Here's an idea for the next game. Maybe, when some new fact appears that the protagonist should know but the player doesn't (perhaps there is a New Person mode) the relevant information appears above the dialogue wheel in a quick few lines?

Like a codex entry pop-up? I could go for that.

I don't think it really happens so much as it's a caricature of some of his more idiotic comments. They mostly toned it down for ME2, and the whole issue is based off of a fairly small number of incidents. You can them off on one hand really.

The biggest, worst example that stands out to me is the 'Asari mating' line (that can be skipped), and the 'Turians did the same thing to us' line (which you can also avoid), though I'm more forgiving of this one since it can be said that the Genophage isn't something that a lot of humans are going to have knowledge or information about since it didn't really affect them, nor do they really bother around Krogan too often.

The lines where the character can easily avoid them don't bother me, especially the Asari mating line. Just don't pick it!

Regarding the Collector Base decision in ME2:

Jacob: It's better because we'll do it? Shepard, this is way over the line.
Kasumi: Shep, he's talking about doing it all again. How will that help anything?
Miranda: I'm not so sure. Seeing it first hand - using anything from this base seems like a betrayal.
Samara: You have not really defeated the enemy if you adopt their methods.
Tali: Shepard, we fought to stop it. Us using it doesn't make it right.
Thane: Shepard/Siha, I've made a life of killing those who deserve to die. We must struggle to not become what we hate.

Shepard: No matter what kind of technology we might find, it's not worth it.

Shepard: We'll fight and win without it. I won't let fear compromise who I am.

Shepard: Too many lives were lost at that base. I'm not sorry it's gone.

Shepard: I'm going to do what you brought me back to do. I'll fight and win this war without compromising the soul of our species.

The asari mating one is easy enough to avoid, since the paraphrase is very obvious in its intent, but the genophage one comes out of nowhere, which is annoying.

Regarding the Collector Base decision in ME2:

Absolutely. Those lines (and that entire chain of thought) are just completely absurd.

Contrary to what George Lucas will tell you, you can use the methods of your enemy and be a cruel bastard without being evil. It's never as simple as so many people believe.

What matters is that you win. That you accomplish your goals. It matters not how you get there, only that you do get there.

I thought the only way to avoid comparing the genophage to the FCW is by not talking to Wrex, period.

I'm not sure what the other options lead to, though with ME1, I wouldn't be surprised if Shepard brought it up no matter what.

I'm pretty sure it's one of those wheels where every dialogue option is the same. Sort of like how we're given three different flavors of "you got what you deserved" to choose from when discussing the Geth with Tali.

If I remember correctly they have different tones, like the line is the same but the way Shepard says it is different. I think that's the conversation.

Not so much a line, but the handling of Primarch Victus' son who crashed on Tuchanka. Everyone is angry at him for making a 'bad call' but I believe he made the right one. If he had ordered his men to fly straight into Reapers they'd all be dead. He chose what he thought at the time was a safe route, but the Reapers found out and attacked. I can understand Lil' Victus feeling guilty, and I can understand his men being upset that so many of them are dead, but I can't understand why everyone is so angry at him for making the arguably correct call. At the very least some of his men survived and the mission was completed; that would not have happened if he had gone head first into the Reapers.

Tougher to accept Victus' decision when he's the one who says he made a bad call. To my mind he didn't think ahead to the consequences of his decision.

His son seemed like a competent enough guy (he got the mission done and he was part of whatever elite team) at the very least he never seemed really incompetent. The issue just seemed to attract attention because they were related, like if they weren't related nobody would think twice about the decision to assign Victus's son.

I agree, and besides he was a hero in the end. Garrus was right about that... it's just, he made a bad call, and he knows it, and he took responsibility for it.

Even then I'm not sure. The way he talks about it, it seems like the other plan was running into certain death. In that case I don't think it was a bad decision regardless of how it turned out, it actually seemed the only logical choice.

Commander Shepard has become a legend by ending the Reaper threat. Now you can continue to build that legend through further gameplay and downloadable content.

Thread title: The most ABSURD statements in the game series.
Your post: trolling about BioWare PR.

Fans like yourself are the reason why BW has been increasingly avoiding the fanbase, and why they are right to. You are not contributing any constructive, worthwhile criticism, nor are you trying to, and you blame your behavior on BW because you can't take responsibility for your actions like any mature adult could do.

BW is in no way required to take crap from fans who refuse to approach them in a civil manner and take a first-world problem such as video game endings way too seriously, crying bloody murder when they're not catered to.

One bad apple spoils the bunch. There are lots of bad apples here.

Can't wait for the Bioware Internet Defense Force  ^_^

You're right, it was the right call, the other option was complete suicide. It seems like the rest of the Turians prefer to charge in head first into the enemy and go out in a blaze of glory though. It probably stems from their "If one Turian is left standing it was worth it" philosophy.

Poor dope doesn't even know what a VI is.

Lol when does that happen?

When arriving at the Citadel for the first time in ME1, one of the first dialogue choices for Avina is: "Are you real" or "are you alive" or something like that.

The more neutral version is (afaik) along the lines of: "What are you"

Usually, that philosophy is acceptable, but the way they go about practicing it is problematic. Especially against Reapers, who really are immune to any type of attack you throw at them, so it's entirely a waste as well.

I stand by what I wrote. But I actually had to laugh a bit at the mention of that notorious endgame message.

What's wrong with it? It strikes me as being simply true, Shepard's a legend, but there might be more stuff to play.

(I say this as someone who hasn't bought any DLC ever, unless UEs and the NWN Premium mods count.)
