I really don't think she'll be playable for more than a few snippets spread out throughout the plot. Probably significantly more than those TW2 bits, but nowhere near parity with Geralt.
I know she's the closest thing to a female Witcher, but I hope she doesn't play like an exact clone of Geralt.
Considering she's Geralt's 'daughter' don't be surprised if she acts a little bit like him.
But I've only read the Last Wish and Blood of the Elves, so I'm sure there are those who can tell you more.
Fighting style should be similar, as she was trained by the witchers, and, frankly, is something I´ve wanted to see since unlocking the advanced moves in Witcher 1, it´s like a dance (of death, but still). Powers wise, I don´t think so, she couldn´t cast Signs back then, and rejected her sorcery after a certain incident. Unicorns said sorcery was children´s games compared to what she could actually do, but it also depends on how long it´s been for her after the saga ended (as she decided to worldhop for a while rather than going back to the Lodge), and if she found anyone to train her.

Didn´t you live in Gibraltar? If you can read Spanish cross the border and find a bookshop, the translation is much better too.
Only in flashbacks? I was hoping she had a bigger role in the story. Doing her own thing until she met Geralt. Kinda like Catwoman in Arkham City.
Wait a minute, how short is she? ![]()
Tha's a childhood flashback. Ciri was trained by the Witchers of Kaer whatsitcalled for a time.Wait a minute, how short is she?
Wasn't there a rumour a while back that the game's tutorial sequence might be Ciri's Witcher training or something? I remember hearing that. Might be what that screenshot is showing.

Spanish is our second language, but it's very err... rough. Our Spanish won't work very well in Madrid, for example.
I can read it but not to the point where I could sit down and read an entire book.
And wow, you remembered where I live.
Kudos on the memory there dude.

That would be an interesting way to work in the tutorial.

I so hope that rumour to be true, that would actually make the tutorial sequence rather interesting

Ass-kicking Elf.... It seems these guys dont even want to pretend they do any research about their news before posting. Sadly thats about 90% of all journalists nowadays.
Yes, anicient elven bloodline of Lara Dorren flows in Ciri´s veins, but that hardly makes her an elf any more than Geralt....
Elf?
Even if unfamiliar with the lore of the Witcher, a quick search on a wiki could have easily told them otherwise. That's just lazy.

I´m from Asturias, so you being from the opposite part of the peninsula stuck in my mind.
Try the fan translations then, at least the second tales book, doesn´t look that one will be translated soon.

Will do after I finish the ones I've ordered.
Got so many books to read it'll kinda take a while to get through all of them xD
Additional info regarding Ciri's role as a playable character:
"Ciri is playable only during certain moments in the game – we introduce her to give gamers another perspective in the story to make it even more engaging," explains the studio’s Robert Malinowski. "You won’t play as her for long periods of time, but since she’s crucial to the plot, we thought that additional insight will allow gamers to better bond with this cool character.
"We introduce Ciri as supportive narrative tool and not because of gameplay mechanics. The Witcher was always about Geralt and that has not changed, but that handful of moments when you play as Ciri provide us with glimpses of how the story feels from the other side.
"She’s a living weapon… and everyone wants to control her. This, plus she also has her own will and agenda, so it’s not just finding her that counts. I think that is the most important aspect of this character. Geralt knows Ciri since she was a child. She’s Geralt’s apprentice and they have a close emotional bond – he trained her so she could become a witcheress."
Very intriguing. It certainly has peeked my interest.

If anyone is still confused the books are supposed to be read in this order:
The Last Wish
The Sword of Destiny (first two books collection of short stories about Geralt)
Blood of Elves (starts the saga about the ashen haired girl named Ciri and her destiny)
Times of Contempt
Baptism of Fire
Tower of Swallow
Lady of the Lake (ends the "Ciri saga")
Season of Storms (not published yet in other languages than polish)
Most are translated to english already and those that aren't, can be found as fan-translations here

I mean, she's clearly a drow. Just look at that white hair.

Good to know! Almost out of books to read so will keep this in mind
Wasn't she described as having ashen hair? It has been some years since I've finished the saga, and the only mention of "white hair" was because of her fisstech usage..
Season of Storms (not published yet in other languages than polish)
Already translated to czech (bought and finished it last week)... not that it's a useful information for anyone, I imagine. ![]()
Also, Season of Storms seems to be taking part before the first Striga encounter, after Yennefer and also after the entire saga. So I suppose that reading it as the last book kinda fits.
Have they discussed how they will be handling boss fights in this game?
I did not find the fight with the Kayran or Dragon fun.

They said there would be no boss fights in the conventional sense. Take that for what you will.
