Watching the meltdown on TW forums is fascinating, threads are being locked minute by minute.

 

I suspect the actual game won't satisfy the most graphic-obsessed but will still be very pretty.

 

The problem with these graphic whoring people, is that they're basically expecting Avatar the Movie - graphic style, in a video game. And they each deserve a slap across a face. But I fear with each slap, their graphic expectations will just keep on rising.

 

The James Cameron Avatar movie that is.

 

Although how about that Midnight release, eh?

You kinda missed the point here. Its not about "whoring", its about expecting what was shown and still being shown as an in game footage. And no, I'm not a ******, just hate being deceived and lied to.

It just goes to show that no company is better than anyone else as the standing is now. Everyone lies and we are the victims of those lies. I still trust Bethesda, but after the whole pay for mod thing it is not looking bright. For me personally i don't care about the graphics at all. I want to play the game stable at 60 fps and play it for the story. But what is the point in showing something you are not gonna release? Also why lie about and kick people off the forums when they confront them. CD Projekt Red was supposed to be better. 

 

Thats my tiny rant, i am still psyched about the game. Getting it tomorrow and taking it slow.

I love when people who don't care completely miss the point of the downgrade and marketing dishonesty discussions and then present their irrelevant "it's just graphics, the game is still awesome" arguments.

Just remember the next time Destiny or DS2 or even Watch Dogs happens and you feel deceived, it's nobody else but you who helped these corporate suits perpetuate this abomination of demagoguery.

 

Right now I'm just sad the blind fanboyism clouds the judgement of the majority of the core audience and CDP can afford not to give a damn about any of this. I have no doubt this will be one of the best games I will have ever played but it would feel even much better if people who enjoy repeatedly being lied to at least stopped ridiculing those who don't. I struggle to see any logic in likening  "i don't like how they neutered PC version and kept denying it"  to  "the game suxxorz, looks like ps2 game, I won't ever buy, mrgwlh".

 

I should also note that being loud and fighting is not always futile. Look no further than at the Ubi's AC:Syndicate gameplay reveal.

Well said. I'd be absolutely cool with the quality we get now if not for the far better stuff they promoted the game with. Will most likely still love the game but I could've done without this

Wish I could find some of my quotes from a while back that said something along the lines of "No company can win 'em and all and at the some point the fans are gonna turn on CDP just as well as BioWare". It relates a bit to the attitude I've uphold for a long while given I'm not particularly new to being disappointed by developers I like. I tend not to cling to developers because it ultimately leads to disappointment, a good game is a good game, no matter who makes it, I like to think there are developers I like more than others, but treating them like they are family/friends who can do no wrong and would brave fire and ice to make sure that your needs are seen to is foolhardy.

 

Metal Gear is a prime example of another franchise which I've basically indifferent towards since Guns of the Patriots, but I remind myself that there are always good games out there to be played. If one developer doesn't deliver than someone else will.

The only way I can truly make a judgement on graphics is by looking at the game on my screen in front of my face (c.10 hours to go).

CDPR say it's fine, so the proof is in the pudding.

Up to now we've been looking at the menu not the food.

If someone blames them for VGX 2013 -> E3 2014 downgrade, they have not been paying attention. That one was necessary since the game could not have been scaled down to (very disappointing) console specs with the old heavy lighting system. However, after the engine overhaul, what we have seen in 35 min demo was the actual maxed out game running on a Titan (barely equivalent to a 970) with 20-30 fps. I doubt there would be an outrage if the game could look like that on top end hardware while still looking and running similar to what we have now on lower specs.

 

There are 2 things to be upset about:

1. they refused to invest even the bare minimum (that basically every developer/publisher does) into the PC version scalability, betraying the core customers;

2. terrible PR, deceiving and repeatedly lying in interviews and on the official forums, potshots at other devs/publishers and putting themselves on a pedestal while indulging in similar business practices.

I'm convinced that they mistakenly overshot the capability of next gen consoles with their early build. The lead designer said in an interview they could at that point create three different builds, or make one and scale it. They aren't a huge team so they chose the latter. From a PR standpoint, they still would have nothing to gain by saying, 'whoops, we f*cked up guys, the PC version won't really look like that.' They still would have been raked over the coals for 'catering' to consoles. That's why we started seeing them, about mid development, emphasizing parity. Only a few people brought it up on the forums back then on why that wasn't a promising sign. I do hope they realize it would have been better to explain it in the beginning instead of sticking to canned PR. At any rate, I'd truly be pissed if it meant the PC version looked like crap. But it doesn't at all. It's a good looking game and I'll be trying mods as soon as they come out.

Pre-loading from GoG. It´s nice that you can download the comic and OST while waiting for the game-download to finish.

Probably pick it up a month or two from now. Planning on build a desktop (more like have someone build it for me) this summer basically to run it on ultra. I'm super excited for it.

I'll pick it up post-July. Other then the fact that at the moment I don't have a platform to play it, I'm Busy with university exams.
