I never understood this as a tactic.
"This isn't about strategy or tactics. This is about survival!"
"Your organic energy, the essence of who and what you are will be broken down and dispersed."
WTF does that even mean?
Oh Lakus,
I had to pick myself off the floor on that one. I totally LMAO. ![]()
BTY-expect the Geth on this forum to analyze & explain it.
Anything and everything that starbrat says. Actually, most of ME3's earth-centered plot. When the entire galaxy is on fire and all life is threatened, surely the fate of a single planet is all that we care about and fret over yup yup >_<
Shiala: "The Cipher is the very essence of being a Prothean. It cannot be described or explained."
Javik explained it pretty well.
"We are all connected. Every living being united in a single glorious existence."
And other pseudo-philosophical asari crap.
I really wish this exchange had been a little different for the renegade.
Aria: "Don't f*ck with Aria!"
Shepard (Real Stupid): "I have similar rules aboard my ship." or "I like it. Simple, easy to remember."
Shepard (True Renegade): "Not even after dinner?"
Then Shepard proves he's an idiot:
Shepard: "No. I'm going to end this war on my terms."
Catalyst: : "Then you will die knowing you have failed to save everything you have fought for."
Shepard: "I fight for freedom: mine and everyone's. I fight for the right to choose our own fate. And if I die, I'll die knowing I did everything I could to stop you. And I'll die free."
No, you won't. You'll be a slushie.
"We are the Shepard of their salvation. Prepare these _______ for ascension."
"You know me best, Liara"
Then Shepard proves he's an idiot:
Shepard: "No. I'm going to end this war on my terms."
Catalyst: : "Then you will die knowing you have failed to save everything you have fought for."
Shepard: "I fight for freedom: mine and everyone's. I fight for the right to choose our own fate. And if I die, I'll die knowing I did everything I could to stop you. And I'll die free."
Yeah, except for using the super weapon you told everyone to pour their resources into, LOL!
"I thought Asari needed other species to reproduce."
"Yeah, the Turians tried that with us, too."
"Why are you here?"
"I am the Catalyst."
"Is fire at war when it burns? Is it in conflict? Or is it simply doing what it was created to do?"
"Because I need you to believe."
"No. NO. I'm in control!"
For a second I thought this was all the same conversation. ![]()
In ME1, the Geth showed they were the bad guys.
In ME2, Legion brought some light that they were not all bad guys.
In ME3, we all saw the bigger picture where they were OPPRESSED by the Quarians and as any sentient being (organic or artificial) would believe. The "situation" as you pointed out. As noted in the game, the Quarians were deeply divided and some even died protecting the oppressed Geth. Note what a quick turn around the Geth did when no longer threatened. No more “guaranteed" rebellion.
One of the official definitions of life is “the will to survive” and you can define “survive any way you want. It seems to me the more ADVANCED a person-creature-thing is, the less it is threatened and less hostile. Inversely a cave man (with a club) will swing at you. So I do not believe
“the created will eventually rebel against their creator”
I will however believe
“the created will eventually rebel against an OPPRESSIVE creator”.
This might be a good discussion for ANOTHER thread so I’ll keep it short in order to retain the spirit, context, and momentum of the purpose of this thread (& not derail it).
Well people will eventually rebel against an oppressive regime, unless the regime is oppressive enough to prevent that and rewards people who do the oppressing sufficiently.
Other dumb lines: These two from Sparatus.
"Ah yes, 'reapers.' We've dismissed that claim."
"Of course (s)he did. Shepard would do anything to save a human colony."
Anderson: But Saren has allied himself with the geth. I don't know how. I don't know why. I only know it had something to do with that beacon.
(RE: Shepard saying "I had a vision....") Anderson: We need to report this to the Council, Shepard.
Anderson: He has the secrets of the beacon. He has an army of geth at his command. And he won't stop until he has wiped humanity from the face of the galaxy.
Okay, Anderson.... And you were born in London how many times? Perhaps there were other reasons why you were relieved of command?
Anderson has a tendency of repeating the obvious, like "twenty years ago" in Mass Effect 1.

He's something of a dunce.

THIS EVIDENCE IS IRREFUTABLE!
I remember reading comments from people who thought he was joking at first.
Just remembered both possible responses to Saren at the hearing were just flat-out appalling.
Top option: "Saren despises humanity. That's why he attacked Eden Prime."
[During the conversation with Anderson on the Normandy, the Shepard said "Saren didn't come to Eden Prime because he hates humans..", so why say this?]
Bottom option: "You can expect me to kill you the next time we meet."
[Probably the dumbest thing you could say in the middle of a hearing. Way to make humanity look bad. A fine example of one of the more idiotic renegade options at work.]
Anderson: "We thought you were dead. As soon as I heard different, I sent you that message."
Anderson: "It's up to you to stop the reapers, Shepard. All I can do is try to run interference."
"Humans are so special because of how genetically diverse they are".
I might have paraphrased.
"Asari, reliance upon alien species for reproduction shows genetic weakness"
Shepard sounded dense asking that question, come on Harbinger. His reasons for not using Turians and Salarians were kind of weak too.
He's something of a dunce.

Especially since they talk about the Reapers in that file. Somehow the Reaper part isn't irrefutable.
On that note:
ME1
Asari Councilor: "Thank you, Commander Shepard, for saving us and the galaxy from Saren and the Reapers"
ME2
Turian Councilor "Ah, yes 'Reapers'..."
Ellen Ripley "Did IQs just drop sharply while I was away?"
