I met Vernon Roche. I have to say, while it's nice to get some extra closure for Witcher 2's cast, it's just obvious fanservice too. Vernon and Letho are simply cameos and I feel like that's already a step down from what I expect from CDPR.
...but I digress. There's no way to fit all the beloved Witcher 2 characters into Witcher 3's plot without making an overly bloated cast in the end. I thought Vernon and Letho's side content in Witcher 3 sticks out like a sore thumb and in contrast to how good the rest is.
But on the other hand I just finished up Triss's arc in Novigrad. What can I say? My outcome with her was really awesome. And the last cutscene before her quest ended was a stroke of genius from CDPR.
I also wanna say, what I like about this game is that while there seems to be more focus on romance this time, but it's still not like there's too many options and half of them don't really do anything for the plot. I think having Triss as a romance option is a logical option given her history with Geralt in W1 and W2, but the rest of the optional romances are just flings and honestly, it's better that way.
I remember in Mass Effect 3, I was kind of amazed at how many ME1 and ME2 romances were possible to rekindle with, but at the same time I felt like it was just too much and too little attention to the individual romances. In a lot of ways, Witcher 3 strangely reminds me of how much I love Mass Effect 1. There's basically two canon romance options and there's more detail to each of them.
I'm getting all excited for ME4 now, but I'm getting ahead of myself here.
