The thing is, there is no maximum amount that could be allocated on a romance, and since we don't know the word budget (and enven if we did, we wouldn't understand what that represents), we can't say if the romances are less or more.

Also true.

It's why I'm not getting overly invested in this. Minimum we'll get 2/2/2 by the sounds of things, anything more? Eh. I'm easy. Bioware's done enough they know what they're doing. Who am I to judge/complain?

Someone told me earlier that they don't conceive of any of them as LIs at first. It's about their characterization/story in general. LI options come later apparently.

I'm not sure if it's true or not.

That's actually the best way to write things in my opinion. Character comes first, banging them is just a fan optional!

I think the 2/2/2 split is quite enough, anymore than that and it's getting too much.

I agree with this tbh

I'd be fine with 2/2/2 as long as NCP romances aren't included in that count. I feel strongly that real world gender/sexuality combos should get an equal number of companion lis.

Of course the NPCs are gonna count, Bioware has already said our advisors are gonna play bigger roles than normal NPCs

Two problems with playersexual characters (well more but I'm only doing 2).

1. It makes the characters sexbots for the player with no preferences or desires of their own.

2. If a straight person played the game, they would never be aware that gay characters exist and vice versa.

1, They clearly could still have desires. Do things they find against their morales and they can disapprove and break off romance. They just would have variable sexuality based on playthroughs the same way the protagonist can be either male or female etc.

2, You can easily have fixed gay characters outside of the LI's either as companions or NPCs.

And that equates to "of course they are going to count" how exactly?

Cullen's a confirmed romance.

I'm now wondering if they won't have Sera, a gay male, and then all others bisexual. Following that, what if the character struggling with their sexuality is something like Iron Bull, fretting over enjoying his conquests more than the qun allows, or some such?

that wouldn't be very fair. I'm not against it, but if there is two S/S LI, is fair having two straight LI too.

The bisexual LIs would be available to everyone. If you want to play them straight, play them straight. I see what you're getting at, though.

I'm glad that they moved from "everyone is bi" to more realistic formula. Sexual orientation is big part a character's personality and it's a big loss to equalize all charaters at this.

As for about romances in a subject, in Inquisition - it looks least interesting BW game at this aspect for me at this moment. For a male player character at least. It's just 3 female companions and only two of them available as a romance option. And... both aren't appeal to me - neither by visual nor by personality. Both Cassandra and Vivienne feels... too masculin.

On the other hand Sera looks very interesting and the fact that she is unavailable for a male character will probobly drive me to play as a fem PC.

I'm gonna laugh if the NPC's have the best romances of them all.

So how about that potential male dwarf romance with Varric.

Anyone else find that ... somewhat hot?

No?

Honestly I feel is six is too much. I thought 4 all bi was the sweet spot.

I rather get more friendship/antagonistic content at the more than 4 Lis point honestly =/

Well, we don't know how friendship/antagonist content will be handled., and if there'll be more content.

I hope it didn't suffer for the increase of romance content.

True. It'd suck hard if it's like ME2 and I can't comfort certain companions because I'm not willing to hop into bed with them.

Same.

I understand that. I don't think the gay lis should be regulated to NCP's (a la ME) and I don't think the reverse should be the case either.

At the moment, I'm not terribly interested in much of anyone.  The only ones I was particularly interested in are Iron Bull (I don't care for warriors or his model), and Varric (who's debatable as a romance until further notice).  I'm sure I'll learn to like them as I get to know them, though.  Really hoping they all bring something different to the table.

They said they wanted to donate their resources to the most interesting romances, which makes me wonder what they liked so darn much.

I think it's more likely that the romances themselves suffer from more options

We get more potential LI's, but less romance scenes I'd guess

I hope not.  I felt there was something lacking in the ME romances where I could only romance them at certain points.  I liked DA2's option of being able to kiss or invite them back to my tent at will.

Didn't bother me so much in DA2.  Maybe because after awhile some of them start saying romance things when clicked.

Fenris: I enjoy following you.

...Anyone ever wonder how much money they'd make off an actual Dragon Age dating sim?  Like, as a phone app or something?

Not necessarily. They might've increased the overall romance content.
It is howewere a possible outcome. We'll to wait and see when we'll play the game.
