Take This(But Not That): Where Witcher 3 Triumphs and Stumbles. Some of the stumbles seem fairly minor to me.

You don't have to do the quest to get those cards of his for that?

I'd already done that quest before recruitment, it may be a requirement - not sure.

I'll definitely have to give Gwent a Full Attempt next playthrough, sounds a lot more interesting than I originally took it for. Currently at the near-end part of the game. I'm happy with how they handled the

It's interesting to see how the Witcher 2 Characters from the Save Import react to certain other NPCs. Seeing the import stuff the other way around is gonna be neat. :)

I'm liking Djikstra more and more, even if I can't spell his name for the life of me. Priscilla also grows on me, she's adorable. At last, I was starting to think Novigrad only contained the likes of Menge, Cleaver and Whoreson jr.

Also seems like the xp gain in Novigrad is really fast. I am progressing through the main quest at a reasonable pace yet the mission I'm on is level 11 and I'm level 17 now. Seems it suffers a bit of the Pillars of Eternity problem where the leveling curve is good at early levels but starts to snowball out of control from the midgame onwards.

That Kaer Morhen...I have no words. Probably one of the greatest sequences in any game I've played in a long, long time.

...though I don't know who you think I am, CDPR, but the average person cannot survive this many feels in rapid succession.  :crying:

Every moment between Ciri and Geralt in TW3 is amazing. TW3 is really the stroy about Geralt's family, he is such a wonderful father.

My favorite moment, what a journey!

The relationship between Geralt and Ciri is probably my favorite part of the game. So heartwarming and a very nice contrast to some of the other parts of the game

So I just got the update for the new contract, and Yennefer's alternate look.

Apparently the only way to toggle it is at the games MAIN menu. Not the IN-game menu.

So far i'm enjoying the game a lot thanks to a decent combat this time around.
But the amount of filler content and the lack of dialogue choice is really abysmal.

Filler content? really? My experience TW3's side quest has better quality than main quests from RPGs came out in last 5 years. And the possible choices (not necessary from dialogue really) within these side quests are very well done as well.

See, this is one of those moments where the game just reminds me of DA:I again, and I can't help but compare and usually, Witcher 3 just blows DA:I out of the water. I cringed and laughed farcically. "oh, Bioware, not this silly singing again!" in that Dawn Has Come moment, and here I was like "wow, it's a musical number in a medieval setting, that feels like it's actually inside the setting and not a stage-performance where the actors (characters) step out of their roles to do the animator's bidding"

This moment was golden. I don't know why DA:I was full of pop-singer-bards and a theatrical musical number that breaks all believability. This is how you do it, and it's actually a fairly simple scene in concept anyway.

Don't see why one would complain about filler, since side quests actually adds substance to the over-arching narrative; be it in the form of fillings gaps regarding the political turmoil--exploring the ramifications and the continuing conflict of the war in various ways--or expanding the world through monster slaying or simple side activities like treasure hunting or card games.

Sure, if you want to simplify it you can argue that side quests primarily revolve around the same concept: talking, investigating, killing and more talking. But that is a huge disservice, since the beauty lies in the detail and what each quest offers differently from the other. Naturally there is a range in quality, but the majority are far more engaging than what I've come across with your regular RPG.

As for dialogue, well that is subjective. Geralt is a pre-established character, so it is limited if one compares to games like BioWare. I personally prefer this method, since the dialogue flows more naturally and adds avenues for Geralt to come across as a living individual in the game, without coming across as binary.

Agree, this is an golden moment not only for gaming but also for music and directing as well. The emotion build up and character expression are amazingly done.

Again polish and french version of this song is purely golden.

I prefer the "traditional Bioware way", which does not illustrated stupid paragon/renegade colors. These obvious black/white choices in any RPG dialogue immediately takes maturate context out of it.

Yes, and it has been a selling point for the Witcher franchise right from the very first game. I'm quite impressed with certain decisions that I've made--which I initially viewed as the clear right choice--ended up "backstabbing" me later on, and then even further on solidifying my stance that I made the right one from the very beginning when I saw how it impacted other external factors, rather than just the party involved with said specific quest.

TW3 has certainly made a landmark when it comes to choices and consequences in their games, in addition to the portrayal of them.

Hmm? Moreso than Witcher 2?
