Dr. Chakwas' reasoning and dialogue for joining Cerberus is pretty awful.

"I wanted to sit around on a star ship instead of doing actual doctor stuff so I joined a declared terrorist organization."

You could say the same about the clown. He cried for 2 years not being able to fly, so when Cerberus made an offer, he didn't hesitate to join them

They all had terrible excuses for joining Cerberus.

Joker was a jerk throughout, honestly. In ME2 he joins Cerberus despite the fact that, for all he knew after ME1, they were a terrorist organization that Shepard was trying to take down. In ME3, he insults the krogan the whole time, despite the fact that Wrex is Shepard's good friend.

Hell, Ken and Gabby joined Cerberus for no real reason, even admitting that they knew nothing about the organization beforehand.

Gardner says "Cerberus gets the job done". Yeah, okay. If you consider treason "getting the job done", then sure.

I'd say Chakwas had the most logical reason for joining the SR2: She was told beforehand that she would be working with Shepard.

Agreed. I was gonna say that his only excuse is that he's a junkie for flying the best ship in the galaxy, except he joined before he found out about the Normandy SR-2. IIRC, when he and shep do the big SR-2 reveal for the player, Joker says something like, "I just found out about it last night."

That is true too. Which reminds me so much of the frustrations surrounding the ME2 introduction.

And if he's evacuated the Normandy SR-1 when he was ordered instead of sitting there like an idiot, Shepard might have been alive and as a Spectre been able to pull some strings to keep Joker flying something.

Tali was responsible for Shepard's rise. - Think, Tali. Shepard might return the favor, side with the Geth and kill your people at some point in the future.

Joker was responsible for Shepard's death, whines about not being able to fly ... to Shepard.... doesn't apologize... and Shepard was glad to see the son of a b**** who got her killed.

When Ash/Kaidan/Liara says that Joker is still in the cockpit, I wanted to say, "Joker who? Get to the escape pod!"

I like to think of the alternate timeline.

[Shepard enters the escape pod after Liara]

Shepard: Oh Darwin, please watch over Jeff Moreau. May he hobble into your loving arms.

[pod ejects]

Too bad Shepard couldn't ask them why the **** they didn't make any effort to get him to an escape pod instead of running to Shepard?

You have to understand that the entire series is a power trip for the player where the Player Character has the power of life and death for everyone and no one else can do anything stupid or intelligent without permission from the player charcacter, even this simple thing like dragging Joker's sorry ass out of the cockpit and into the escape pod. It has to be the player character for reasons. It's a power trip up until the last 5 minutes when you are powerless and have to make a choice.

The whole time in Priority: Earth when they mention tanks, I'm always wondering 'what tanks?'. I've never seen tanks in the Priority: Earth, only IFVs, APCs and those mobile missile launchers. Also, how on Earth did the whole strike force and the British Army get wiped out until all that's left to assault the beam is what amounts to 6-8 mechanized infantry companies and a few commando teams, which is barely a battalion?

The fact that "APC" is never in Mass Effect's terminology is a fairly good clue. Basically anything with wheels was essentially a "tank".

Catalyst: “the Reapers do NOT want war with organics”.

Really?  As supremely intelligent as the Catalyst & Reapers are, they don’t understand the word “WAR”?

Catalysts: “the created will always rebel against their creators

Yep!  My last car rebelled against me in 2012 so I bought a new one.   If this statement is true, the Catalyst & Reapers are at war.

Sovereign:  “we are your salvation through destruction

Oxymoron.  Let’s see now – I need someone who is more wonderful & wise to spin that around and make sense of it.  How about “I want MY salvation thru YOUR destruction”?

Salerian Council member “The Reapers really don’t exist, it is all made up by Saren”.

Never mind that Shep has nose-to-nose encounters with them.  Sawdust for brains.   If I'm not mistaken the Turian bozo (ME2) said "Ahhh, yes -- reapers..". (thanks Dreamgazer)  He ate humble pie in ME3.

Asari Council member “In the defeat of Sovereign, Shepherd put human interests before the council”.

Right!  That’s why you’re still alive.  How can she be so dumb and still breathe?

EDIT:  I stand corrected:  For the ending options:

·         Save the Council

·         Let the Council die

·         Concentrate on Sovereign

I explicitly avoided Let the Council die” and chose “Concentrate on Sovereign” which I discovered later is an implicit Let the Council die”.  As such, I erroneously assumed the Council was still alive.   With a 2nd Council formed, I presumed the Asari Council member was speaking anti-human again.

The Illusive Man (TIM):  “I’m looking out for humanity’s best interest”.

Right!  Starting & ending with ultra-ego TIM.  Perhaps with TIM dethroned, Cerberus will regain its real purpose.   Since "a splinter group tried to control the reapers in the last cycle" there's more to this than just TIM.   Sorry to upset you TIM lovers out there...

There’s a TON more so help me out…

Good work composing all this.  I get the picture that politicians are slow to grasp change, however much of the council "noise" was absurd - with all that technology they have no recorders???

We can barely go anywhere w/o being recorded today.

How about "Sovereign was a Geth creation"- since when do geth have indoctrination?

Even if Shep was an inept Specter, Liara and Tali would have recorded the Virmire and Ilos missions.  So, Anderson saying "only you and your crew were the only ones..." that saw/heard things"  or the "no proof" comments are beyond far fetched.  A workaround might have been back room discussions like the Turian councilor in ME3.

Ken and Gabby's excuse for joining Cerberus was pathetic, and their flip flopping on how they viewed the alliance between ME2 and ME3 was comical.

ME2:"We have lost respect for the alliance and decided to join Cerberus"

ME3:"It feels good to be in an alliance uniform again"

To be fair to Liara, what happened on Thessia just happened. People say dumb things sometimes when they're upset. Javik just has no time for it, heh.

the dumbest/stupiest thing she said was "the next time we go to war, maybe the Alliance can can spring for some air support". What an idiot. Is there going to a next time we go to war? And because of her stupid people not revealing the artfiact earlier, air support wasn't going to help. Where's the renegade interrupt when you need one?

Uh...people respond to similar events in different ways. Liara is upset about the other world's getting hit as well, it just really hits home for her when she sees her home getting hit. That is a very natural and realistic reaction (and much more believable than the wooden response of some other characters).
