I know y'all are progressing too quickly because judging by all the posts without spoiler tags, y'all have advanced far faster than I have. :P

I'm getting tired of all the dumb spinning of Geralt when attacking.

W1 fighting animations were so much better. Fast style actually felt fast without looking like a ballerina.

I hate Gwent with a burning passion, and I've come to realize that I just hate all card games in video games. Caravan, Gwent, those card games in the Assassin's Creed series -- especially AC III -- that I can't be bothered to remember, et cetera.

Divide and conquer. When you get your initial hand, think of strategies you can use with them. Examples-

If I have a bunch of siege cards that are worth a ton and a card that doubles the strength of all cards in its row, I want to match them up for huge points for a round.

If I've got a card(lets call it card one) that brings back a card from the discard pile(card two) when its played and a decoy card along with it, I can play the former(card one) to bring back a card I used in an earlier round(card two), then use the decoy on card one, play card one again, and bring back another card(card three) from the discard pile.

If I can get my opponent to use up as many of their cards unnecessarily as possible in the first round thats great;I can then win the next two pretty easily with planned attacks. Basically thinking a couple rounds ahead.

Its all foresight. You need to have a plan in mind right as you're offered the opportunity to switch cards at the start of a game. Then implement it or change accordingly depending on the opponents skill level.

That way you can own an opponent, for example in a game I played against a merchant earlier the score went-

First round- Merchant 16, Geralt 0

Second round- Merchant 0, Geralt 1

Third round- Merchant 21, Geralt 76

(it was something like that)

Plan plan plan.

So which game has the best intro? To me it's TW2 by a landslide. TW3 is a tutorial through and through, but not much attention was paid to the story aspect, the plot parts that get you hooked. The previous Witcher games at least did that, but TW3 just teaches you lore and mechanics, and you're on your way. There is very little to draw you in. Not even Yen's ass, as we already get naked Triss in the last intro, and in that case we actually got to converse with her.

Hard to beat the siege on the La Valletes/Foltest's assassination, really. I did like the Kaer Morhen dream this game for nostalgia feels though.

Seeing as how many of the main quests have a lot of sidequests within them. I have been concentrated mainly on those. I haven't done a lot of the regular sidequests. I did just arrive in the Skellige Isles. This place is huge. So many areas to explore.

Yeah gameplay wise i don't like this game that much to be honest. Alchemy is all about **** hits the fan now and not preperation, you don't have to brew regularly you just have to do it once and then meditate to gain the potions back (aslong as you have alcohol.) The sword play is ok, but its to much hitting on others guards or rolling. The counter attack system on the other hand is solid, and much better than what is presented in the Arkham games.

I liked the fighting in the first game, because it felt like that is how the Witchers fight, the rythm in the combat as you charge up the combos. That is ofc based on my impressions from the game not anything else. Problem with it was the same as now, fighting becomes to easy after a while and abit boring. At the moment in The Witcher 3 i am just hacking my way through anything, i don't really have to stop and think and prepare like i had to in the previous games. I am not playing at the hardest, but the one just below. Oh and the fall damage is insane, i lost 1/10 of my hp jumping off a ledge which was a meter over the ground, a meter!

I could continue the rant on how i don't really like the crafting system in general, the inventory, the leveling and ability system pretty much anything gameplay related. But then again the story and characters are so great that i don't care about it when i play, its stuff i think about after playing. DA:I had many issues aswell, but i liked the story and the characters to much to care about the rest and that is the what makes a good game for me. Everything has flaws, but when the flaws dissapear in the greatness it doesn't matter.

People think TW1 fighting wasn't like a ballerina? Lol

That game it was exactly like ballet, with all those ridiculous front flips and doing three circles before an attack. TW3 is more solid.

http://segmentnext.c...racter-endings/

So here is a link that details most of the endings for The Witcher 3. Don't click if you don't want to be spoiled, you have been warned.

Personally, I like the game endings a lot. There is genuine sense of closure in them, unlike that certain game with 3 shades of colors for endings...Ahem...

For my  canon playthrough...

Cheers.  :D

I never rely on a game forcing me to fight in a satisfying way. When I approached W2 for the first time, I was like "oh whatever, I'll suffer through the combat somehow" after seeing videos of people spamming light attacks until enemy dies - rolling - spamming light attacks until enemy parries, etc. Eventually I ended up having a lot of fun just by using everything at my disposal, all signs, bombs, traps, throwing daggers and approaching each fight differently. Not because I needed to, but because it was fun.

I'll never uderstand people who play for 'maximum efficiency' and then complain how the gameplay is boring because the most effective style happens to involve mashing 2 buttons or something. Do you play games to prove something/to exploit their defficiencies or to have fun?(general rhetorical question, not a response) If the game does not force you to play in an entertaining way, make your own fun. It's extremely difficult to design a combat system that would not get exploited sooner or later. If a player skips entire aspects of the gameplay because they don't need them to win, there is noone else to blame for making it boring.

Motto of the day: Create. Your. Own. Challenge.
