Anderfels or somewhere else.
Where did I say that? I never stated that lesbians are hypothetically getting short end of the stick because Gaider is gay man. I suggested that if that's what happens, then perhaps it's because there are no lesbians in their writing team, so no one felt any special need to fight for it.

I thought that gif scene from Modern Family was just funny and spot on, and served as good ending of the sentence about gay man writing straight people. Maybe it's just me and my social circles, but where I live, gay men and lesbians really don't have much in common. Then I look at foreign TV shows run by gay men, and their depictions of lesbians, and I only see confirmation for my opinion. I think it works both ways and I have doubts if lesbian could write good gay male romance story.
But it was never meant to have anything to do with this game, since I never demanded Gaider to write any lesbian romance.
But being stationed in Orlais for so long (AT LEAST 10 years for Blackwall, since according to his page, or at least the wiki page for him, he was already stationed in Val Chevin at the time of the 5th Blight) one is bound to adopt some of their customs and social norms, and even in some cases, accent. This happens in the real world to people who migrate to another country and make it their home for years and years, or, their home for life.

Spot on you say?
Considering it was in reply to the quoted it certainly seemed like it. But if it didn't fair enough. Also it wouldn't have anything to do with you "demanding" Gaider write a lesbian romance.
@Hutch
^This ain't the real world, man.
It may not be the real world, but, you can see many parallels between the Dragon Age universe AND the real world, and the psychological thing I mentioned is a very, very common thing that happens in the real world to people, so it wouldn't be shocking if BioWare has adopted the concept.
The majority of people who’ve weighed in seem to believe that Vivienne will be available for both genders, so you talking about the unfairness of her not being so appears to be jumping the gun.
Monthly remember that the overwhelming majority called Iron bull to be race gated ![]()

He was. The cinematics team just made it so it wouldn't have to be the case. ![]()
I would like to point out that there are folks who are less sure about Vivienne being an Li after what Gaider said.
. It's likely that the last options could be both male. In this case, lesbians wouldn't be alone with two options.

My English level is apparently not sufficient enough, what are you trying to say by this comment I didn't already explain?

Nothing at all.

John Epler is my hero ![]()
(Also, a lot of you didn't changed their mind when they said "two race gated for story reasons" where it was a huge hint that the gating had already been lifted, sorry Ryz, there's no getting away from it, and I shall savour my cockiness
)

Oh fine. HMPH. *eats Oreos*
As long as the gender gated options aren't the ones race gated I'm happy.
Unless of course it's Varric. Then I wouldn't mind both gates ![]()
OK. Ryan Murphy. In more than one of his TV shows. In Nip/Tuck, he made lesbian character fall in love and lust with a man. She even married him, but in the end he dumped her. Glee has been called out numerous times too for its handling of lesbians, though as far as I know Santana after suddenly "turning" into lesbian didn't sleep with a guy, though she made numerous sexual remarks to them, as well as comments how hot men are. Ryan Murphy is criticized for his misogyny as well.
Bryan Fuller. He made lesbian character have sex with a guy (and look like she was into it) in Hannibal, though nothing like that happened in original story, and then, used his gay male card to silence criticism.
Carter Covington. He's showrunner of "Faking It", TV show which was advertised as show about girls faking being lesbian for popularity. Despite this offensive-sounding premise, he asked lesbian audience to give this show a chance, that it's not what it looks like, etc. And indeed, it quickly turned out that one of the girls is apparently actual confused lesbian. And in the meantime, near the end, it was revealed by her actress that the character is indeed a lesbian and that she discussed it with showrunner.
And guess what. In the very end she not only slept with a guy and looked like she enjoyed it, but it was also a guy who's life purpose was to 'conquer' (actual quote from the actor) a lesbian. In one interview the showrunner was even asked why the scene looked 'sexy', and his excuse was that the director (who if I'm not mistaken is gay man too BTW) wanted to make it even more sexy, he toned him down.
The last example I'm not perfectly sure of, but I've read that current headwriter of BBC show "EastEnders" is gay man. He introduced confident lesbian character, who even told man who was hitting on her that it won't happen because she's gay, just to make her have sex with him month later.
From the top of my head, aside of Ryan Murphy, all examples are fresh.
Huh, I wasn't even aware such horribad portrayals like these ones are still being made today, as a lesbian too that was eye-opening and quite depressing to read. ![]()
All I can say is I'm thankful for Orange is the New Black, seriously.
Unless of course it's Varric. Then I wouldn't mind both gates
Oh no. I want that chest hair too... ![]()
