Yes Von Uber, I am that old. In fact yesterday was my 30th birthday I remember playing AOE CAC and later Homeworld on dialup. RTS was pretty big back then and consoles didn't even have an internet connection in fact I think they still had cartridges, with the exception of Sega Saturn. Then along came PlayStation, pretty soon the rest was history.
P.S. Killer Instinct is still my favourite game of all time.

They can make EDI. They can make the geth. They can make omnitools and kinetic barriers and hyper advanced weaponry. They can make quantum entanglement work as a communicator. They can bring back the dead. They can fly spaceships at FTL speeds. They can send holographic drones out into combat. And yet:

Eh my query was in regards to not being able to play mp on pc.
And 30 is not old, I'm older and there are some here who make me feel like a spring chicken.
And I started on a commodore 64..

It must be quite mind blowing to look back and see the progression, I certainly feel that now (and I was born in 1980!).

I would be a happy camper if a company was to remake pong to play on the current systems.

Not what I'd said unless I missed something. PC was the only place you COULD play MP, consoles were a strictly SP experience. I remember the Commodre and the Atari 2600 Frogger, River run etc. Only thing to really change is graphics most games still go in a straight line down a corridor solve a problem or kill something in front of you keep going.
GTA has changed a lot from what it started out as though.

Less of an "absurd statement" and more "absurd exposition"
I realized just the other night after I finished up Leviathan, that the exposition Leviathan gives at the end is basically the same exposition the Catalyst gives in the EC, only with different terminology and the fact the Catalyst refers to himself rather than to separate person. There are differences, but overall the conversations give practically the same information.
This, imo, renders the conversation with the Catalyst where you can ask him all those questions rather pointless, since anyone having played Leviathan (and there's no reason to say Leviathan isn't canon) could easily connect the dots (in-universe OR out) and come to the conclusion that the Leviathan's "Intelligence" is the Catalyst.
Literally the only thing asking him (the Catalyst) those questions does is confirm Leviathan's story, but then Leviathan has no reason to lie or mislead you in the first place. This actually bothered me because it sort of negates the need for the EC's major selling point, which is the ability to question the Catalyst on the who/what/why.

The most absurd thing about the entire trilogy is probably that the council didn't just trow out Shepard and Anderson from their chamber in ME1.
A more realistic response would have been the following:
"You had a vision about the destruction of the protheans? Are you sure? What kind of drugs are you taking on duty commander. And you bring this up here Captain Anderson? Get the hell out of here and come back when you are sober again you two drunkyards.
Damm I'm getting tired of those humans and their nonsense. Sorry we even called you about such ridicioulous claims Saren. Continue with your good work for the council."

Agreed there Mike.
As mentioned in another thread, when megabucks are being poured into a game, it positively *MUST* be a winner since there is so much competition. Great games cannot be designed by left-brained geeks (who are experts in computer tech). In order to write a compelling & interesting story (& fun to play) a upper-right brainer (usually a computer idiot) is our hero. Come on all you guys -- despite all our gripes about the game, some absurd things make it fun to play (in places). As many of you are aware, Hollywood's Writers Guild is now stepping in and writing our games. Hooray!! Ever see that LONG list of rolling credits?
Stop & smell the roses sometimes. Don't be too quck to run thru that rusty junkyard on the hammerhead --- or walk thru that creepy Geth ship. Notice the details on the wall, the mist in the air and other "sensory" things only a right-brainer could dream up. Yes our "interconnection" is making us smarter (Legion would be impressed).
One of the BETTER improvements I've seen in the nomenclature of the tech is that the computer geeks have FINALLY learned how to modularize their subs and FINALLY learned to issue the FREEMAIN instruction (at a unit of work) to free up resources and not suck up your entire box (& intestines) and crash so frequently. I learned in Oblivion to save & exit & restart every hour on the hour. Finally they utilize multiple processors!!! YEA!! When playing some games -- (would you believe) I STILL have to holster my weapon, turn off my light, look down at the floor -- then open the door (else crash). In F3 I have to ride up the escalator with my back to the reflection on the pond, then side-step else crash.
Ahhh progress!! ![]()

The best part is that Shepard already dismissed the idea of telling them, clearly pointing out the obvious absurdity of trying to explain visions or dreams to the Council. And Anderson just ignored it anyway XD
ME1 really needed a renegade interrupt.
Anderson: There's still one outstanding issue, Shepard's vision of the...OW...dammit Shepard, what are you doing?

At that point he's also convinced that Saren wants to destroy humanity for... whatever reason.

20 years ago we could tamper with audio recordings, and these council dudes and dudettes just take it for real after hearing it once. Ridiculous. Also, the Geth are made by Quarians, that alone should cast suspision.

Actually, this I can see as a rather reasonable assumption, considering that the geth are a very powerful enemy that nearly wiped out their own creators, and here they are, raiding one of their most important colony worlds with him as their supposed leader. In his position, I'd be very much inclined to assume the worst, especially given how new peaceful relations between the humans and turians are.
The silly part, to me, is that Saren didn't just take the beacon and run. He already had it, and the geth had the firepower to ensure that he kept it.
I wish indoctrinated Benezia was snarkier about this sort of thing.
Saren: And the beacon?
Benezia: You mean the one you didn't bother to take with you? Well, I guess someone used it or whatever. That was the plan, right?
Saren: GRAAUGH! [throws chair, swipes paper off desk, kicks Roomba] This human must be eliminated!

This would be true if Saren just attacked Eden Prime for the.. eh.. attack, but that wasn't the case. He was there for the Beacon. He had a goal that made it necessary to attack the colony, but attacking the colony wasn't the goal. The intended destruction of the colony afterwards was just to cover has traces.

Yeah, but this is Anderson, who's top remarks are "Maybe it is a weapon
!" and "I was born in London.
"
And Saren is of course Evil
because, well, I guess he is evil and Anderson doesn't like him.
Not to mention the necessary [drama]" He will destroy humanity" [/drama]; just like "The "collector will attack Earth!"

I'm a little bit younger than themikefest, but I'm amazed and how far the technology has come. My first console was the Atari 2600 and my first gaming computer a Commodore 64. Comparing the Mass Effect or DA games to the games I played on the Atari 2600 or Commodore 64, is like comparing modern jet aircraft to wood & canvas biplanes.

Anderson was indoctrinated at the beginning of ME3. Heck he may of been since the beginning of ME1. Its the only explanation for all the crazy things he says in the series. Either that, or he switch drug dealers giving him bad stuff. This is the only explanation for wanting to send Shepard up the middle where the resistance is the heaviest. Only Shepard can support the tanks.
But. Wait a minute. Hold on. If you "save" the guy on the Citadel, he is nice enough to give you an extra 200 war assets. Give the guy a pat on the back. Now he gets really upset when you let TIM kill him. He takes away 100 war assets. What a sore loser.
