All this arguing about technical stuff and i'm just sitting here waiting for CDP to fix the real stuff like Eredin, Avalac'h white washing, White Frost retcon,  Ciri's retcon in her powers and the bulk of act 3.

According to leaked development document of TW3 , wild hunt invaded Novagrid in ACT3 and added in has more interaction with Geralt Avalach and Ciri. Hopefully they could bring back these cut content in expansion packs.

True, those are FAR bigger issues. Also Radovid, Dijkstra, Emhyr, Reasons of State, Imports, Letho, Triss, the White Frost etc.

On max settings I'd say DAI has stronger graphics, but the gap isn't very noticeable and TW3 absolutely has longer load times (but that's because of that stupid unskippable voice over). TW3 has a big advantage in using custom made character models for main story characters and then just recycling NPCs. This is what ME2-3 did for their party members.

I think W3 looks way better than DAI.

More detailed and with a more realistic art which makes it look more beautiful. DAI still has a cartoonish look.

I mean, look at the clothing of the NPCs in the W3. It's amazing the level of detail. The facial animations compared to the BioWare still reusing animation all the time making females walk like gorillas. I remember I even saw in DAI one scene of my male inquisitor with the female inquisitor movement.

The change of weather, the wind blowing the trees, the details in monsters. The W3 is obviously more demanding.

DAI have loading times to close the game and to go to the main menu.

While this would be nice, it won't fix the core issues. That is TW3 Eredin himself, those lulzy horrible 12 lines, the Avalac'h white washing and the changes made to the White Frost and Ciri's power.

Costin also raised some other big issues raised some other issues (tho I was personally fine with Lethos content and Dijkstra, Roche and Phillipa at certain parts which didn't include politics or the silly Radovids plot) that also needs to be fixed.

This stuff is just far more important then fixing Triss's romance in my eyes and fixing some funny textures or stuff.

Addressing these issues would require extensive rewrites of act 2 & 3. Not gonna happen.

I'd advise doing "Count Reuven's Treasure" first to get it out of the way. After that, you have "Get Junior" and "The Gangs of Novigrad." I failed the latter because I preferred a less violent approach and so explored all three locations. In order to get the dwarves to help you you can't have explored both the arena and the casino (on your own, that is). Remember that when you call upon the dwarves to help you you'll simply storm the place instead of using your detective skills. One last tidbit from the guide: "Should Main Quest: A Favor for Radovid commence, and you failed to speak to Cleaver for a final time (or at all), this quest fails once you emerge from the Oxenfurt chess club."

Hope it helps. ;)

So I'm a bit confused. After finishing "Count Reuven's Treasure", should I start "Get Junior" or "The Gangs of Novigrad" ?

Cheers   :P

Not really, act 1 and 2 need to see some little changes and that's really for Radovid,Emyhr and Triss, it's act 3 that would see alot of rewriting since act 3 is one of the biggest complaints in the game and CDP fixed act 3 in TW2 so they might.

Damn it.

Was fully set to start my second playthrough because I thought the patch was out before finding out that it was still a little ways off. Decided to boot up DAI in the mean time and finish up a playthrough that I had gotten about 2/3 of the way through it. It's just not clicking with me, man.

I'm still in full berries tart, lilac sweet mode.

TW3 isn't more demanding. Or at least, both games do nothing to put my PC through their paces; it may be that on a worse machine TW3 would be demanding. The faces, like I said, aren't a good contrast because TW3 (and TW1-2 as well) used custom models. The NPCs are higher res but they're clones ala KoTOR, so it's a give and take type situation. On the one hand, stronger models. On the other hand, punch in the nads for versimiltude. Not that DA:I doesn't use recycled NPC props, but they at least tend to keep them to the background most of the time.

The environments are very different, better done in TW3 because they're portraying wildnerness better, though I think DA:I had a lot of visually impressive sights as well. I suppose I find TW3 underwhelming because it just looks like the various parts of Canada I've hiked, even though I can recognize the achievement in creating it virtually.

The loading times, though, again, are a problem with your hardware. On an SSD the only thing taking more than 2-4 seconds is the product of TW3's mandatory VO (which you can of course remove via mod).

True, though it is holy water that is powerful enough to instantly shut down all brain functions of the Inquisitor, leading to his/her sudden death....or the Inquisitor doesn't know how to swim.

If you don't mind killing your way through the quest you can starts Gangs first. If you want to mix it up a bit, you can visit the casino or the arena (either one but not both) on your own, then go to Cleaver and visit the remaining locations.

You bring up points I never mentioned.

You didn't reply to anything I said besides the loading times, which many complain about. Why do we need a load time to close the game? Is my desktop loading or what?

The load times is the engine problem, or so I've heard. Apparently Battlefield 4 also has ridiculous load times.

Like I said; I don't get those load times. It takes me a second to close the game. It may be an engine problem, but it doesn't show up on an SSD.

Yup TW3's load time is much faster. Given I ran both TW3 and DAI on the same SSD.

DAI's load times were god awful. Also it made my CPU temps spike through the ****** roof for some reason, happened to a few people I know as well.

I have an HDD. TW3 loads completely by the time the narrative is over, and when I reload the game or fast travel, it's maybe 10-15 seconds.

DA:I loads for a minute during the first loading, and then like 30 seconds or more during each travel between zones.

Gvien the explorable area of TW3, I would say RED3 engine is much efficient compared to Frostbite in DAI.

As for lighting and visual overall TW3 is simply far more superior.

Again used my own screenshot based on same hardware(old 2600K + GTX980)

I do agree that The Witcher 3 looks better overall, but i like the graphical style of DA:I alot more. It is high fantasy after all and it reflects it very well. I think it will be up to Mass Effect Andromeda to show how good an RPG can look in the Frostbite Engine.

It is all about details, I have not doubt Frostbie is super powerful engine, however the lack of attentions to details (e.g. Different wild life, tree species for forests in different region, lack of dynamic weather or even basic day/night cycle) is what really limit the overall performance of DAI. As for ME:A, I could only wish it luck.

Sadly, I doubt we'll get day/night cycle and dynamic weather in ME:A.

I'm at least hoping for more varied weather effects (most likely fixed and scripted for particular area).

Thats why Bioware really has a mountian to climb now, especially since CDPR shown player what could be done in a modern RPG with amount of detials they put in TW3. Dynamic weather and day/night cycle is really not that hardware demanding really.
