That's pretty much how Return of the Jedi ended.

DE is only a minor part of ME2 which can easily be thrown away. ME2 in itself can easily be thrown away
Plus, the only time DE is even mentioned is in a few voluntary missions. You could play through ME2 and not hear a single word about DE.

LOL.
Is it so bad to want an ending that rewards the player with options? Or at least give something to the crowd who'd like to see Shepard live? Citadel DLC makes sense as an ending/post ending DLC (Destroy only, as an example).
I know TIM's brain had turned to Indoctrinated mush by this point in the story but I've never seen how the Cerberus troops are improved. Actual husks aren't really improved in any way. They certainly aren't smarter because Shepard manages to trick them into sending the tram over... and then they decided to keep sending trams over. And in combat most of their strength seems to be a technological advantage.
Well, w'ere supposed to look at Paul Grayson as an example, except under control. Granted, the troops we find are shown to be as competant as stormtroopers (Jacob's Gellix mission). The best one can sum up, they don't really experience pain and have enhanced strength and an iron mandate to save humanity by following TIM and Cerberus' top tier officers.
NOT ABSURD ENDING:
- CONTROL or DESTROY Shep lives.
I think Bioware got it right in killing Control Shep.
Destroy already gets saddled with EDI & the Geth dying, so having Shepard survive Control and/or Synthesis would just weigh things too heavily against Destroy. Part of the problem with the endings as it is is that the lead writers played favorites and didn't present the three ending choices equally. They attempt to guide the player away from Destroy and into choosing Synthesis.
Catalyst: "The created will always rebel against their creators, but we found a way to stop that from happening"
Me: I do too. In fact I just did not too long ago. Geth rebelled against their creators, but I found a way to stop that from happening, that didn't involve unnecessary slaughter and mass genocide. But okay. Go on.
Catalyst: "Without us to stop it Synthetics would destroy all organics"
Me: Except, I made the geth peaceful, and EDI and Joker seems to be getting along perfectly. Where's my dialogue option to tell The Catalyst this, by the way?
Catalyst: "Soon, your children will create synthetics, and then the chaos will come back."
Me: GAH! For the love of god, you're a broken record at this point, and WHERE IS MY DIALOGUE OPTION!?!?!? Everything involving advanced AI and their relationships with organics seems to be better than ever at this point.
Bioware, did you purposefully ignore this when you wrote the Extended Cut, because I remember screaming and yelling for you to address this issue... in fact, I think everyone did.

Bioware ignored a lot of people while writing the Extended Cut. Including stuff from their own games.
No its not. Especially when that idiot tells Shepard to support the tanks. The tanks are for suppotring the ground troops. All the clown had to say is that he send Shepard where the resistance is the heaviest, but will have support from the tanks to make it easier.
As far as boosting morale, the troops already say him/her on the turret at the fob firing at the uglies.
I just want to point out that irl, ground troops do protect armour. This is because:
a) The view from a closed hatch tank is pretty restrictive, thus outflanking is relatively simple. Obviously in a firefight, these hatches will be closed.
All it needs is one crazy mofo to run up to the tank and drop a grenade down it's hatch to take it out, or failing that, bust its tracks or even barrel.
c) Tanks are usually tasked with anti-armour and garrison busting, and not raking infantry positions with machine gun fire or tank shocks (although obviously such things happen, but lets face it, target priorities exist)
I'll give the caveat that it's usually mechanized infantry that protects armour such as tanks, but mechanized infantry really just means: "to keep up with tanks" for combined arms duties... which means supporting tank offenses.
So, it's actually not daft at all for the order. What *is* daft is sending Shephard and his team alone.
And she just happens to be flying Cerberus colors. Fancy that.
And regarding Derpett contacting Cerberus PR and believing them about not attacking innocent civilians.... What about the events of 2070 when they were blowing up ships over colonies to spread refined eezo to see if it would create human biotics in the fetuses of pregnant mothers? Oh yeah, sure, we'll believe them.
To quote private Bethany Westmoreland... or was it private Sarah Campbell? ... uhh, anyway, to quote: Black Ops always go bad. If you have to deny the action, it was a crappy action.

But that doesn't deny that said action may needed to happen. The whole point of black ops is for ethically challenged ops.
Besides, ethics aside, humanity would have a massive gap in their capability if they didn't have biotic soldiers available.
"The enemy is at half-strength."
Biggest.
Lie.
Ever.

It is hard to see everything with hatches closed especially during night exercises.
The other thing is it would take at least 2 shots to stop a tank from behind. Just hit it in the backside just as easily as it would to break the track, damage the main gun or if really lucky, separate the turret from the hull if the explosive is powerful enough and in the right place
Just about everything said by these two NPCs is terribly stupid. To quote private Bethany Westmoreland... or was it private Sarah Campbell? ... uhh, anyway, to quote: Black Ops always go bad. If you have to deny the action, it was a crappy action.

Sometimes, no doubt. But I liked them. I wish we could've had actual conversations with them, or had some of the squad interacting with them between missions.
'' I'll sleep when I'm dead ''
Any and all anti-pureblood asari statements annoyed the hell out of me in ME2. What the hell is up with that crap? Hating people because both their parents are from your species? Wat.
Ardat Yakshi is not an excuse, they only make up 1% of the population, with most cases not being anywhere near as severe as Samara's daughters. The whole thing is grade A bullshit. How the hell did the Asari manage to go 50000 years mating with each other, (which without other aliens around, they would have done), when there's all this stigma about entering a relationship with another Asari? When did it suddenly change? It's makes no sense.

They could have been hugging trees? (Or whatever fauna there is on Thessia)
I just leave this here:
I am sure it's been mentioned like so many others but here is one:
Jacob: "If these are our final days, I want to spend them protecting these people. Building a life, you know."
... What?!?
In fairness to Jacob -- hard to believe, I know -- but if our cycle lost theI am sure it's been mentioned like so many others but here is one:

*Shepard unites the entire galaxy*
Major Coats: And you're here. It'll do the troops good to know you're fighting at their side.
Shepard: I'm just a solider like them.
*facepalm*
No,Shepard, you are not just a solider.

The more of a legend you are, the more loneliness you may have. I don't blame Shepard for not wanting it.
