I wasn't really talking about the plots, it was more about the people, locations and world state. You learn about these things with Geralt throughout the first two games as he regains his memory. By the time the third game rolls around Geralt has fully recovered his memories, so events and characters that weren't in the first two games will be referenced or shown. The books are the only option for players to go into the game knowing as much as Geralt does.

the main story is made exclusively for people that have read the books, to me its some random woman im supposed to know but have never heard of bringing me to a random emperor who im supposed to know but have never heard of who wants me to find his random daughter that im supposed to know but have never heard of

 

I think it's a fair criticism that the game doesn't quite get the backstory across in the best way - but this is not particularly different from any story-driven game that lacks character creation, e.g. The Last of Us. It's just what's on the menu.

TW3 is not just an ending for the TW game series but also for the books as well. CDPR done an awesome job for book fans as well. So many fan services/ characters/ references from the books. I'm not saying you have to read all books before playing, but book fans do enjoy more.

Hasn't the author gone out of his way to say he does not count the game series as canon? and it is more fan-fiction than anything else. I am glad they found the inspiration to make a game series out of what is clearly a decent book series though. I just prefer it when the game triggers the extended works and not the other way around.

Thats for TW1, not TW3. And no one is count the game as canon since the story from the books ends in "the lady of lake" and "Some thing ends, something begins" already. CDPR basically pick up the ending from books and create their own story in consistent with all the books' setting.

The Matrix? Just because i prefer it doesn't mean i will shoo away potentially great art because of my preference. And The Witcher series is amazing, i am just not that in awe of 3 as i hoped i would be.

outside of the main story - yes, they have 2 dialogue options each and thats it, so for people who dont do the main story these characters are completely pointless

Are you selling your trophies? Because there's not much reason to lug them all around since they all have the same three or four benefits.

 

Also, make sure you don't have anything heavy in your junk section.

I would suggest taking a look at your animal pelts. I freed 60 inventory spaces by dismantling/selling those.

So Marcin Momot just dropped in the CDPR forum that we will be seeing some additional content for Triss romance, which he said would please the fans that were left unsatisfied.

It was a bit much for me, I get it CDPR, no DRM. Got it, we all got it, twenty minutes into the quest and the tenth mention of GoG and no DRM, I got it.
