Minority characters seem to be very unpopular with the masses, Jacob, Sky, Vivienne, Cortez. I guess it's just taste, but I am a bit sad how skewer it is.

Well also, the writers didn't do Jacob any favors in the third game. So that soured a lot of people's opinions about him.

Where did you get that from? I don't recall them releasing any infographs for DA:O.

David Gaider mentioned it in the sex in video games talk, though I wasn't clear if it was characters or players.

I honestly don't know what should be the problem with that :) why would anyone be "proud" of her/his favourite LI being the most popular? (or "sad" for the opposite).

Potentially some anxiety for those who are still hoping for one of the remaining four. "Wow my favorite really isn't very popular... maybe that's indicative of his/her potential as a LI!"

Wouldn't it be awesome if Dragon Age: Inquisition got professional infographs for that sort of information instead of getting this in trickles from the writers?

I do hope they make the information available to the general public.

I wonder if they worry sometimes that people would just use it to try to demand they do things a certain way. If it were me, I would be concerned people would take it in an annoying direction. I am interested in what the numbers are, though.

Miranda was very popular as far as I recall. Her thread was a on the biggest with Liara, Tali and Kaidan.

A character thread isn't the only thing I take into account to see if a character is popular or not. I read the Miranda thread everyday, and it was basically the same people talking over and over on ton of pages about everything about Miranda. There were many threads complaining about Miranda, many vocal haters, many thought she was boring, didn't like her arc story with " I'm not perfect ", mocked the camera angles on her butt, called her Michael Jackson, etc.

Also, in a character thread, you could have just 30 talkative folks, and the thread could move very fast everyday. The tone overall on the Mass effect board for Miranda was very negative, while it wasn't the case with Tali. Overall, almost everyone liked her, even if people weren't her fan.

I've been in many mass effect forums, and on internet, Miranda was really bashed, while Tali got all the love no matter where you were. And the Tali fans were legions.

Miranda is clearly popular, but more with the silent majority, or people who don't give much their opinions about her, but the hatred seemed very strong with the hardcore fans.

I know what you mean. I just want it to be available to folks doing research on gaming and gender, or what-have-you.

Please not. That would appeal to my inner Hipster and I had to do some weird non-conformist Playthrough.

If they reveal any LIs, I suspect it would be at the panel tomorrow.

Ikr, Bioware seems intent on hoarding all the info for as long a possible. i.e. release date extension

Yeah, but I am hoping for something today

Play a female dwarven rogue who is completely evil and doesn't romance anyone.

If Inquisition has a mechanic like ME 2's Normandy Upgrades, get it to 100%.

I'm very used to my preferences being not particularly popular (not talking about DA, but more generally), and I honestly don't know what should be the problem with that :) why would anyone be "proud" of her/his favourite LI being the most popular? (or "sad" for the opposite). There's no way to prove your personal taste is better, and if there's one I'm pretty certain sharing it with most people is not it  :P I really don't see why the poll should be a problem

I can understand the worry.  I had it myself when ME3's game data was released.  Concern that they'd be used by people in arguments and discussions as 'proof' against certain content, or utilized as fact how women really don't play x game/genre/games period, why have x or y minority content at all since it is hardly used, etc. etc.  And it has been used in such ways around the interwebz often enough.

Concerns and annoyances aside, I'd like the data from Inquisition available to the public, though I'd really like to see more detail specifics on the information compared to the ME data.  For example, "of *players* that finished ME3,18% finished ME3 as FemShep."  If a player makes 6 FemSheps to finish the game with, do they all count, or is it counted as one per account of someone that makes a FemShep?

I know we're all tense about it, but I think we all know too that there's no real relationship between one thing and the other... even if there was a real relationship between the poll and the actual preferences of players, which would be a huge coincidence

I am rather surprised how popular Solas is in this survey. Who knew bald elves were so attractive?

But we all know how cute awkward ex-Templars are. :D

What about Kasumi? I thought everyone loved Kasumi? Or are you talking about just romanceable characters?

She's an Asian female, and it's more sexualized and exotic. It's usually the less mentioned race and gender on the media that are very unpopular like Asian men or black women. Look at how many Asian females are on TV shows and who their LI usually is and look at how many Asian men are on TV in roles that are not portrayed as nerds or sissy.

Jacob was unpopular even before ME3 comes out. I think that's one of the reasons why they make him cheated since they think no one would care.

Dorian is a minority and he's pretty popular considering he's a gay option.
