This is the worst thread for spoilers on this forum.

 

Its odd in a way because usually people discussing games in other threads in the Lobby are good at putting things in spoiler tags. For some reason this thread completely fails at it.

I don't know why but its annoying as hell. I've luckily managed to remove most of what I didn't want to see here from memory but still, its irritating. Every other thread does fine with tags, this one is the sole exception.

I've been trying out different builds and so far have come to the conclusion that alchemy is the most powerful tree to invest in. Instantly regaining 25% vitality for drinking any potion is insane, acquired tolerance sets your toxicity bar so high you can use mutagen decoctions and still use a lot of regular potions. Finally, you wipe entire groups of enemies using grapeshot or dancing star with cluster bombs.

Book question for those that finished the series; I am up to 'The Tower of Swallows' and the 2 books I just finished (Time of Contempt and Baptism by Fire) covered the same story and has yet to resolve.  Does 'The Tower of Swallows' end this story arch or does it continue into 'the Lady of the Lake'?

Arrived in Novigrad ready to get my heart on for Triss! 

 

But firstly, I swept the floor with the Banker and the Innkeeper for there Cards. Completed the Innkeeper Gwent Quest, then I defeated the lady at the... "Mature" establishment shall we say (The one where you can pay for bumping uglies), and then that quest completed. 

 

She recommended me my next opponent, but as the quest completed, I'm guessing that guy is part of the High Stakes Gwent tournament? Clarification would be much appreciated.

 

You can play with some other people after Madame (not the tournament). This quest should reopen after you advance the main storyline, I guess. If you want to gather full deck,

But for the one that asked, all of those Novels before The Swallow's Tower have official English translations. The Swallow's Tower is due out next year in English, and Lady of the Lake the year after. However you can find quite good fan translations online, which is what I did. 

 

The first 2 Novels are a collection of short stories, and I would highly recommend them. Sword of Destiny includes one of my favourite characters Borch.

 

Blood of Elves through to Lady of the Lake is one big story arc, with Lady of the Lake being the finale. And sets us up to the first Witcher game in a way.

huh, something strange happened to me.

 

I was re doing a playthrough of Witcher 1 and in the first chapter you can stumble upon a spectre of the king of the Wild Hunt. The weird thing this time was that when he appeared, he was all red whilst before he appeared in blue and same in all the videos I saw in YouTube. Weird =p

That's a rather sad end for the legendary Geralt of Rivia.

CDprojket confirmed that there is NO levelcap. Players can acquire all of Geralts abilities. Also rumors of a new game+ mode coming.

Got through quite a bit in relation to the main quest. I think I'm up to Act 3 now?

 

Finished up the Skellige arc and loved it for the most part. Although the final quest did leave a bit to be desired in terms of being utterly predictable.

You mean the sinister woman turns out to be responsible for the whole thing!?

Some extra characterisation and spotlight to Birna Bran and her son would have been appreciated. There were plenty of things that could have been explored. With that said, I did wince when I came upon her body tied to the rock (even with her character model being in perfect condition, CDPR pls)

 

Kaer Morhen was also great fun.

Loved the interactions between Lambert, Eskel and Geralt. Oh, Yen too. Their night drinking! The megascope! Wish Triss had been there to begin with though, would have liked to interact with her before everything had gone to ****.

 

Easily the most emotional moment in the game thus far occurred soon after.

Just a rollercoaster of emotions. The look on his face at first is just heartbreaking followed by the cradling and then the embrace. A whole lotta feels.

The Isle of mist scene is just a masterpiece of visual storytelling for me.

Muting all sound effects, having this very sad song playing in the background and putting all the emotional work in Geralts face and body movements was just genius. CDP showed how much Ciri meant to him just by this, they already built it up and this was where they at last showed it visually and it was worth it.

 

The scene was powerful and emotional.

The way it was framed and progressed was just so clever. There's an underlying tension that just builds up to the point that you start to feel overwhelmed. The relief afterwards is more palpable as a result.

 

It was simple, subtle and incredibly effective.

Any tips for dealing with wraith mobs? I'm only level 4 I believe, still haven't gotten the hang of parrying. Maybe I need to roll dodge more.
