That would be fine. IMO elves really don't need to constantly be among the list of LI's. It's not like there is a huge desire for Solas from BioWare's male audience anyway.

You really think the people who want to romance Character X with an opposite-sex PC won't balance out the ones that wanted to romance them with a same-sex PC? If Cassandra or Cullen gets announced as a straight LI, I expect plenty of joy along with some understandable sighs from disappointed lesbians and gay dudes. Basically what happened with Sera but the other way round.
And if they announce Varric as a straight LI, I will be throwing a one-woman party, with booze and streamers and dancing. The neighbours will probably call the cops.
(I mean, I would be just as happy if he were a bisexual LI, but it's my lady dwarf I want to pair him up with.)

I'm glad I did, I enjoy talking about characters and what they might be like not knocking on them for how they look. (though I will and have gone giddy over ones I thought were attractive ^^; )
Edit: though I guess I just did just now with Izzy 
course in my weak defense that was more about how disproportional she looked which admittedly she still did in the game but it was with her chest rather than her face and I feel like I'm digging a deeper hole for myself so I'll go stand in the corner and think about what I've done.

I'll admit, I'd squee pretty loudly too if my expectations are incorrect and we get Varric as a LI. I'm playing a dwarf as well, and with the race gating, I've got a tiny bit of hope that I'll have him as a LI. I do know regardless of his romantic availability, I'm happy to see him again.

Honestly if I saw a screenshot of him where he didn't look like he was covered in oil I might like the look of him a little more but he just looks so so shiny

Some of those stills from the trailers of the companions made them look rather odd (like Varric ending up with red eyes,) so I'll chalk up the "shininess" to that for now. Otherwise, I'm looking forward to meeting the cast as well.

Yup. Zev was my only option in DAO and in DA2, Anders's romance just got to be too much for me, so I nope'd the hell out of there.
