Well:
- I'm really not that worried that i will not get the story but there are already major change in the background story which i think it really sucks. I'm not the biggest fan of the books series (there are a lot of series that are better written that the Witcher) but if you use and estabilish lore based on books it's quite.....tasteless changing thing detalied in the said books
- I have this suspicion that for the main story in W3 CDPR will try to reproprose the final arc of the books series with some changes made here and there and that would be quite lame.

Ah yeah, forgive me, I forgot that event.
Hm, I guess it depends on how extensive the injury to the eyes is, and how quickly one reacts to the injury as soon as its inflicted. Yennefer's eyes were probably still quite...solid, even if some/most was burnt. As for Phillipa, well, Eyes aren't trees, so its easy to see that she can't heal from that. Maybe it'll be explained in game.

Choice based, yes, like Mass Effect? No, there are actual tangible effects from choices, like alternating paths,enemies,etc. Read up on the divergence of Chapter 2 i nTW2 with Iorveth path vs Roche if you want a sample of it.

The battle seems lost, the enemy has achieved near total victory...
But then a battle horn is heard and a thousand elves are seen upon a ridge looking down at the battle.
