Just a question.
I plan in playing WItcher 3, very excited about it, but decided to play Witcher 1 and 2 for the first time before.

I've read that Witcher 3 however isn't very friendly regarding choice importance and so wanted to know if things like siding with The Order/the Scoia'tael or deciding to romance Triss are actually taken into account ?

If not, is there an established "canon" ?

Sadly CDPR isn't as good as Bioware with Save import (who aren't pro's either)

The choices really don't matter (apart from a few references and a side quest or so)

Still don't let that stop you all three are terrific games (especially TW3)

Finally started playing it. I have to say: This game is insane. The gameworld feels so much alive, and the details are stunning. Everything has a story to it. This grumpy, critical, oldschool geezer of a gamer, might just have found a new favorite game.

Damm I'm envious now I already completed it a few days ago what a masterpiece

The rule of thumb seems to be that if you want some recognition in the next game, never do the Scoia'tael path. Siegfried and Roche come back, while Yaevinn and Iorveth are never seen again.

Which blows because Iorveth's path is great. I prefer Roche's, but still. Oh well.

Yeah I noticed that

In TW1 if you do the Order's path you at least get a Siegfried cameo in TW2, with Yaevin nothing

And going with Roche seems to be best for TW3, Roche and Ves at least get side quests (and can even join you in a main mission)

Poor Iorveth (and Saskia too for that matter) are nowhere to be found, its as if they never existed

The expansion description says old characters will be returning for both of them. Most people I've seen online are speculating the returning characters are Iorveth, Saskia, Shani, and maybe Siegfried.

Iorveth not making an appearance is understandable, though...him and Saskia have a new country to run. Though a mention of that would have been nice at least.

One can only hope.

It'd be nice to find out what the hell happened to Adda too.

Just hoping for muh Shani. She seems pretty likely based on what CDPR has said on the forums. They've teased her a bit for the Oxenfurt expansion.

Would be awesome if they manage to implement those characters, just like they did with Triss/Kiera/Yennefer, into the local questlines.

I haven't beaten the first one yet either. So I think I will do a full playthrough later. And join the elves in The Witcher 2, as well. I joined Roche when I beat that game the first time.

I wonder how many hours i will take, though. Playing through the whole trilogy. 400 hours?

If you can get Iorveth, Roche, and Letho all back to Kaer Morhen that would be insane. You could cut the tension with a knife. That's how you

I'd go for Shani to be honest, have someone for Geralt who doesn't manipulate and use him. RIP Essi, Geralt's one shot at pure love.

Yeah...she's probably the most normal, well adjusted and honest girl Geralt's ever been with. Would have been nice if it worked. :C

Though I doubt Shani'd be a full, Yen/Triss caliber romance option again if they did do that, more along the lines of Keira...they'd need to implement that into the main story. Which could happen I guess but I doubt it.

Yeah I can see myself ending up with just choosing Shani's romance over others.

Now that I've stepped away and taking a break from my 2nd playthrough, I feel they could of implemented her into Witcher 3. Say if you turned both Yennefer, and Triss down, they'd ask you about it, and then you respond with something about Shani.

That would of been quite perfect. Because that path would indicate one where Geralt leads himself down, where as its easy to see that Triss/Yennefer have both led him down their own path for him.  I mean technically we lead him down a path in the games, but you get the idea.

Also why did you bring up Essi man. That's not fair. It's a shame there wasn't a side quest involving Geralt and Dandelion going to her grave.

I'm going to go wallow in my feels now

Finally done with the Keira quest and enjoyed it.

Loved the musical hints towards TW2's Main Theme/Sorceresses Theme.

One thing I don't like about the Witcher 3 though and that's the lack of incentive to do anything.

I might be wrong, and maybe later they'll give you a free pass at this.

But it looks like that other user was right.

Why the hell do all of this when the main quest is practically given utmost priority above all else.

Why would Geralt do any of these things when 'finding Ciri' should be his main objective.

Right now it's fine since I am really just playing to do as much as possible, but it's gonna be harder to do things when I play this game seriously.

Feels like Mass Effect One all over again.

Skip the first one and watch a story playthrough on youtube because it is terrible. Witcher 1 has the worst writing, dialogue, and voice acting I've ever seen in a game, granted CDPR was still a very small indie company and didn't have a budget for such things. Keep that in mind if you decide to play it and hopefully it won't turn you off from the franchise.

The game has quite a few film references! :D

A fist fighter named Durden the Tailor was my personal favorite.
