The Witcher series has the best armor design I've ever seen in an RPG.

Even those effects might look good in those early trailers, they may look bad if viewed from the other angle, or distance etc. And thats why they removed them. There is no point making game for 0.1% gamers that can run it.
I would totally understand if they would have made it 32bit game so most people could run it. Not everyone has 64bit windows.
Arkham Knight, Division. Yeah, this 'target render' reveal crap stepped up with next gen, and it has to stop. Has anyone else notice that? The BS factor in PR went through the roof with next gen. No author sells a book on, "well, i was was going for Hemingway, but you just might get Stephanie Meyers."
Nope. Actually today the trailers and promotion pics looks way closer than before.
Never seen might&magic (8?) promotion pics? Yeah, fully rendered pics so it would look really beautiful, but actually game looks really outdated and pixelated ****.

I don't like their actual historical armour, but what Geralt wears tends to be cool.

So, for those who've read the novels, how many are there and how many of those have been translated to English?
1. The Last Wish - set of short stories, translated to English
2. Sword of Destiny - set of short stories, but events are important bridge between further books and The Last Wish. Not yet officially translated, but it's about to be this year. There are fan translations at the moment
3. Blood of Elves - this and next 4 books form one story - translated officially
4. Times of Contempt - translated
5. Baptism of Fire - translated
6. The Tower of the Swallow - official translation will hit the shelves 2016, fan translations are availible
7. The Lady of the Lake - official translation will appear in 2017, fan translations availible as well
8. Season of Storms - this one was released in Poland in 2013 - I don't know if there are translations of this. It's a bit strange, because it's actually a prequel to events in The Last Wish (to some of those events at least).

LOL What are you talking about? They just banned some people spamming all threads with moans about downgrade (they had given warnings before that). Yes, they closed some topics but majority of posts from those topics have been relocated (not deleted).
Censorship is censorship, and that's exactly the kind of behavior CDPR is engaging in.

So in your view when a developer lies about the game they've made that's perfectly fine eh?

Ah, the Black Blood Poison...Witcher 1 nostalgia...
Maybe seen it proccing like once. Iirc blood drinkers only bite to finish you off on low HP, I hope it will be more useful this time. ![]()
Also, I'm going to have a field day reading all the "OMG mysogyny!" comments, the trailer produced incredible amounts of salty tears already. I shall have a magnificent feast in the coming weeks.

The funny thing is that Witcher 2 is still easily in the top echelon for graphics in it's category (Action RPGs). Not my pics but beautiful stuff:
Lets be serious, there aren't that many graphically impressive rpgs in general.

Careful, strawmen are fire hazards.
I should have specified.
By them lying I mean them openly denying there's been a downgrade for months and now a few days ago a visual artist coming and saying: People shouldn't compare the trailers to the game because the trailers were fake.
Said trailers being called either gameplay trailers or in-game and the developers even saying the finished product would look considerably better, which it does not.

No, vampire bite was not a finisher. I've been bitten with enough HP that the attack didn't kill me. It was just annoying because you can't do anything during that time.

What recent months taught me is that CD Projekt HQ doesn't give a damn about Reds' principles, PC origins or gamer pride and thus nothing they say shall be trusted. While my faith in the development team delivering great games remains unshaken, all titles with CD Projekt logo on them will from now on receive the same treatment as EA/Ubisoft titles from me and I honestly don't think they deserve any better. And how tW3 looks now in terms of graphics has indeed nothing to do with it, a petty reason that one would be.
On the other hand, the fact that I'm no longer excited about technical side of the game prevented me from buying a new rig at this inconvenient time which I would definitely regret down the line. Now I'm fine with playing on sub-minimum specs.
The service they provide with GOG has nothing to do with how hardcore they jockride PC games without delivering on PC gaming, or the extent to which they lambaste their competitors for DLC practices or graphics downgrades while engaging in them themselves.
GOG allows them to deliver on two things: their (generally) DRM-free product, and currency-related issues when it comes to VG pricing. Neither of these have much connection with their public derision of competitor's IPs, their about-face on paid DLC (regardless of what gloss they slap on it), and (since TW2) their general retreat from PC-centric features while, at the same time, beating their drums about how PC-centric they are.
Like I said: I like their product, and I don't care that they're arrogant hypocrites because their product is good. They're getting my money until they make a bad game. But there's a big gulf between that and actually respecting them. And that's because I don't like hypocrisy.
I wonder how required GOG registration for physical copies to be able to download patches and DLC is DRM-free approach. Another kidney shot. And shot in the foot for CDP.
But that's it for negativity, we should get back to more pleasant topics.

I actually think a lot of rpg's have some of the best art design in the business, but no very few are ever technically proficient. The Witcher 2 was one of the few I remember ever pushing systems when it came out.

In my opinion this line of thinking is the same illogical garbage that takes any early vertical slice and allows folk to make up their own fantasy of the game.
There are ample gameplay videos of the game in recent months to determine one's purchasing decision.
By all means those with nothing better to do can compare screenshots they have of shrubbery and whining endlessly about it
(the CDPR forum's whineathon today is hate on CDPR for not releasing the game early because some in Arabia are playing it.)
Looks like a good game, what's the issue here?

It's not just vertical slice we're talking about here in some trailers, that CDPR still maintained were actual gameplay trailers and that there was no downgrade from those trailers, but rather that the game looks worse then the build they had at E3 2014, of which IGN showed 35 mins footage from.
My problem is that instead of admiting they had to tone down the graphics they've engaged in a massive amount of bullshit, denying it exists, insulting people who brought it up on forums, banning people etc.

This will be the last depressing post and we can get back to talking about the good bits.
They weren't kidding when they said all platforms will be the same. I can't think of a mulitplat game in the last 5 years that gimped PC this bad. I mean, even console-centric games like GTA and Asscreed offer a substantial visual difference between the platforms.
Alright, someone talk about how cute Ciri is or something so we can put this sh*t behind us, lol. Story! It's about the story!

There's still the difference between texture resolutions, but it's only noticeable up close.
Also why in the **** does this game require a 980 to run at MAX when it looks like this on PC?! Nvidia says PhysX looks better on PC but still seriously?

Well, on a happier note...
I couldn't give two shits about what the game looks like. It's not why I picked The Witcher all those years ago. However...
You bet your ass people on CDPR forums will be more cautious of any Cyberpunk 2077 footage [when we finally get to see some]. Hopefully, now that they're familiar with the PS4 and Xbox One architecture it will allow them to fully realize their vision of the game.
