Well, s***.

Spoiler

Good to see choices do have a lot of consequence down the line.  :o

I did the same thing, and I struggled with the decision because I anticipated something could go wrong, but not "complete shitshow" wrong. I kept a hard save just in case it all went to hell, but I'm too far along to go back. I felt like a real bastard afterwards.

Spoiler

Well, choices DO matter in this game, unlike that other game where choices is reduced to a few slideshows...Ahem..

The quests only get better from Crookback Bog & Baron. I know that's crazy but Novigrad is even more awesome, though its monsters are a different sort.

Finished the Velen mainstory yesterday and it's really difficult to describe how overwhelming this was.Every single questline was so well written, emotional and had such great characters, that I felt from now on it can only go downhill. And I mean every of the questlines. The adventure with Keira Metz, the bloody Baron and the Ladies of the Wood. Especially the Ladies of the Wood questline was so amazing and disturbing at the same time, just wow. and my fear it may get worse from now on vanished. I don't think I have every played a game with such well written stories, quests, dialogues and characters. And I love the Ciri parts. Not for the gameplay but for the story. Her speaking about "Uncle Vesemir" or Geralt brings tears to my eyes.

Now I'm going to do a bunch of sidequests. Don't want to continue with the mainquest, because I fear I might finish it soon (although I know I have about 40 hours of mainstory left) But I don't want it to end anytime.

Soak in the feels. Embrace the feels. Enjoy it.

Anyway, the game is not all about feels. There are some fun moments, like this one :-

There's moar funny stuff :-

You just have to love CDProjektRed for these little things. Its in the details you know ? There is humor, there is sex, there is sadness, there is romantic stuff, there is gore, there is fear, there is calm...This game seems to have all the feels nailed.

Without much spoilers, are there more flashbacks into the past? Perhaps even the book themselves where we got to see Geralt's hansa, Bonhart etc.?

So when will I have the chance to choose my choices made in previous game?

I'm aware that it is during a sequence when meeting Emhyr, but I am already 5 hours into the game and this hasn't happened yet.

Was it something when I started New Game and I should have chosen "No" when the game asked about TW2 save?

You have to advance in the story

Well, told Triss Geralt loves her and talked about their happily ever after.

Now to make sure I don't do things with Yenn :P

Speaking of Triss, I'm glad to see her beign improved from damsel-in-distress to... well, I won't tell, you'll have to see for yourself.

But I was really satisfied with what they have done with her character.

If I didn't like the Witcher 2's combat should I avoid the Witcher 3?

I couldn't play witcher 2 because of the combat and I'm managing witcher 3.

It's just really clunky =/ Everything else makes up for it though.

Exactly. This is why Triss Merigold is my Geralt's love interest as well, despite me having read the books.

Her character is really well done in Witcher 3 and you can see Triss going through a very fascinating character arc from Witcher 1 to Witcher 3. It is good to see her, in a sense, grow as both a person and character.

I also like the tone and the emotion of her romance arc over Yennefer.

Spoiler

CDPR deserves a big thumbs up for making both Triss and Yennefer be very appealing romance options in the Witcher 3. Both have their nuances and more importantly, both get their sexy-times with Geralt. Unlike the romance options from a certain game where only one gets to the third base while the other ends up in a fireplace date / first base...Ahem...ahem...

Just do not attempt to romance Triss and Yennefer at the same time.

Spoiler

Cheers.  :D

I noticed something on Xbox Live today. There is a "deal" for The Witcher 3 there now. Game + Expansion Pass. I was under the impression that expansions and DLC would be released for free anyway?

Only the DLCs (16 of them) are free. And most of them are really minor stuff like armor, beard styles or perhaps an additional quest.

Expansions have to be paid for. They are not like the usual EA "DLCs" with 3 hours of content, but full fledged expanions akin to Shivering Isles in Oblivion etc. Hence the price.

The expansions will not be free, the dlc on the other hand is. Isn't it just fluff dlc? Like clothes, hair packs and that kind of jazz?

No, there will be free DLCs sure, but actual expansions(you know, the sizable ones with new areas and such) will have a cost. There are two announced, one to be released this year and another to be released next year. They'll be $9.99 and $19.99 separately or a bit cheaper with the Expansion Pass.

Yeah. Sadly, the term "DLC" is mostly the term used for additional content nowadays. The days of full fledged expanions like Shivering Isles, Bloodmoon or Night of the Raven seem to be long gone, which is why so many people don't seem to differentiate between said expansions and DLCs. :(

Yep. CDPR is taking a jab at the industry with their free DLCs which most other devs would charge money to pay for. They are releasing expansion packs for the Witcher 3 though which will cost you money. But it will be an expansion pack so it will be worth your money.
