I was never convinced that the final game would look like the VGX/Sword of Destiny trailers, even when they first came out. From the lack of HUD, the overly "cinematic" and dynamic third person cameras, crazy amounts of lighting/shadows, just the sheer level of detail in each scene, etc., it resembled pre-rendered cgi more than anything. I'm not even sure if they have a working build at that point at E3 2013 (though I do remember a closed-door event for some journalists which was kept on the hush hush).

What I am really bummed on is that the 35 minute "Gameplay" video is now a pipe-dream. It was a whole half hour long and it came out in August 2014. It may not reach the Sword of Destiny graphics level, but damn did it look glorious(DAT Novigrad). THAT was the product that I was expecting on my laps in March 2015

Watch the video half way down, cant be that far off 35 min vid .http://www.pcgamesha...k-Test-1158845/

He looks like he aged 20 years since TW2. I suppose essentially being the last strong ruler in the north while at war with Nilfgaard does that to a person...

I think its also quite impactive how much more aged he looks, simply because we've been around a Witcher and plenty of Sorceresses as well, who ages dramatically more slowly.

Huh, I always assumed that bite mark was from Adda. In The Last Wish, I believe the first short story involves Geralt when he first encounters and cures her of the curse, at somepoint I believe she bites him, and he her. But it looks like I could be mistaken!

Good news for those of you still rocking the older Cpu's that just won't die lol.

My 4770k should be good to go at 4.2ghz!

Also my Artbook dispatched today, estimated for tomorrow :D So I might flick through that, mainly to look at concept art pieces for Ciri and Triss. And Connifer of course, can't forget good old Connifer of Vengerberg.

I find it funny that a 5.0GHz CPU is still unreachable. After 10 years they only could make CPUs speed 50% better (from 3.0 GHz to 4.5GHz).

From 1995 to 2005 it was from 60MHz(?) to 3000MHz which makes the advancement 5000%.

I don't know about the shoulder mark, but I do know that the big scar on his face is indeed from Adda.

He gets it during the CGI trailer for The Witcher.

AMD have a 5 GHz CPU, actually. The FX 9590 gets to 5 GHz out of the box. However, it's a total waste of money. If you want AMD for a budget gaming/video encoding rig, you shouldn't spend for more than an FX 8320.

Anyways, the main issue at play is heat and power. There is nothing stopping AMD or Intel releasing a 7 or 8 GHz CPU, except for the fact you'd need Liquid Nitrogen to cool it and a massive PSU to power it. This is primarily because of transistor count. As transistor count in CPUs increase in accordance with Moore's law, the heat the CPU produces rises just as much if they are operating higher than certain speeds. We only need look at how badly CPU heat and power consumption scales when overclocking, especially on the AMD side. 10-20% increase in clock speed, a 50-100% increase in power consumption.

Besides, because of the higher transistor counts, the need to increase clock speed is greatly reduced because CPUs are capable of powering through more workloads in the same amount of time.

Linked to the previous, another way to increase performance without increasing clock speed is parallel processing through multithreaded software. Parallel processing is a way to reduce the amount of total time used to compute tasks since it's spread out over different cores. GPUs are actually a fantastic example of this in action. A GPU has much more horsepower than a CPU since it utilises thousands of small processing units at once. This is why people mine Crypto Currency like Bitcoin with GPUs instead of CPUs. Actually, most serious miners use ASIC cards now but still.

Think of it like a road and your goal is to get as many cars through as possible in your average day. Clock speed represents a speed limit. While increasing the speed limit might be nice if you want to increase productivity and traffic flow, it won't be very effective because it's all running in one lane. Introducing multiple lanes (parallel processing) and smaller cars (transistor count) to handle the traffic produces better results without needing to raise the speed limit.

Basic explanation, I'm sure someone with actual knowledge on the subject could explain better than I could.

But the point I'm making is that I wouldn't use pure clock speed as an indicator of performance. Something running at 4 GHz might be slower than another type of CPU running at 2.5 GHz. Plenty of factors at play.

Anyways, how about that downgrade? heh heh heh

is 550w power enough for 300w gpu? What would happen if its not enough, could something get damaged?

I currently have hd 6950, what is 200w, so if i would buy r9 390, next month what is supposed to use slighly less than 300w.

Today i preordered this and already preloaded, now just waiting to play. :)

I hope G2A send out keys by Monday. If I don't get it by 6pm Monday, I'll purchase and pre-load on Steam, so I can play at Midnight.

If that ends up being the case, I'll paste the G2A key here, replace one repeating letter with a question mark, and let you lot scramble over it :P

What's your CPU? Do you overclock? What brand/model is your PSU? That said, it's very unlikely that you'll run into issues if your PSU is of decent quality. 550w is more than enough for non-OC single card configurations.

Having read only a few books: she is.  She's prideful, bitter, sometimes manipulative, and occasionally possessive.  Apparently some of that comes from her origins.  Unlike Triss, who's appearance is mostly natural as i understand it, Yennefer's beauty comes from spells used to change her body after she learned magic.  She was an ugly hunchback and abused as you might expect beforehand.

All that being said, she really does care about Geralt and Ciri, going to great lengths for their sake.

Actualy for what i've read (in italy they need to relase only the last volume) all sorceress make exstensive use of glamour and/or potion for altering the physical apparance. Basicaly there isn't a natural "beautiful" sorceress

my cpu is intel 2500k  3,3ghz and i havent overclocked.  I think my psu is chieftec 80 plus or something like that. :edit: some kind of turbo model what is said to endure high loads better, so i guess its fine. :)

Ok, nice to hear. :)

Normally I would agree with you. But I think in this case CDPR invited the more vocal and hyperbole inclined corners of the internet with the way the company marketed itself. If those same fans now turn on them, well, there's that old saying about laying in beds you've made.

Just read about the "outrage" regarding the downgrading.........and god i cannot stop grinning like an idiot.

Considering the condescension, the elitaris that CDPR bragged toward the game industry i cannot fill nothing but a twisted sense of pleasure regarding this matter.

With that said the whole fact is a pack of bullshit just as ME3 ending or DA2 reception just for staying in bioware territory and should be regarded with the same level of disdain.

Don't know if it's downgraded or not, but I really like the lightning and the Sky, and I think it's going to be the best looking RPG out there.

Watch the trailers from 2013-2014. Its downgraded a hell of alot from that, but in comparison to the ps4/pc and min/max comparison its so much better. Its not what it should be but its enough to experience the world and the story.

Isn't that screenshot from the PS4 Version?

The Hills in the distance at 0:04 look more like the Hills in the first sreenshot rather than those grey lines of the second one.

Also the Clouds at 1:15 and 1:50 look more like the ones in the first one.

Same goes for the shadow, in the second screenshot only Gerald and the trees seem to throw shadows, while on the bottom right the shadow is completly missing.

In the Video every object has it's shadows.

The ground doesn't look like that plain texture from the second one. At 2:44 you can see all those little stones lying on the path at were his horse stands.

It really doesn't look quite as good as in the first trailers, but on PC it's still better than most of the comparision Screenshots some people are making.

It looks so good, its giving me Skyrim feels. In the sense that with Skyrim, I picked it up without knowing much and before I knew it, had sunk 200+ hours into the game because it was just an incredible experience.

My World of the Witcher book arrived today as well. As I've just finished the novels, I'll be reading through that each night up until Witcher 3 release.

Is that Imlerith?

I thought the King of the Wild Hunt was Eredin?

Edit: Wait, never mind.

The elf in the image is obviously the one on (our) left in this image whereas the King in the one in the center.

I can't wait to stab all of them.

Yes, but judging from the helmet he's grasping and his burly physique that's not Eredin. Imlerith and Caranthir are the two other generals.
