The thing I don't get about Jacob, why make him  default option in ME2 (forced flirting, ass shots and being basically Miranda-light) only to completely screw his romance in ME 3.

I suspect because the Garrus romance ended up being more popular and they couldn't do that with Thane since he was dying anyway.

Of course, I'd rather they hadn't done it at all.

I liked DA2 more than any of the ME series, too.

Same, I think DA 2 got a bad rap because everyone expected it to be Origins 2. Though yes there were some parts that could of been better but I loved it and I have played DA 2 more times than I have the entire ME trilogy combined.

They were probably expecting people to like Jacob and not find him bland. If Jacob had a good following he wouldn't have got the treatment he got in ME3.

ALTHOUGH, there were so many choices from the previous two games that got brushed under the rug (Rachni anyone?) that it may not have made a difference.

DA2 needed more time in development and everybody knows that. Even Bioware isn't really shy about saying it needed more time. The fact is, though, I did really enjoy playing it. I only played ME2-3 once and didn't finish all of the DLC, never played ME1, just did the "catch up" comic choice for 2. I always replay everything for the DA series at least once.

Let's stick to DAI discussion, not ME3.

Mass Effect 3 wasn't as good as ME 2, but it was still solid. (And I loved the MP.)

It wasn't screwed up, but it failed to live up to expectations. That's a death sentence when your fans are gamers. Though I'm not sure if anything could live up to the expectations some people had for ME 3.

I enjoyed ME3 although I will admit to being a sucker for a happy ending. ME2 was my favorite.

I have different qualifiers for favorite game in the series when it comes to Mass effect.  Mass Effect 2 had the best over all story (with a pleasant ending no less), but Mass Effect 3 had the best game mechanics and the combat was just much more enjoyable!  I'd add to that that Mass Effect 3 had some of my favorite story moments from the series (curing the genophage, peace between the Geth and the Quarians).

I'll stop now, and say I'm sorry for continuing the off-topic stuff.  Though until we get new romance information, it is a bit hard to stay in topic a the moment.  Better to talk about Mass effect then argue, at least!

Do you guys think we can expect anything at SDCC LI-related?

I kinda think those last 2 LI's are going to be left as a surprise, but I do wish they'd get it over with already.  I've got my heart set on romancing Blackwall and he will be the victim of my advances whether he knows it or not.  If he's not a LI I'll just have to play out the romance in a more exclusive mode (it exists solely in my head)

Didn't we figure out DA2's romances from a leak a week before release?

I enjoy DA 2 more than I did DA:O.  It isn't perfect, obviously, but I feel Hawke and the DA2 companions are just far and away better than any of my Origins camp-sitters.

Hopefully DA:I lives up to what DA2 could have been had they given it the proper development time.

Aside:  I would love them to release a version of ME1 using ME3's graphics and gameplay.

No, they posted them Valentine's Day, a few weeks before release. The orientations were from the leak though iirc.

not everything. The Garrus romance was damn near perfect. Also non romance related, but the whole cure the genophage story arc in ME3 was superb and personally one of my favourite parts in the entire series.

I don't see very much benefit from the romances being a surprise.

The people who don't care about romance won't care about romance surprises. The people who do care about romances (so far as we can tell) seem to mostly prefer knowing ahead of time.

I liked ME3, nothing about was really terrible. Yeah the endings could have been maybe a bit better but that doesn't take away from the fact the game as a whole was awesome. Plus, ME3 Citadel DLC has to be my fav of all time, I replay it simply for the jokes and fan service.

I absolutely loved ME3, even (especially) the endings. But I'm a big hard sci-fi fan, and I don't mind that the endings inhibited role-playing. I'm new to role-playing games and was into the ME series more for the sci-fi milieu, the narrative, and the characters. Of course I enjoyed the gameplay, etc. but any game can be "fun" to play. Only BioWare games provide that unique extra something!
