They spun their way out of the expansion pass (didn't they?). I wouldn't be surprised if they work their way out of this one too.

Honestly, I really like the TW series. I think their games are great. But I find CDPR's rhetoric so very grating. From their potshots at other developers to their self-congratulatory praise - it's all too much for me.

Aye, it does become annoying pretty fast. I let it slide because they make good games, but otherwise I'm pretty sure I'd find them as unsufferable as Kojima or something.

Why? CDPR is all about the lip-service to the PC gamers while making substantial changes to make the game compatible with consoles. The RED engine shift was all about making a game engine that could be translatable to consoles.

The reason they can spout 'rhetoric' as you put it, is with GoG they almost always walk the talk. And I still support them doing pre-orders for an expansion. But this platform parity crap might hurt their reviews once PC and Xbone reviewers get their hands on it...in a week or so. Seriously, giving early copies to just one platform after preaching parity all this time, WTF?

I kind of believe, they they didn't give PC copies, because they didn't want torrents of the game in the internet BEFORE the game came out.

There's always this one guy who would leak it just for the sake of it.

Why they didn't send XOne copies, I do not know however.

Well, GOG isn't CDPR and CDPR isn't GOG. Yes, they're owned by the same company but CDPR is a game developer whereas GOG is a digital distribution service. There's different goals for both areas and different ways to achieve them.

To add to that, the PC-first rhetoric of CDPR was mostly found out to be a falsity after Witcher 2. Great game, but with a console-first control scheme, and a console-first UI, it's hard to imagine they really thought of PC as their lead platform.

I don't have a GTX 980 or a Titan X, so I wouldn't have been able to take advantage of pre-downgrade graphics anyway but the worry lies not so much in the downgrade itself, as much as the fact that they had a downgrade in the first place. We've seen Ubisoft take that route with Watch Dogs and we know how it turned out. Consumer confidence in the AAA market is very low at the moment so it makes me think, if CDPR had to scale back on the game's graphics, what else did they have to scale back on?

I've heard some pretty damaging rumours about the game's development, mostly about how rushed it is. Normally you can just brush that aside, but now that the downgrade isn't just a rumour but a reality, it makes you wonder.

I'm not going to hold it against them personally because sometimes that's just the realities of game development. But when you take into account CDPR's PR, you can see how it will cause trouble. A downgrade can easily be spun into deception and for the pro-gamer, pro-consumer posturing of CDPR, that can cause a lot of heartache.

As for the game itself, I'm going to wait until it releases. I play on PC and I'm not going to buy it blind. I may not even pick up the game at all. Which would be a shame, because it was one of my most anticipated games for 2015.

Looks like it's Watch Dogs all over again.

To be fair, this game still looks amazing - "downgrade" and all.

What bothers me the most is their stance on the issue: wait and see.
Unless they secretly have PC specific build, there is nothing to be seen if all assets are shared between platforms. Few color corrections here and there, but them missing polygons aren't recreating themselves.
To be clear, game still looks beautiful, bit I'm getting tired of PC games being treated like a fckng byproduct of console experiments: "Hey gais, if we change this line, it will be able to run on PC too *collective nerdgasm*"

The service they provide with GOG has nothing to do with how hardcore they jockride PC games without delivering on PC gaming, or the extent to which they lambaste their competitors for DLC practices or graphics downgrades while engaging in them themselves.

GOG allows them to deliver on two things: their (generally) DRM-free product, and currency-related issues when it comes to VG pricing. Neither of these have much connection with their public derision of competitor's IPs, their about-face on paid DLC (regardless of what gloss they slap on it), and (since TW2) their general retreat from PC-centric features while, at the same time, beating their drums about how PC-centric they are.

Like I said: I like their product, and I don't care that they're arrogant hypocrites because their product is good. They're getting my money until they make a bad game. But there's a big gulf between that and actually respecting them. And that's because I don't like hypocrisy.

Any game that isn't a PC exclusive is going to be crafted with consoles in mind first. It has been that way for years and it is never going to change. It's just the reality of the market, where sales for consoles far exceed sales for the PC.

Intel i7-5960X, 16GB DDR4 RAM, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Game Ready GeForce GTX Driver

For the complete lowdown on The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt you’ll have to stay tuned to GeForce.com for our Graphics, Performance & Tweaking Guide. In the meantime, let us know in the comments which NVIDIA technologies you’ll be utilizing to enhance your The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt PC experience.

Couple things worth noting in my case

- Not the official final build of the Game.

- Game ready driver should be out by Monday I think

- 980 is only 10% faster then a 780 Ti. When I factor in its a Superclocked model, I think I'll be very happy with mix results of High/Ultra.

I believe during the Nvidia settings, they probably turned all the crazy settings on as well, which I probably won't do. I'd go out and get a 980, but as someone has suggested, I'll wait until my next card offers at least a 50% increase.

The funny thing is that Witcher 2 is still easily in the top echelon for graphics in it's category (Action RPGs). Not my pics but beautiful stuff:

I'll probably go for 900p, turn shadows to low and turn off anti-aliasing and then crank the rest to ultra.

Worked for me with DA:I on my GTX 680

That means: GTX 760, 1600x900 ultra settings!

Because there is too much pixel difference between 1080p and 900p, but it doesn't show at all.

Also because they said my 2009 GPU can't load crap from DA:I, but I could use medium-high settings with average 25fps which was very good.

Sorry, but nope. Your CPU, GPU and RAM are all below the minimum unfortunately.

Darn I was thinking maybe someone tried it with something below the minimum and see if it still worked ok, I played Witcher 2 for a bit that way..

hm, looks like the place to ask. I'm looking to run Witcher 3 on my laptop, but I know mine won't be able to handle it. Can anyone recommend me a few in cause I just want to buy a new one? Thank you for your responses.

Don't, build one instead. If you can't build one yourself, look around, there are dozens of sites which will build one for you to your specifications, and it'll still be cheaper than the comparative crap you pick up pre built at a computer store in the street.

Good news for those of you still rocking the older Cpu's that just won't die lol.

My 4770k should be good to go at 4.2ghz!

Also my Artbook dispatched today, estimated for tomorrow :D So I might flick through that, mainly to look at concept art pieces for Ciri and Triss. And Connifer of course, can't forget good old Connifer of Vengerberg.

I'm looking forward to this game as the reviews are highlighting the interesting side quests particularly and the success of balancing the open world.

I do hope the release won't trigger petulant finger pointing at DAI because they are different franchises and I thought DAI was terrific,

having enjoyed 4 play throughs and a ton of multiplayer.

That's not say that any game that raises the bar is not welcome because it lifts design expectations for all.

I call BS on his downgrade talk. I know many gamers have been dicks to CDPR about it, hounding them to no end, but CDPR's ridiculous parity talk has made matters worse, and as I see it the game really does not look as good as the early promo vids. If there's a chance it won't look that good because you're eventually, I don't know,  going multiplat...then DON'T f*cking show speculative materials. That's what they did for TW2 and there was no issue, because the game just got progressively prettier. Basically it's bullshots, and CDPR shouldn't take part in it. The latest ultra IGN gameplay on youtube made me cry it looked so average.

The fact they've closed every discussion on the official forums and have openly banned people talking about it says it all about their stance.

When a company openly lies, and they've lied a LOT, then it deserves to be treated badly by it's community.

To me it just seems as if the mods are sick of all the whining.

Hundreds of pages picking over the quality of the grass is just insane to me.

LOL What are you talking about? They just banned some people spamming all threads with moans about downgrade (they had given warnings before that). Yes, they closed some topics but majority of posts from those topics have been relocated (not deleted).
