Ugh, I feel you. You either draw your Biting Frost ( preferably 2) or pretty much auto-lose against the ridiculous zerg rush. Another way is to just play cheap cards/spies on first round, let them blow their load, then pass. Once they exhaust their Muster cards, they are easy pickings, and with luck some of said Musters come from their hand so you gain card advantage.
Albeit it's becoming easier as time goes on. A tip, beat the players indicated by the Gwent quests, their unique cards are often 10 strength heroes, or if not just pretty good in general, and many of them aren't that hard to beat. Zoltan did give me a headache with his three Hero cards however.
I'm just glad I barely won that match(I lost to that merchant several times first). Man, I need to get the better Gwent cards, yeah. For now I'm questing.
