Restarting this topic with the following conditions:

1) The discussion is about The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, not how this compares, favorably or unfavorably, to BioWare products.

2) There will be no call outs to or insults of other companies or fan communities.

3) Everyone play nice.

LOL

I am enjoying Witcher 3 a lot.

What. It's just a little bit more complex than your avarage mini game, but it's too simple for a trading card game as it is. Hope for good draws to RNG out random peasants with hero cards, then after you amassed decent cards, just stomp them. It's a chore at first and a silly time sink later. I had harder time beating the leader ability negate Nilfgaard deck commoners than the champion dude with his stupid monster horde deck.

The AI is predictable, bait them fodder cards to soak up the destroys, then drop some -/- on their massed units (add extra Golden dragon board wipe for lulz), and drawing extra cards with spies (and Decoy theirs back) is way toooooo powerful.

Oh yeah, the AI is pretty exploitable. If it wins the first round, it will always drop one card then pass the second. Even when playing against the North, who get a free card out of that deal. Baiting Scorch is also easy, just play a 6+ card and the AI will use it, rather than on your boosted 20 strength Milva.

Another major failure it has a multiplayer CCG is how blatantly pay to win it is. There is no difference in cost between a 1 strength Redanian Infantry and a 15 strength, Hero Geralt. Between a 1 strength, Muster Ghoul and a 6 strength, Muster Crone. So on and so forth. Rarer cards are quite simply better in all respects, rather than just slightly better or being side-grades.

Yeah, the aspect of war and politics is something I found strangely lackluster too, considering it was at the heart of Assassins of Kings. The ''war'' consists of two army camps chilling across the Pontar and a handful of old battlefields with corpses, plus the Temerian birdwatchers resistance. Novigrad's criminal underworld gets more screen time. And at least in Inquisition you had mages and Templars actually fight each other in the Hinterlands.

As for the politics, I've also been unimpressed. Emhyr seems like the biggest waste of Charles Dance ever, and Radovid is just a madman that needs to die, not even bothering to put it under spoiler tags since it's apparent from the minute you meet him.

Cripes, people in Velen and Novigrad seem far more concerned about their witch hunts than, say, the humongous Imperial army that is poised to wash over the North. Which diminishes the relative importance of the Nilfgaardian invasion (and by extention somewhat, TW2's plot) by a lot. The story is pretty much all about Ciri and Geralt, and while a personal touch is always nice...

Spoiler

I second that the handling of the war and politics in general is the biggest disappointment i had with this game(which is otherwise superb all things considered and one my fave games of all time), along with it's handling of aspects from TW2(like Iorveth/Saskia/Upper Aedirn or more minor things like "red stripes" Roche). The war is relegated to background noise and there's only one instance where Geralt has part in any kind of battle in it.

The worst part of the sidequest that you mentioned in your spoilers is that it implies...

Skellige has been lovely. I really dislike the sailing bits for the most part but the environment is just beautiful. As is the music.

Followed Cerys to the island that's far up north and completed the quest up there.

Tribute video. I've made a good number of these kinds of vids throughout the years, this is by far the longest I've ever done, took me dozens of hours to do it. Not fully satisfied mind you, so I might take it down and upload a new version.

First time anyone has ever told me to do it so of course I'm doing it. The thought if it was reasonable or not happened later.

I didn't even hesitate to throw it in the oven.

I like to think it was because I knew what was going on but I think I'm actually just a horrible person and wanted to be able to say a game let me throw a baby in an oven once.

That sucks for everything not getting EXP.

I'll just be over here...still getting exp :(

I found out that apparently there's a Milva Gwent Card? Oh man, I really want that one, I loved that (Half) Dryad lady.

Still reeling over the fact that Geralt's group of misfits all met with ends. They followed him to hell, but couldn't make it back.

Oh my god

2 things;

One - I had no idea Eskel had a Child of Surprise haha. His codex entry states that the scar on his face was from her!

And two; There's a page from a book in Witcher 3. And well, take a look at it

It reflects upon a quest in Witcher 2, and wow, its quite a revelation.

...I might have to look for a different Witcher 2 save to import into the 3rd.

Lmao.

A non-sterile Geralt would be dangerous.
