Their statements before the game came out were more along the lines that politics are secondary and the story is about Geralt's personal story.

Not that "politics are retarded and we decided to completely forgo logic in Act 3 of the game on politics AND the main story." Emhyr was terrible, Letho being hunted down and becoming a one line machine at Kaer Morhen was terrible.

 

 The guy Marcin Blacha was a writer on all three witcher games and the lead on TW3, so they had someone holding it together.

He wasn't a writer for TW2, he was a gameplay designer. The fact that Sebastian moved on to Cyberpunk was a REALLY heavy blow. Think on ME1 to ME2 and make it worse, FAR worse.

I'm german and playing games since about 18 years. I can't think of a single german video game character written by a american developer, who was not portrayed as an evil nazi.

Russians are usually portrayed as backward people who try to destroy America

Chinese are portrayed as sneaky people who try to take over America

Arabians are portayed as fanatics or terrorists.

Big parts of the american video game industry has such a stereotypical and racist view on other nationalities that maybe, just maybe polygon, tumblr and all the other sjw clowns should start criticizing this before lecturing others how to portay peolple of different origins. The hypocrisy is so strong with this people, that anything else than completely ignoring or responding with "if you don't like our games then plough yourself and don't play them. " would give them credit they don't deserve,

But hey at least every game made by an american developer has a 30% quote of black people.That makes them progressive and inclusive so now let's try to force every non- american developer to do the same. Even if it wouldn't make any sense in the chosen setting.

I am Russian and my identification with the game was much bigger than any other game that has other values. Despite being Russian, I live half my life in Brazil, so I think putting black people or not, would not make a difference, I do not see any Brazilian complaining of not having other ethnicity in the game. They don't give a **** about it, I think most of the people don't give a **** about it.

i just got to that part yesterday, i killed him... I felt bad because i thought there would be a option to let him run away again after the fight,  but then i saw geralt do a fatality on him and i knew we werent going to meet again, then I read his note, and I realized he was a jerk, good riddance.

Radovid and Emhyr were my biggest letdowns character wise.

The former is basically a petulant kid wearing a crown. He persecutes the mages, not for a pragmatic reason, but because Philippa was mean to him in the past and thus all mages need to die on a pyre. Geralt goes out of way to help him, and he orders him dead because he's ''arrogant''. I've seen Bethesda write more convincing authority figures. I mean, CDPR has a bit of a hard-on for kings being total assholes in general, but was it really necessary to turn Radovid into Mad King Aerys 2.0?
 
Emhyr just wasn't present enough. You talk to him at beginning, with Uma in tow, and optionally when you fail to get troops from him. In all, he has what, 10 minutes of screen time tops? Waste of Charles Dance, I say. Even worse because abdicates or dies in most endings, and by default he gets beaten by Radovid. So much for all the hype surrounding the White Flame Dancing on the Graves of His Foes.

I mean, I get that they wanted it to be a more personal story. But in TW3 politics are less ''not in focus'' and more ''just plain badly written''.

EDIT: Also, I'm beginning to be quite tired of Dandelion's narration on loading screens. I hope they give an option to turn it off in the future.

 First of TW1 is easily the weakest (I love the atmosphere of that game but the story is just fanfiction)

 

And TW3 is any better because of what? Better voice actors, cinematics, camera angles and all that crap?

TW1 may not be as much in line with the books as TW3 but it's not like TW3 is consistent with the books either.

When TW3 will have anything comparable to the ideological conflcit between the Order vs the Scoia'Tael, the themes of racism and religious fantacism on the same scale coupled with the Identity quest then let me know because what you just posted is absolute garbage.

 

The BARON's questline is the only good NUANCED storyline in the entire shithole that is TW3. The Novigrad one is nice I suppose but ultimately ruined by how Dijkstra is pissed on by the developers in Reason of State.
 

 

 

 Save Import sucks sure but unlike Bioware they never made promises (which doesn't excuse it of course but still its at least not a slap in the face)

 

Bioware also delivered on what they promised and no I don't give two shits about what CDPR promised or not, they took the ****** on everyone who played TW2.

 

 

 

 

 battle at Kaer Morhen

 

How is Kaer Morhen written well in ANY WAY? You take Ciri there via teleport because of course the dwarves left without you and you as an imbecile didn't ask the people of Skellige for aid with their fleets when it came to recovering Ciri from the Island. No seriously Crach could have sent you on a ship with a lot of warriors but you never ask him for this.

 

Then you have the battle, where you get allies depending on the sidequests you did and how you handled them, but Roche despite commanding hundreds/thousands doesn't bring anyone but Ves to help and Emhyr refuses to help unless Voorhis commands the Imperial Troops...which Geralt refuses because....reasons? ( Notwithstanding the fact you get troops from Emhyr for the battle after but hey ).

On top of that your allies ultimately matter jack **** as the outcome of the battle is pre-determined. You can go in the battle with no extra allies and STILL WIN with the exact same outcome through a dumb magic plot device and you tell me Kaer Morhen is well written? WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU?

I had Geralt do the Jedi mind trick on him and his two helpers instead. Speaking of which, I'm now sad there was no "I am not the Witcher you are looking for" dialogue while using Axii.

 Dude calm down, how did Bioware deliver on what they promised have you even played ME3? I like the game but choices really didn't matter much (Rachni?, Collector Base?) but still they were better than CDPR in that regard

Tali? Legion? Mordin? Wrex?

Oh they delivered and they delivered very well there, Rachi was never gonna be as crucial as some people wanted it to be...and Collector Base...well let's just say that the way they handled Cerberus made that choice moot.

 

 

Define how Kaer Morhen was great besides emotional impact, cinematics and music. 

 

 Why would Geralt ask Crach for fleets just to recover Ciri? He can handle it himself

 

Because as Avallac'h says the hunt will catch her trail the moment she leaves the Island and Geralt wants to get out of there by boat?

 

Roche only helps Geralt as a personal favour it has nothing to do with his troops who want a free Temeria

 

Explain why a commander wouldn't take his troops? They're his men, they are loyal to him.

 

 

Act 3 was obviously rushed (reminded me of ME3's last missions) I will agree on that but apart from that the story was great

 

Act 3 was not just rushed. It was very badly written. The notion that the story was great besides that is also funny. How was Skellige with it's one dimensional characters "great"? Novigrad as I said was nice and all but ultimately ruined.
 

 Alvin was just Ciri lite and Triss was a Yen rip off back then

 

Alvin/Jacques was far more compelling and tragic then Ciri is in TW3 since you raised Alvin in-game and cared for him then saw him become a psycho in the form of Jacques while he was still trying to save the world. Quite touching.

 

As for Triss, perhaps, but how does it make the story bad exactly?

Yeah I was disappointed with Radovid too, turning him into a silly madman just reeked of Bioware writing (Orsino, Meredith anyone?)
Thankfully this Radovid doesn't have a big role in the game

But he was kind of a big deal in Witcher 2 and that's why it blows extra hard. Same with Letho but I killed him, and the second I heard he was in Witcher 3 and had a questline with Geralt I couldn't believe it, because I'm pretty sure Geralt said something like "go away, far away so I won't see you again" if you let him go at the end of Witcher 2. There was no way these two could just bro it out like that.

I am disappointed with some major aspects of Witcher 3 but I went in knowing there had been dishonesty from CDPR with the downgrade, I knew the lead writer was not the same etc. This simply wasn't gonna be the game every Witcher 2 fan would want, so I lowered my expectations beforehand and got a rather spectacular game with wonderful and heartwarming cheracter-driven stories out of it.

The thing I am personally really sad about is how disrespectful CDPR were towards any of their endings and epilogues. Some things are unfixable, like Emhyr not having enough significance on the plot in the long run, but I desperately needed... something more to the climax before it just cut straight to the epilogue and started closing the plot before it felt ready to be doing that.

Letho not being in TW3 would have been idiotic. Letho makes a clear cut point about the school of the Viper being very well versed in the Hunt, and he fought side by side with Geralt against the hunt. He's the most logical choice to have as an ally.

That is the principal failure with Letho, you'd think with Geralt having lost his memory that Letho would provide a lot of useful insight, but he just becomes a one liner brute.

Yeah... one of my theories about he's return was that, he return to Viper School and found something important, but, my first theorie come true. Sad.

Crach an Craite is a very nice guy and all, a breath of fresh air in the Witcher world where all other rulers seem contractually obligated to be assholes, but...

... while Winter's Blade is a decent sword, it's not nearly as amazing in quality as it is in legend. More importantly, given that it's a steel sword, it's about as useful as a pebble against the Wild Hunt. So yeah, thanks buddy, but you might as well have left the sword to gather dust for all the difference it will make.

Yes, that is something I don't really like. Geralt, master Witcher, beginning at level 1 is puzzling enough (they should have pulled a ME3 and make you begin at half level if you import, makes more sense to have Geralt just improve over his considerable skill rather than start from scratch). But those ''Relic'' swords are barely better than normal blades, hell in shops I see generic Velen Longswords that outgamage the Relic weapons I am using simply because they require level 26 instead of 22. Only Witcher gear is in any way noteworthy.
