well my opinion on the game so far is mixed, on one side the gameplay is fun, on the other i dont really give a **** about the world and the characters so the story does nothing for me

Also something relating to The Ladies of the Wood quest line...apparently you can free the Spirit in the tree BEFORE starting this quest? is that true?

Yeah it's mentioned briefly but it's also a followup to the books.

A djinn is just a genie, 'I grant you 3 wishes but I also hate granting wishes so I'll do my best to screw with your wishes'.  But to a mage that can control a djinn it makes them very powerful. It's hard to do and djinn's are rare so it's not really done often.

 

Long story short, in the books a djinn was destroying a town as Yen tried to get control over it and Geralt had to make a last wish in order to set the djinn free and get it out of town. Geralts wish bound him and Yen together for life. It wasn't ever stated as far as I remember exactly what his wish was but it was treated as a romantic gesture since Yen was about to die in her attempt to capture the djinn and she refused to stop trying.

 

So Yen wanted to know if their love over the years was because of that magic bond or if they really loved each other at all. That was her wish on the boat in the game, to have the spell undone so she would know if it was real love.

I'll give this game my first negative. I can't replay it so soon after finishing it once. I got to Novigrad and just hit the wall there, i can't go on. I know the dialogue to well and the choices. Its just to fresh. To be honest its not really negative, it means the game had an impact the first time around. Will probably give it a few weeks or more until i pick it up again.

I can understand that. 

 

I'm taking my 2nd playthrough a lot slower. With the mindset of doing all side quests (of my level range) first, before going into the main storyline for each part.

 

Then after my 2nd playthrough, I'll sort out an Iorveth save for my 3rd one, but I think I'll go play through Inquisition first. I still need a Knight-Enchanter with a Josie romance, in case any DLC for that game furthers romance arcs. 

 

But bravo on being able to remember all the choices lol. What little memory generally fails me all the time, so I'm quite eager to get to Novigrad with this slow pace, to soak it all in, rather then be swept up in the main story.

That's how I was when I finished the game lol. After a few sessions of feelings, crying, realizing this is the end of Geralt's story (Which is actually making me tear up a little right now), I'm a bit better. I'm pushing in a few other games as well to allow space to breath. But I'm not going to lie and say I'm fine because I'm not.

 

That story was just...wow. And I never really thought there'd be an end to Geralt's story, so to have it be set in stone is just unpleasant. Don't get me wrong, I'm pleased he can now breath and live in peace, but after these 2 DLC's (and any other if they do do more), its going to be a shame not being able to journey with him again.

I only completed it this early because 

 

1: Life stuff. I have plenty of time to play at the moment.

 

2: I got swept up into the Main Story that I forgot about all the side quests. And when you're just doing the Main story stuff in a game, it does speed things up. But not this time!
