It was more of a shot at the folks that have rallied against Sera being a lesbian, and that "all the other lady companions were ugly."  I honestly hope that we all get as equal content as possible.

2/4/2 is my preferred stance.   :)

I wonder if there's any chance the hypothetical female NPC romance is someone other than Scribe Girl? Like maybe Dagna. All I know is I wouldn't even begin to consider Scribe Girl as long as she. Kept. That. Bun.

:D

That seems a little harsh on us straight males. Why wish that on us? And when would this ever happen?

See my answer to Street.   Please don't take any offense.  Besides, you haven't gone into threads crying "OMG Sera is a lesbian everyone else is ugly straightphobia" blah blah blah.  It was a shot at them, not at straight men in general.  I tried to make that clear in my post.

Yes, those are all male only flirts.

Women do have cam men.

Jack didn't even get a "for the dramaz" thing. It was just half-assed.

Citadel made up for it somewhat, but I'm not in the mood to praise DLC to make up for the main game. At the moment.

I understand the glee you might get out of this, but it would suck for us straight men who actually like a variety of personalities and characters.

Just being happy become someone is a "woman" or "there" is not really my idea of fun.

I think it's more that it's nice for straight men not to be catered to exclusively for once. Women and LGBQ+ people are usually afterthoughts.

I wasn't a fan of Jack in ME2, but I actually kind of liked her in ME3. Which funnily enough, if the opposite of what happened with Miranda. I guess the fact that Jack look vaguely similar and had a vaguely similar backstory to Kerrigan from Starcraft helped.

Well, I'll definitely praise it for finally returning The Wrex as a companion .

Am I the only one that keeps picturing Scribbles with spectacles on?  Kind of like a Thedas version of a hot lady librarian?

It seems "a little harsh" that non-straight non-male people hardly ever get prioritized in video games. If someone venting about it a little is the worst that can happen to you, then you've clearly got a lot going on for you already.

About the 2/4/2 LI split that some people are speculating/hoping for I'd be curious to know who you'd think would fall into these slots since we have more male companions than female so it wouldn't really split evenly or am I missing something?

DA2 didn't feel like minority groups were an afterthought.

People might've complained about the system (like that guy who wrote the stupid "Straight Male Gamer" article), but I think when all is said and done, people are going to look back on DA2 fondly. It was inclusive, and gave the players room for more imagination. You didn't even give a second thought about creating a character and worrying if/how/when they were going to be gated. It was just something to be enjoyed your own way.

It does seem like her model lacks something. Nothing can't fix the bun, though. That's just dreadful. Who came up with that and called it fashionable? Probably the same person who invented ties.

I am hoping I can romance Vivienne. She's the only one I'm interested in, if not a lesbians I'll just make a dude again like I did for Morrigan. Still holding out hold that she is an option for romance, haven't seen anything confirmed.

I will agree with you. I praise DA2's system because it gave us equal choice of LIs, something Origins lacked.

I keep wondering why she wouldn't be. To me, her whole world she comes from and her approach to life (ballrooms, social manuevering, fashion) is going to find less fans in males than females.

Well, almost everyone was convinced that Vivienne wouldn't be available  or lesbian. But since Sera is the lesbian companion, and Bioware said there would be more than before in the romance area, now many have changed their mind and think it might be possible that Vivienne can be romanceable and bisexual.

This is my guesses:

Hetero:

Cullen

Vivienne

Bi:

Iron Bull

Cass

Scribbles

Solas

Gay:

Sera

Dorian (no, not because of his clothes, I have a different theory about that)

Straight women in theory could have: Cullen, Iron Bull, and Solas

Straight men could have: Vivenne, Scribbles and Cass

Lesbians have Sera, and in theory could have Scribbles and Cass

Gay men would have Dorian, Solas and Iron Bull

Everyone receives equal content.   ;)

I don't really understand the reasoning behind keeping the orientations secret.
The only thing I can think of is that keeping things under wraps if they are not set in stone. But with only a few months away and some of romance stuff are revealed, how much still hasn't been decided?

They've previously told us about companion romances prior to the game coming out.

We probably shouldn't conflate 'hasn't happened yet' with 'not happening.'

Dorian (no, not because of his clothes, I have a different theory about that)

Now I'm curious.

And what's wrong with his clothes? I would totally dress like Dorian, if I lived in a more appropiate setting. They look like Oberyn Martell's to me

I like this plan! And what is your theory regarding our devilishly handsome magister?

A general question got tossed out recently about why some folks think that Dorian might be gay.  This was my response:

With Dorian, one of the reasons why I think he'll be a gay LI is due to his background.  We haven't seen a Tevinter magister with a good heart in the games yet (Mae I'm sure will get her time to shine in the next game.)  Also, there is a serious lack of gay men that aren't villains in video games.  I've checked out the statistics, and let's just say there is a disturbing trend of gay men being represented as villains in video games.  Or as a joke.

I figure with Dorian, we could get a Tevinter magister to get to know that isn't a blood mage/slaver/all around loony, and we get a gay companion, a hero, in a video game that isn't there to be mocked, scorned or turn villainous.  It would be a welcome counter-balance in many respects.

Something else I wanted to mention that's a quirk about Tevinter.  They say homosexuality is fine, but only with slaves.  What if Dorian wanted a real connection with someone he could love, with someone that he didn't have to hide?  Something more than just a tumble in the hay?

@Street I mentioned his clothes because a few posters have sited his rather flamboyant style of dress as "proof" that he's gay.

I actually do totally agree with this. I think DA2's system very well may end up being a far less frustration filled system that was easier to enjoy. I guess we'll see what the final product is with the new gates.
