o.o I support Nilfgaard and i hope for the option to do so to be present in the game, i didn't like from what i have read thus far that the Emperor is the primary antagonist.

Pisses me off, shades of Cerberus and all that.

He is antagonistic to the Northern Kingdoms, but that does not make him the antagonist.

Philippa Eilhart having a sexual relationship with Sigismund Dijkstra in the novels makes it unlikely she's a lesbian like some people claim.

I wouldn't necessarily say she's evil either, she has her goals and ambitions, ultimately wishing for a stable north and a land where mages are free from persecution, although willing to manipulate people and rule said land with little to no opposition.

Siding with the Scoia'tael also leaves some interesting thoughts, perhaps it's pointless to try and help them because the elves are utterly doomed. However, it is somewhat fitting as well, because the time for witchers is also inevitably reaching its end.

Having seen Dijkstra in the demo..

Could you believe these two had a tryst in the books? :P

She'll sleep with men when it suits her, but she prefers the ladies. TW2 was...pretty clear on that. I'm sure she'll play a major role in TW3. Imo she sits just below Letho and Emhyr as the cleverest and most manipulative character in the game, blinded only by play time with Cynthia. For people that may not have noticed, watch the smirk on her face as she exits the hut after examining Saskia. She knows Saskia's true form and is already planning accordingly. Every word she utters to Geralt after that is suspect.

The Emperor is not the main antagonist, it's the Wild Hunt.

I will actually be surprised if they make him a bad guy, especialy since him and Geralt were never really enemies. Unless if there comes choice where you will either have to side with North or Nilfgaard or be neutral.

Cerberus was just poorly handled in ME3, they basicaly became a new Empire and Illusive Man goes from the smartest man in the series to a total dudu brain. CDPR did justice to pretty much all the characters from the books that were present in the game, they will no doubt do the same with Emhyr.

I know who he is.  :P  Though I didn't know his name was Eredin. Was just pointing it out because he looks like a much bigger antagonist than Tyw- the Emperor. His conversation with Geralt in the trailer seems to indicate he is warning Geralt for the danger the Hunt poses to Ciri and that he wants Geralt to protect her.

I don't even think he will be the main antagonist. He just don't seem like a equal enemy compared to Geralt. His sword skill aren't that special (even Ciri "defeated" him) and he has no magic power any more. In a sword fight, he would be no match for Geralt. I think the main antagonist will be

Ok, if we get a Big Bad on Vilgefortz level... Geralt wont be able to battle him. Not alone in any case. So we as players would have to rely on a GREAT deal of other factors, being magical items and a "band of brothers". And that would get us too close to Deja Vu. Tight now I hardly see that.

Well, we have seen all the witchers from the wolf school (+ letho) in the sword of destiny trailer. That would be our "band of brothers"(+ ciri, triss and yennefer). And I think only a very small minority of the potential witcher 3 buyers have read the books. Especially considering there is still no ofifcial english translation of the last books, so that wouldn't be a Deja Vu for them. Just thinking of the last flashback in Witcher 2.

You can see the Wild Hunt including Eredin. There were only 5 witchers and they still managed to cause a stalemate, what doesn't speak for the strenght of the Hunt or Eredin.

Here is an interesting observations on how BioWare and CD Projekt RED handle gays/lesbians.

*snip*

I think you are looking too much into their sexuality and its meaning. Furthermore, labeling the characters as villains and into dichotomy is a disservice to the Witcher

While Henselt is a very entitled individual who displays a total indifference to treaties and even justifies rape simply b/c of his royal status, he does portray a sense of honor (which is showcased in the massacre caused by Sabrina) and a small touch of camaraderie between his soldiers. Philippa, while indeed seeks to establish as much power as possibly for her by almost any means necessary, does have the North at heart and ultimately wants to preserve and enforce peace in the lands through international treaties. Her aid with Saskia to create an egalitarian meritocratic state in the Pontar Valley is genuine, but of course she would be in control of its administration, while Saskia would be more of a beloved figurehead. Dethmold I can agree on to be more on the despicable side of characters in the game, since he has an non-existent morality, but he is still loyal to Kaedwen and Henselt and is an intriguing character.

Good thing Geralt didn't get into Saskia's pants. No need for him to plow everyone again that he meets. Besides, she prefer dwarves IIRC.

Now that Foltest is gone I could give a rats ass about what happens to the North. Emhyr can do what he wants as long as it doesn't interfere with Witcher's work.

I lost most respect for him after he proudly looks at the fires of Loc Muine. Nice job butchering lots of sorcerers who had nothing to do with the Lodge. When the nilfgaardian ones start throwing fireballs at his army will he too? Besides, he left behind several knights to kill Geralt in Loc Muine for not giving him Annais. Either he greatly understimated Geralt, or sent several men knowingly to their deaths to make a point. Either way, I don´t care much for him. I´m not a fan of Emhyr´s getting expansionist again either, in the saga it looked part of his plan to save the world, but now just seems like power hunger.

Wat.

Isn't she gay?  :o Or was it for political reasons?

Then again, Geralt did think Dijkstra was cute.

I feel the same. So long as Geralt can do his thing with Triss, Yennefer and the rest of their friends, I'm happy.

Besides, Nilfgaard isn't evil either. Why should I care if they conquer the north.

I have noticed the Witcher 3 gameplay demo videos show dialogues, interactions, choices, and activities and dynamics in city/village environments, but not a lot of combat.  The combat in the Witcher 3 demo videos are very brief and over quickly.

On the other hand, Dragon Age: Inquisition 3 videos show mostly combat; in fact, too much combat and not much of anything else.

The videos more or less give us an overall impression of what are the focus of either game.
