The silly part, to me, is that Saren didn't just take the beacon and run. He already had it, and the geth had the firepower to ensure that he kept it.

I wish indoctrinated Benezia was snarkier about this sort of thing.

Saren: And the beacon?

Benezia: You mean the one you didn't bother to take with you? Well, I guess someone used it or whatever. That was the plan, right?

Saren: GRAAUGH! [throws chair, swipes paper off desk, kicks Roomba] This human must be eliminated!

I just figured the beacon was too damaged to move or something like that.

Because he was acting like an *ss when Anderson first met him. And eveyone knows that acting like an *ass equals wanting to destroy all of humanity.

"A low quality MP3 file you got from a quarian homless person! This evidence is irrefutable."

Better to have it break in your possession than risk someone else gleaning the info on it.

It wasn't in risk of being broken anyway. It had plenty of plot armour to protect it.

Ugh, wrist work out.

I'm sure he thought the 4 bombs would finish the job. He even put them all in the same place in case a couple of them failed!

He did try to blow the beacon up remember guys? Those bombs you were disarming while the geth were shooting at you.

Saren: Position the charges around the facility.

Geth unit: krrrkshhkrrkrrkkrughkrrr.

Saren: Just do as I say. Enough of your inane stuttering.

Geth unit: krrkshkrgh.

[meanwhile, within the .003 seconds time frame, programs converse within Geth unit]

Program 13: Stupid turian. This plan is totally going to fail hard. Whatever. Hail Nazara.

[programs all together]: HAIL NAZARA

Okay well it's about time I made an entry. Let's start with the first Mass Effect...

Wrex: ~Well there was that one time when the turians sterilized our race. That was fun.

Shepard: ~They kind of did the same thing to us! (referring to First Contact War where a few hundred colonists were killed)

[I don't know which is worse, that Shepard lives under a rock and doesn't understand the genophage, or he does and actually thinks it's in any way comparable to the FCW.]

Shepard: ~Asari can mate with their own species??

[I was actually not aware of this one at all, but apparently it exists].

Salarian Councilor: ~The Reapers are obviously just a myth.

Shepard: 50,000 YEARS AGO THE REAPERS WIPED OUT ALL LIFE IN THE GALAXY, AND IF THEY RETURN IT WILL HAPPEN AGAIN!

[What a great defense. Inform them of the ramifications of a threat they don't believe exists.

Furthermore, how is Shepard so certain about the Reapers' history? Before Virimire, he does not even realize that Saren's ship is a Reaper itself, but is so certain that the Reapers are an existential threat over a hunch?]

Liara: "Male" and "female" have no real meaning to us. We do have maternal instincts, though. So perhaps we would fit what you consider a female role."

[... so, like I said, you're a female. And you're wrong].

Yeah it really bugs me that there's no way around that 50,000 years ago line.

[turian orderlies walk in]

Shepard: I'm telling you, the reapers will wipe us out! We have to destroy our satellites, like the raloi!

Anderson: [to Ashley] The hell is a raloi?

[all shrug]

ME1 Shepard does have a lot of line that are frustrating to play through. I guess the writers were trying to emphasize the importance of things, but boy does it make Shepard come off as a tactless idiot.

Pretty much anything the space brat said. If I wrote his lines I would be embarrassed, that's all I have to say. If ME4 has something like him I will cry.

Another ME1 absurdity is Shepard telling the Virmire casualty-to-be that he'll come back for them. Talk about an empty promise. The VC even calls you on it because it's such a load of crap.

Udina is indoctrinated, but he lives on the Citadel?

Maybe he sneakes away behind C-SEC's back because he wants to cuddle Harbinger?  :P

involves sending young quarians out into the galaxy with limited resources so they have to spend time as a homeless person until they manage to aquire something that is of use to the migrant fleet?

Is he really indoctrinated though? He might just be working for Cerberus without being indoctrinated.

Also that isn't really absurd. Living on the citadel doesn't prevent you from being indoctrinated. He surely wasn't there his entire live.

One thing that is not a statement, but something ABSURD is why GETH VI has the identical piece of N7 armor strapped to it as Legion. Shouldn't GETH VI look like a regular Geth platform with copies of the 1187 runtimes that didn't go on the journey? After all the only purpose of the N7 armor was because "there was a hole" and Legion hadn't gone back to the Consensus yet, so the Consensus didn't know about the hole. Oh.... this is Patrick Weekes being cute and wanting us to be sympathetic and call GETH VI "Legion" so Tali can keep reminding our walking doofus "That is not Legion."

That always bugged me too. The VI shouldn't have looked anything like Legion. Other than being a salarian, Wiks didn't look like Mordin.

"When fire burns, is it at war? Or is it simply doing what it was created to?"

My GOD I don't even know where to begin in poking holes in this. Millions of years of evolution into becoming a self-aware sentient, thousands of years of social and cultural and technological evolution and society, all culminating in the thinking, rationalizing being that is myself, and all of that somehow doesn't even have the capacity to fathom the sheer idiocy behind the aforementioned line.

But... just... Jeez. Really? Comparing the massive armada of two kilometer long sentient techno-organic super dreadnought immortal AI to a basic chemical reaction is... I mean... Just... I don't even.

And if we ARE going to use that analogy, it STILL doesn't work because we didn't create the Reapers like we would a fire to keep us warm and help us live. A more apt description would be to say that someone else created the fire, then used it to set our house on fire, in which case the proper reaction would be to PUT IT OUT.

Jeeeesus. I can't even. I just can't even.

Jokingly: maybe the Catalyst's terrible metaphors are an example of how little Synthetics understand Organics?

Joking aside, it's not even talking about organics, it's talking about itself and its creations.

So... jokingly, maybe the Catalyst's terrible metaphors are an example of how little Synthetics understand Synthetics? :P

To be fair, most of these really dumb lines (asari reproduction, what is a VI?) are investigation options and easily avoidable. I think only the genophage thing is mandatory...

In ME2 Arrival:

Dr. Kenson:  The Reapers will arrive in two days, regardless of the Relay's status.  But at least it'll take them months or years at FTL speeds to reach nearby systems.

I thought wait, so those trips I take between systems in the galaxy map take MONTHS-YEARS?  Damn, there must not be much left of Earth after I go looking for artifacts.

He wasn't indoctrinated, just very stupid. But he'd have to be, being a politician in the MEverse. They're not allowed to be competent.

I was thinking of some of his interactions with the Council at the beginning of the game.
