That whole article of that CDPR guy damage controlling to avoid SJW rage is horrible. "Duurrr, we forgot that other races exist... nope, we're all living under our rocks not ever thinking twice about the fact that all characters are white in Witcher 3. Nope! We "forgot"!" smh.
That is stupid. He's lying and everybody knows it. A good honest reply would've been better. I think they didn't add a lot of human racial diversity because it becomes too inconsistent with the previous two games, the books they're based on, polish society at large, etc. I don't ever think they wanted to offend deliberately, but he could've been honest and said "we didn't because honestly we just decided against it or didn't want to add it in just to suit the norm". You could've probably been even more polite than that without telling bullshit.
I think adding black people or asians would've caused entirely different issues within the game's world. Elves are being oppressed because they are different. I know the culture is a big thing but honestly it's mostly just their look. Same goes for dwarves - a race that is actually somewhat represented by a real world minority, and what did they call them in the game? "Non-humans". To be honest, if there had been black people in the game they would've probably not been equal with the white people in it, and be considered "non-humans" as well, and I don't mean that as an offense to anyone... I'm just saying, for what the game's setting is, it would become contradictory or make other attempts at dealing with discrimination in the story unbelievable.
The whole humans vs elves and dwarves race conflict is, in the way I see it, kind of a way to deal allegorically with RL racial issues of the middle ages within a medieval fantasy setting. Prominent people who are criticising this (for attention and money) - Anita Sarkeesian for one, don't really care about what the story is. They're just biased because they think it's just games, and games are toys and mindless entertainment.
I will be so furious if Witcher 4 (who knows) will be a high-fantasy wonderland of racial equality and every minority of RL represented in a modern fashion. To me it breaks the authenticity compeltely, and again, I don't mean this as an offense or any kind of personal opinion that I'm racist or intolerant. I can seperate fiction from reality, and for the record I've seen just as many black people say they're tired of this SJW race as I've seen feminists who feel wrongly represented by Anita Sarkeesian.
If this is truly a medium for art, then authenticity is the biggest factor out of all. Without honesty or ownership and balls video games will devolve into mindless entertainment, chained by common norms and politically correct opinions. There is no art to political correctness.
I think I've said enough for now lol
