So how's them fetch quests?
Pretty damn good actually.

The side quests are so much better than DA:I.
Is the game playable on PC in terms of bugs, FPS and stuff like that?
I'm trying to wait for the inevitable Enhanced Edition but seeing things about the game is making me anxious.
I'm getting some annoying crashes here and there, but nothing to downright ruin it. It's running pretty well besides that. Stepped into Novigrad and the frame rate still held up.

It helps that TW3 actually uses a cinematic camera for everything, too, unlike DA:I...

I had crashes (nvidia issue) but I found a fix really quick. I had no major issue with the game so far (10 hours). There is enough options to run it on an ordinary rig.
There won't be any Enhanced Edition for TW3 this time.
Not only the side quests are so much better than DA:I... Side quests are good. It's consistent with the setting, it has contexts, most of the side quests I did so far brings a "choice" to make. There's always something to make a quest like "bring a potion to someone" interesting. I don't know if I'll like the "witcher sense" in the long run however.
So I saw what happens when you try to be a playa around Triss and Yen. LOL !
I still don't know who I would choose between the two though. I have read both the books and played the games so I know the book depictions and game depictions of Triss and Yen are not the same.
Sigh....Tough choice...
I'm also pretty impressed with how grey the North/Redania v Nilfgaard conflict has been portrayed so far. Not that I expected anything less from CDPR's writers who shine at that, but just riding around the land you really get the sense this conflict is dirty, brutal and overall s*** for both sides. Nilfgaard seems to be welcomed in some places and seemingly improving them, while others despise them and we see more than our fair share of their brutality to justify that. Meanwhile, Radovid's Redania aren't the heroic freedom fighters by any means at all.
Makes me appreciate my neutral Geralt. Even though he doesn't really look the part, running around in Temerian armour for a while with a Blue Stripes tattoo, lol.
Where the heck is Novigrad geographically situated, in which country? And where's Velen? I'm confused.

Neutral Geralt ? How did you accomplish that ?! You must tell me, I tried my damnedest to be neutral in Witcher 1 and 2 but freaking failed. ![]()

Novigrad is geographically within Redania, but is essentially an independent city state from what I've gathered.
I have a bad feeling about the answer from what I've seen but reposting cuz ignored:
Sadly I'm not getting my hands on the game until june (after my exams), but could you please elaborate on M+KB controls? I can still turn PC around in a millisecond like in tW2, right? RIGHT?
That's the point of using a mouse after all. My eventual in-action camera mod might become useless if the turning is controller levels slow.

It's been a year since I last played Witcher 2, but the controls feel very similar and I have no problems with the responsiveness. If I were to nitpick, I'd single out that it feels slightly clunky riding a horse, some of the default keybindings are a YMMV type situation and that the menu system isn't as easy to navigate as I'd like. But all in all, no major complaints here.

Yes you can turn around real fast. There is an additional mouse sensitivity setting, so if you think it's slow you can make it faster. I personally had to lower the default sensitivity, it was too high, but that will depend on your mouse.
I feel like the open world is abit to much like Assassins Creed and the like. The icons are just there to make you run around like a maniac for them and check it out. Atleast there is actually interesting stuff to collect there, it enhances the gameplay instead of detracting from it. Makes the world a little less interesting though. I noticed this first in Velen. And i like to collect everything!!!

It turns out that Novigrad is formerly Redania and Velen formerly Temeria. That minor character who explains politics (avoiding spoilers, so no names) surely speaks about politics in vague ways. I only figured locations out after looking at the actual world map and squinting at that super tiny text that describes them. ![]()
Btw, for all those who played TW2... Do you feel an urge to laugh at every "C'mon, Roche!" that Geralt says to the horse? Yeah I know it's Roach, not Roche, but I can't help my hearing! After knowing Roche, how could Geralt name his horse Roach by accident? ![]()
(I suspect it's just a coincidence that the name is translated like this from Polish, but it's so damn funny)
It helps that TW3 actually uses a cinematic camera for everything, too, unlike DA:I...
Eavesdropping and auto-dialogue in ME3 was such a success, it had to make a comeback!
So far the transition between cutscenes and gameplay are great, no bullshit standing around and getting to half HP before you can react like in TW2.

You can switch those markers off and rely on just exploring. My experience so far is limited, but quests tend to indicate where to look and in combination with actual exploration this should help. If you really can't find something related to a specific quest, select that one and follow the indicator on the mini map.
Potato face Triss doesn't stand a chance to Yennefer.
The open world sucks, but CDPR was kind of forced to do one considering BioWare did.
Yeah the open world is lacking, sadly. And the Witcher senses, so tiresome. The medallion in the second game was also meh, has to be a better solution without exhausting my eyes. Another thing, the food in combat is ridiclous. You can just eat a chicken and regen way to fast, even faster than swallow. Most alchemy potions are just fluff, they are not good enough. You can only have 2 abilities activated at a time? Or more at higher level ofc, but still passives can't be active by default? Also weird design choice. Its just minor annoyances ofc, but things that worked well in the earlier games are changed? I don't get that. As you get older or atleast for me i get more sensitive about this stuff and i notice it way quicker than i did when i was younger.
The ability thing is really obnoxious.
I had already killed the griffin before I noticed you need to drag them to a slot for them to work.
Yeah the open world is lacking, sadly....
What do you mean specifically?
Also, are charging attacks (distance closers) still in? Reviewers in january confirmed their presence but I've never seen any (or maybe just did not recognise them).
I disagree.Potato face Triss doesn't stand a chance to Yennefer.

I disagree.
I think TW3 being open world is more related to Skyrim's success then Bioware going open world.
Yeah, but open world in The Elder Scrolls means that you stumble upon a cave or ruin with challenging combat and nice loot, maybe even a quest that leads further on. Here there are shrines that gives you ability points and a few ghouls. Maybe a sidequest that gives you better schematics, and its all fetch. Dragon Age Inquisition was the same way. Let the people that can make open world do it and the others can focus on what they do best. Story driven games in this case.
Wasn't meant to bash on your reply to the other guy, just abit frustrated.
This question has been asked a million times, but I'd rather get several answers from people who have actually played the games instead of one general one from some reviewer.
Do I need to play the first two Witcher games to understand and fully enjoy 3? I'm currently unable to play them, but I am reading the books, if that'll help at all.
I disagree.

Bioware is their direct competitor as they also make story driven games. Unlike Bethesda.
