Personally, I'm hoping that the Vivienne fans just haven't voted yet.

I think Vivienne fans don't necessarily want to romance her.

Vivienne will always be in my party and I expect her to be a fascinating character. I'm cool with the idea she's an Aveline that I can flirt with but not romance.

The thing about the poll is that it's not even just an issue of it being only people that come to the forums. It's also only going to be people that are especially interested in the romance feature that actually vote. Not everyone that does a romance cares enough to click an offsite link to make sure their input gets counted in a random poll. I do think it's passingly entertaining to see the results, but it shouldn't really be taken seriously. Although, it seems like nobody was really taking it that seriously?

I don't think anyone actually takes it seriously. It's more a way of passing the time and showing support for your favourite characters.

To be fair, 25% is still pretty good. Tali was still easily the second most popular one. I don't think it's really surprising, though. I'm not surprised most players picked the incredibly conventionally attractive girl over the funky alien chick. 25% for someone with backwards knees is nothing to scoff at. lol

Yeah, based on what we know about her personality so far I can see why she'd be a tough sell, romance-wise. Though I'd personally be more interested in romancing her than I am in Sera. Regardless, she's probably one of the most interesting new characters. Perhaps discussion about her hasn't really taken off because Bioware revealed her fairly early on.

Hell if she's made available to my fem I'm not gonna complain. :D  Still undecided on my first run who I'm gonna pick as it is, just gotta play and see.

I should've been clearer: Vivienne romance fans.

Maybe they should come up with a word...

Yh, me too. I very much want to romance her, but idk. She was at around 9% when i voted (tied with Sera). It's depressing seeing her at 3%.

I think it's probably because she seems tu "suffer" from the same Thing as - for example - Miranda, who is also not very popular on the Forums. From what we know, they seem to fit in a similar Type of Woman and that just isn't so popular on the BSN.

For some Reason. I don't understand the Reason, though. Maybe because I'm shallow enough to be completely knocked off my Feet by her Looks alone.

I'd disagree fundamentally with the notion that Miranda was unpopular.

I never posted in the ME forums, so I don't know who BSN thinks is popular in that regard.

Hm. Was never a big Visitor of the ME Forums either. I just heard People didn't like Miranda very well on these Forums. Apparently, I am mistaken.

Based on the bsn, you'd think that everyone played and prefer femshep. Reality : Only 18 % played femshep in M2 and M3.

Based on the bsn, you'd think that Miranda is hated, despised by almost everyone. Reality : 40% romanced her in M2, while Tali who had the biggest fanbase ever ( and also very fanatic ), only 25%.

Based on the bsn, you'd think that playing a human is boring for most people. Reality of it, most players play humans and didn't care about other races.

Male characters are more popular on the bsn for the romances ? I bet that the result will be different with all the players. They will be far behind the female characters, like in M2.

Yeah, that infographic was great. It hammered home that the BSN really, really isn't representative of the fanbase at large. Like, at all. There is a huge silent majority of straight male gamers.

Yup, I used to post in that section alot when it was still open, until all the unpleasantness happened, the infighting and so forth resulting in that section getting axed.

I've always wondered at these statistics and how they take into account multiple playthroughs; I played both fem-shep and male shep, I played all the races in DAO.

I'd just think there'd be more overlap between the categories.

The vast majority of people only do one playthrough if they finish the game at all.

Multiple playthroughs are counted. For example, that '5% of players picked dwarf' includes anyone who ever clicked 'start' on a dwarven character, even if they didn't finish the origin story.

I don't think that fan threads are a good indicator of the popularity of a character. According to most ME3 polls and surveys, Liara was the most popular love interest, followed by Tali and Miranda.

30% of DAO players played a female Warden.

The DA series is more friendly towards women and the LGBT community than ME, so I don't doubt they have a somewhat higher statistic with those demographics. I don't think you can assume ME and DA have exactly comparable statistics. They don't handle the games all that similarly.

Where did you get that from? I don't recall them releasing any infographs for DA:O.

I'm very used to my preferences being not particularly popular (not talking about DA, but more generally), and I honestly don't know what should be the problem with that :) why would anyone be "proud" of her/his favourite LI being the most popular? (or "sad" for the opposite). There's no way to prove your personal taste is better, and if there's one I'm pretty certain sharing it with most people is not it  :P I really don't see why the poll should be a problem
