They beter have some Spice and Wolf references when it comes to economics!

If The Witcher 3 has a wolf with a female human's voice who calls herself wise and claims she will leave you and head towards the nearest wheat field, I AM SO DONE

Well, apperantly the review I watched said he ran into a bug which changed a male character into a female model, but still with the same voice. So maybe that happens if we're lucky with a wolf too!

Well, everything I was reading sounded great, but then suddenly...

IGN:

"This new open-world map obviously has ramifications for the structure of the story, and though there are flashes of greatness, the main story is ultimately the least fulfilling part of The Witcher 3. You might call it another case of The Elder Scrolls Syndrome. Our tale begins as a multi-continent search for Geralt’s long-lost lover Yennifer, and Ciri, his surrogate daughter. My single biggest issue though, is that it never becomes much more: the overly long main story is essentially just Geralt running errands for people in exchange for information on Ciri’s whereabouts. It effectively maintains focus and momentum, but it feels more like a wild goose chase than an intriguing mystery to unravel, like the one we got in Assassins of Kings."

The opinions regarding the main story are interesting.

So far only IGN seems to dislike the main story, but every other review I've read so far has praised it.

My favorite review gave it an 8.8.

A very reasonable number considering the things they pointed out that were bad.

But all in all a very enjoyable game they could recommend.

From what you shared with me that review so far seem to contain the least hyperbole and that's very appreciated

The video I posted in the thread is the one. You could try and see if you can make something out of it :)

I wouldn't give to much credit to one review, which didn't like the main story. I have read several german reviews and they all praise it as very emotional and full of "wtf moments" and unexpected outcomes. Considering Witcher 1+2  had fantastic main stories I think it will be great. But I guess 6-x more days to find out.

For those that care about reviews:

Gamespot - 10/10

The Witcher 3 is always in a crescendo, crafting battle scenarios that constantly one-up the last, until you reach the explosive finale and recover in the glow of the game's quiet denouement. But while the grand clashes are captivating, it is the moments between conflicts, when you drink with the local clans and bask in a trobairitz's song, that are truly inspiring

Gameinformer - 9.75/10

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt encompasses what I hope is the future of RPGs. It stands out for its wonderful writing, variety of quests and things to do in the world, and how your choices have impact in interesting ways. Usually something is sacrificed when creating a world this ambitious, but everything felt right on cue. I still think about some of my choices and how intriguing they turned out – for better or worse.

IGN reviewed it, but couldn't care about them, so go look for it yourself lol.

Spoiler tagged to tidy up post.

Oh damn is it my job to add new reviews now :(

I'm getting pumped for the next Assasin's Creed reveal and playing Destiny, too lazy to do it myself

Will do it in a little while

Added to the list!

It never was about there not being fetch quests (some people took that statement way to far) but about the game having good fetch quests.

Which if reviewers are to be believed, the game has managed to accomplish.

Fetch quests are always welcome in every game. It gives me something to do while on my way to the main quest location, heck, it helps make getting to the main quest itself that much more rewarding.

It is good to hear some differing POVs for the game. All this praise--while naturally is nice to hear--does make it come across as some sort of flawless masterpiece (comments like "best game ever" only raises an eyebrow for me).

Personally I'm taking the reviews with a grain of salt, like I always have, and will let my impressions be the one to ultimately decided whether it manages to reach the heights that so many states it reaches.

Depends on the quest design.

I'm still wary of TW3 possibly turning out to be filled to he gills with shallow fetch quests my completionist impulses will be pushing me to finish.

I'll take every fetch quest over the one in Swtor involving Manka cat teeth lol.

Sure you only needed 6, but when you have to kill 20+ to even get those 6...thats normally my limit lol

So instead of adding anything to the discussion, you throw in the word hypocrite.

You make it sound like Fetch quests are Mandatory.

I did every quest I could in Inquisition, collected all the shards. I think I still have to collect all the mosaic pieces and bottles of alcohol, but that'll be in due time.

It's probably helped that I've had my fair share of MMO experience, so fetch quests are nothing. Of course they become irrelevant when I've reached the max level, in which case is when they start popping up in the form of Daily Areas, which I'll only ever do if I'm in need of currency at that point.

I apologize that I am not following the majority's view of fetch quests and acting like a child when it comes to the announcement of fetch quests and the quality of them. After all, I am my own person, I have my opinion of them, and for all I care, they are welcome.

What i have to add until i play the game?

I've read some review everyone confirm the presence of fetch quest but instead of the usual hysteric reaction that plagued inquisition forums all i see are rainbows and unicorns...just as i was expecting because?

Because it's witcher 3.

If that bothers anyone, then please speak up. The Assassin's Creed reveal has just ended, and I'm in need of more entertainment, and browsing forums and watching people type out their complaints has always been one of my joys.

Good but i haven't nothing personal against you but more about the general mood that run around the line :

"OH GOD INQUISITION HAS A LOT OF FETCH QUEST KILL IT WITH FIRE!!1!!"

"Yeah so witcher 3"

"Ah...than for witcher 3 it's cool"

"Wait why?"

"BECAUSE IT'S WITCHER 3"

More like because they knew fetch quests were gonna be in it.

Only those that lived in a fantasty world are annoyed by the mention of fetch quests.

The difference is in how you present those fetch quest.

The Side-Quests in The Witcher3 seems to have a lot of Story telling in it, and also a bunch of decisions, which alter the outcome of the Quest.

Instead of:

No-Name NPC1: "Get me 20 Flowers!"

*Player gets 20 Flowers*

No-NameNPC1: "kkthxbye"

From the german GameStar:

"It's a new Milestone for the art of interactive Storytelling.

Finally, there are no qualitative differences between the main story and the sidequests."
