I felt the romances didn't take advantage of the bonus of spanning multiple games particularly well.

p.s Ending complaints drowned everything else at time. That doesn't mean there weren't complaints about other stuff, i was deeply unhappy at the massive expansion of auto-dialogue and mediocre content for me2 cast but when there's a massive trainwreck you don't stop to make a complaint about the coffee you had on the journey.

Agreed, about both things, really  but mostly about the romances  not taking advantage of spanning through a trilogy. That's one of the things that makes Kaidan's probably my favourite, that, somehow, the fact that he hates you in ME2 gives the romance some sort of "evolution". Much better than having Liara telling you in ME3 that she considers you a good friend

I admit though that I'm not a big fan of ME romances. Personally, I think DA ones are much better.

I think it depended upon when you caught up with your LI and if they were a party member. Garrus and Liara as well as Kaidan and Ashley had really nice spanning relationship arcs that were really well done. Miranda/Thane/Jack/Tali/etc were still nice, but not as good as the ones you could physically interact with a bunch. The scenes we did get were great, but I always thought it was a shame we couldn't get the nice pre-end of the world scene before Cerberus HQ with most (cept Tali) and an in-person goodbye on Earth (cept Tali). I include Tali here because we get her so late in the game that you miss a lot of the small moments you get with Garrus/Liara/Kaidan/Ashley.

We all know that Jacob's was a trainwreck. I don't even count Kelly or Samara. Though you could get a nod to them, they never really came close to the others.

Part of me would really like to see Bioware do another attempt with multiple games spanning the same protagonist now that they seem to be more willing to put in m/m content. I never got to experience the "spanning relationships", since ME only did m/m content in the third game. I always feel pretty disconnected from these conversations, but the concept is interesting, to me. The lack of relationships available until the last game and the feeling I got that Shepard was assumed straight are what really made it hard for me to relate to Shepard in comparison to my DA characters, though.

Aw, Dorian has no votes whatsoever in the romance survey SofaJockey set up... https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/daili

I voted for IB, personally (I need a qunbara romance), but I'm looking forward to Dorian too... ( ◕︵◕ )

That survey is going to be so skewed.

The BSN survey for most played Hawke resulted in female rogue, that was probably the least played combo going by past games.

I love the idea of a single protagonist spanning multiple games in theory. However until games work out a way to get away or work round better the notion that part 3/4 etc is the perfect place to enter the series i think they will always be flawed.

In some ways i think a single game spanning a longer time period may work better in terms of showing an evolving relationship. Think DA2's 10 year time frame was too long but liked a longer length meant they were able to cover the ground of evolving nature of romances more.

Edit;Voted for Sera in the survey, as she would be my preference if she wasn't orientation gated from the gender of my inquisitor.

Well, looks like Dorian and IB are tied now. Both are at 8.6%.

Solas is (imv) unexpectedly popular. Hm.

Okay, nevermind, now IB's down to 3.9%, same as Blackwall. Somehow, Sera has even less (2.6%).

Meanwhile, Solas has jumped ahead to 22.1%, surpassing Cullen at 20.2%...

EDIT: Changed already! Sera and Blackwall are both at 3.4%, while IB's up to 4.6%!

Solas is really close to Dorian for me, so I'm happy to see him doing so well. I just threw my vote to Dorian because I knew he'd need the help more.  :P

It will just come down to who's online to vote right now.  For instance the Varric thread is pretty dead atm...

I'm hoping this is the case with Vivienne and Sera. They're both really behind. Makes me wish I voted for one of them...

That's a bunch of BS right there.  The only major complaint about the game was the ending.  They did at least improve it a bit with the extended cut DLC which was free though.

The whole game was BS.

They could have done better, but it still made them a bit fresher than other romances.  And Liara and Garrus's romances had a good sense of comfortable togetherness, at least.

I think the problem with the survey is that it doesn't account for the fact that a decent amount of people will play multiple times. I mean, for example, I'll definitely do Dorian's romance. If Solas and Blackwall had a path, I'd get around to playing them, as well. Whoever is your first choice doesn't get a statistical point over anyone else you'd also romance in subsequent playthroughs. I think it would have been more effective if they set up one with boxes and just asked to check who you would romance out of all the options.

Yeah, that would've been best. I mean, I'm going to romance all of the non-straight companions eventually. I probably won't even do IB first (just really need that qunbara).

Wow, Sera shot up there really suddenly. She was way back and now she's in second. A bunch of her fans must have noticed all at the same time. lol

I'm a little surprised Cullen is back at like 3rd now, though. I thought he and Cassandra would fight it out for 1st and 2nd based on BSN opinions. I expected Solas to be popular as well. I'm not really surprised the women aren't reflecting their actual statistics, though. The fact is, on average straight guys are less likely to actually participate in this kind of thing.

I think, these "weird" Results stem from the Fact, that this Poll only reaches (a friction of) the BSN, while the Predictions in this Thread and others were based on the "whole Lot of the Players".

I haven't played through any of the females romances in ME (running through a male Shep for the first time right now, starting with ME2) But I thought the continuation of Garrus from ME2 to ME3 was done well. Thought Kaiden was handled well between the three games. Thane and Jacob.....not handled well.

I think one of the reasons why there is more 'attachment' to Shepard than the Warden or Hawke is due to you playing as Shepard in three games. Spending that much time with an avatar, you're likey to attach to it more. (my thoughts on why although I loved my Wardens and Hawkes, I identify more with Shepard....plus the whole idea of being able to be a kick-butt female in a stereotypical 'male' world (i.e. sci-fi and guns))

Of the DA romances I think I liked Zevran the best (also liked Morrigan...but I only romanced her 1x), mainly since it was more involved to get to the 'love' stage with him.....RL I'm okay with the transition from FwB to 'one and only'. Found Leliana to be all sorts of creepy wouldn't touch her again even with a 20 light-year pole. Romanced her one time. Alistair, I also liked, especially the first time playing as an elf and getting the 'I'm breaking up with becuase...king.' Where is Mel Brooks when you need him (although with the 'hardening' you can be your own Mel Brooks I guess)? Also liked the Anders (even when I knifed him) and Fenris romances in DA2 mainly since some of those romantic lines they said sound like stuff my husband would say....(he's so adorably cheesy at times). Romanced Merril once (too wide eye'd stupid for my taste), Isabella not at all.

Just got done with ME3. While initially my biggest complaint with ME3 was the ending....there is soooooooo much more to complain about....the amont of autodialogue (I mean heck, I VACUUMED my house yesterday while auto dialogue played), the inability to skip cut scenes (I've mixed up batches of cookies during these), the graphics issues (getting stuck on things....especially during the planet scanning and in the cockpit, then having to reload....ME2 is bad with this too...never had as many graphical 'sticks' in the DA games).....story stuff (ugh.....Quarians).

I hope Vivmancers (that's what they're called, right? or am I getting her mixed up with Varric?) get on it soon. It's said to see Vivienne in last place.

Speaking of colloquial names for fans of certain characters, what are they all exactly? I know "Cullenite", "Solassian", and "Varricmancer" for sure, but I don't know what the others refer to themselves as...?
