I ****ing hate Gwent.

Spoiler

Do what I do. Throw the first round on purpose, using as few cards as you can but getting your opponent to use as many cards as they can, then set up to win the following two rounds.

An example of getting cards put on the field in the first round while still throwing it-

Your opponent sets a card down. You set a card down. They set another card down. You use the decoy card to bring that card back into your hand. They put another card down or pass, you pass, if they didn't pass before they pass now, round over. Its an example and you can extend it further with cards that change the field but the point is, they throw as much as they can early and have little left for when you smoke them later. You can also try to divide how you use your own cards on the field, example- First round using combat cards, second round ranged cards, third round siege cards, etc etc.

Try different options.

I beat the Nilfgaardian nobleman first time by clever use of weather cards.

But saving/reloading until you are dealt good cards helps a lot.

So, Keira Metz...

Does that backfire with Yenn or Triss?

Also is there a barber on the Velen map?

No, no effect on your romance.

This Man of Glass of the expansion, it's not that guy from White Orchard?

I rescued one from bandits around here, and he then does it for free.

Probably easiest to just go to Oxenfurt or Novigrad for it though.

Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is a real standard setter. I'm finding it difficult to remember any game that completely and utterly out classed everything in its genre to this extent.

The quests, the atmosphere, the mini games, the characters, the little details. Elder Scrolls ? Fallout ? Dragon Age ?  Now they just feel empty and bland compared to The Witcher. I say this as an Elder Scrolls and Dragon Age fan. Or should I say, previous fans of Elder Scrolls and Dragon Age.

Damn it, it has been a very long time since I was able to play a game so immersive that I forgot to freaking sleep ! Then when I actually got to sleep, I dreamt about the game !

Playing Witcher 3 is like having hot, steamy, saucy romantic sex with a woman for a few weeks and she spoils you so much to the point you don't bother looking at other girls and pine for her forever, even after she is done with you.

I have a strong feeling many future RPGs will live in The Witcher 3's shadow.

CDPR has spoiled me, and spoiled me good.

I suppose it takes a Polish game developer to show the world what polish is all about.

Thank you CDProjektRed, thank you.

It's sad that I'd almost forgotten what it was like to have a game actually live up to my expectations until now. :S

If you try to two-time Triss and Yennefer, there is a seriously bad but funny consequence for that later in game if you do such a thing. So don't two time both of them and you will fine. I am not sure about Kiera Metz though.

I agree.
In contrast to DAI the quests are really good, e.g. the quest with the guy, where you have to bury his possessed baby almost made me cry.

That quest was heavy. Even Geralt looked on the verge of beardy tears.

Yeah, if you try to get them both, it results in Geralt become laughingstock while Yennefer and Triss break up with you permanently. I doubt Kiera Metz or other romance option (uh...those Geralt can sleep with) will effect your relationship with Yennefer or Triss. It's just a one time thing for everyone, except for Yennefer and Triss who is main love interest.

Thanks for the info. I'm still reeling from the feels from the Bloody Baron quests. Damn ninja onions.

Now onto the biggest decision of them all :- Triss or Yen ?

I have read the books and I know Yen is Geralt's one true love and what have you but this is the game and the game doesn't exactly follow the books. Yen's romance arc in this game seems very saucy and steamy kind whereas Triss' romance arc is very romantic and lovey dovey.

Choices...choices...

It was one of my favorite quest lines ! It was like going on a Maglev version of the Feels-Train. First you think this story is cut and dried and then turns out it isn't and then you see the shite that's happening and the changes the Baron go through and his daughter and his wife and....Man...Good quest...Really good quest...

Here's a spoiler video on the moment where it hits you right in the feels at Mach 2.

Spoiler

To Bioware :- This is how you do a quest laden with feels. You make us care. You give us those gut wrenching moments. Not just let the story go through a weird arc and remove the possible choices we could make in it.

The Baron is probably my favourite character in the game so far. That whole quest line was pretty top-notch stuff. Went from beating the crap out of him to actually feeling sorry for him.

I'm really loving this game so far... from atmosphere to graphics and storytelling. Oh and of curse the music!

Some quests are really emotional like the one with the baron and his baby or the one with the cursed tower on the island  :( . Hit me right in the feels. And I really love the easter eggs and humor in this game. My favorite so far is the questname "You shall not pass!"

This game is such an outstanding achievement in gaming. My God, it's just HUGE and impressive. Performance wise it's.... Okay at times. With my toxic 280x's in crossfire I run the game well at 1080p on ultra and mostly get over 60+ frames. My only issues are that I can't seem to level up very fast, I'm playing on the 2nd hardest difficulty rating the blood and broken bones or whatever, I have had zero issues with the MAIN quests, but when I try and fight a werewolf that's like a level 12 (I'm only a level 8, almost a 9 BTW, hehe) or when I find that one Elemental that like a 20, or whatever I struggle really bad. Also, I have a harder time making potions and knowing if I have an oil always or... What. It's confusing. Way more than it was in Witcher 2. I think the potion and alchemy system in Witcher 3 is way inferior to the one in Witcher 2. I don't know where to find the igrediants nor do I really know if an oil is on my blades or what..... It's confusing.

But..... The game is fantastic and the main quest isn't nearly as punishing as Witcher 2's was on Dark Difficulty.

I did the same thing, and I struggled with the decision because I anticipated something could go wrong, but not "complete shitshow" wrong. I kept a hard save just in case it all went to hell, but I'm too far along to go back. I felt like a real bastard afterwards.
